Great Idea Linn - I see where some curves and an adjustable head could really open up some design possibilities. Thanks for the inspiration

Why not use the bandsaw for resawing? That Laguna works great with their Resaw King blade. I own that same bandsaw, love it! Very cool lamp!

Just going to throw my two cents in here! I made some pretty big versions of these for lighting our videos. When soldering on many rows of LED strips I found it much easier not to precut short wires. I found soldering to the strip, then the main wire, then cutting it was a lot easier and way less fiddly -R

That is so cool and looks easy to do, I love the LED lights so much more than the florescent since they use less electricity.

I felt the same when I switched to a temp controlled soldering station from a regular 240v iron. Also when I switched to using the brass 'wool' type tip cleaner rather than a damp sponge (although i still keep a damp sponge still for wiping off too)

Darbin, u awesome! I'm from Brazil and I fell on your channel through Pinterest, and I can't stop watching! I'm already buying the materials to make this desk light and a lot of other cool things from your channel! My dad plays some electronic stuff, but I've never been much interested. Watching your channel, I wanted to learn more about it and also to plan and do my own projects. Congrats!

This is great! I like the joinery! It's a surprising design since it looks like it's gonna lit itself instead of the table because of the angle, but those LEDs really spread the light. Moonwalk light, very cool!

I just lit up a cabinet using a very similar light strip (perhaps the same kind, LE from Amazon, but that's not important). However, I had the hardest time soldering wire onto them. I wasn't always able to tin the contacts on the strip, and even when I could then the solder would come of when joining the tinned wire... I got great pointers looking at you work. I have a vintage lamp that I'm thinking about retrofitting with LED, which I'll do just as you did. Thanks!

Nice job - I just bought a Hakko FX888 too, and you're right, it is a superb tool. Couldn't tell if you're using the stock iron bit (the tiny cone), I ended up buying a chisel tip which makes it even better, especially for bigger components.

Very innovative. I really appreciate sharing your ideas with the DIY community. About this particular project, I would suggest covering the led terminals and wiring to improve user experience and safety. Although it's merely 12 V DC, there is a chance for a short-circuit. Also, concealing the wires at the back with a thin sheet of wood of the same texture would be nice to have.

Awesome project! I found a cool tip, instead of using that long wire, you use copper tape has the bus. I used the copper tape method on my model railroad, to add the LED accent lighting to the model buildings, street lights and signal lights.

Excellent work, now all you have to do is route out the base and add an Arduino Nano and an HC-06 and then you can use your phone instead of a another wandering remote then you could also use addressable RGBs, flash to music...the fun never ends, love all your vids.

Very nice Linn. Have you seen the little gizmos you can add to any lamp that turn them into a touch lamp? I buy the little control boxes for those at Lowes and they really add a neat feature if you have a metal spot to touch for the on/off switch. I envision your desk lamp with a penny inlaid into the base (with the year you made the lamp of course) and wiring that to the touch switch so that when you touch the penny, the light comes on!

Very nice. I've watched several of your videos, and this being the most recent. I've always wanted to make a lamp, though I mostly work in wood, I've wanted to incorporate other materials... concrete, kevlar, carbon fiber tubes, wood, bamboo, stone, metal, hemp, etc. The LEDs you've used are of great interest to me as well. The options seem almost limitless. Also, I'd like to say, I admire your style - your videos seem very thorough with just the right amount of detail, and at a good pace. Your personality is perfect for this. Also, I'm pretty jealous of your soldering bench - did you make that?
