The freezer clean-out continues. Today we cleared out some bone-in chicken that we won't use otherwise and created a delicious chicken stock.

7 boxes of commercially made chicken broth: $14 + 7 qts homemade chicken broth: $5. What would you rather have? I can broth 3-4 times a year which is more than anything else. Yes, I use wing nubbins, roast chicken carcass, cheap leg quarters, whatever. It's all good. Nice video - thanks!

Love making stock, the making of it - I find relaxing and I love seeing how other people make and flavour theirs.. I made seafood stock this weekend. I love shrimp shells and lobster shells. I know what your thinking lobster is so boujee. I am on the east-coast so its easy to find; and growing up we always had it, but not the way you think. My mother grew up in the Gaspe Peninsula, the fisherman treated the lobster like trash. My grandmother taught her kids not to do much with it just boil - 15 mins - and it was great on its own, just eat. The stock you get 😋. Hope your well 🤗

Doing this big time tomorrow, thanks for sharing. I had 6 chicken carcasses from rotisserie chickens and veggie scraps in freezer. Simmered it down in fridge now to hit in the morning. Tastes amazing!🤗

Yeah baby! I'd made small batches of various stocks, put them in the freezer. Then I found I had 7 quarts and so that was my first time pressure canning with those various homemade stocks. Yes!💖

I use my instant pot for making broth. I also used it when I didn't have a burner open to make my jam to can.

Just made your recipe for chicken stock and I can tell you this, I will never by store bought stock again !! The flavor with your recipe is absolutely incredible ! Love those cheap bags of chicken leg quarters for this. I get broth, the dogs get the rest and love it (Although they don't get all of the leg bones, I limit those). Didn't realize they made an instant pot that big! Nice!

I learned to skim off the chicken fat and keep it in the freezer to sauté or use as gravy starter. It’s delicious.

I can chicken for my dog to add to his dry food.. Today I canned 8 pints, made chichrron from the skin, dehydrated some of the breast for chewies, and boiled the bones for broth. I froze the broth, but will now can in the future. Great video.

I've got to start making stock this way. I've got a 6 quart instant pot, so I'll be able to make about half as much stock at a time, but I can refrigerate 1 batch while a second cooks. I'm going to watch for stewing hens to go on sale, or a managers special on cut up chickens before I make this, as I don't have any bone-in chicken in my freezer.

I fold a cotton kitchen towel in fourths and strain to be rid of all the sediment, chill so I can get rid of the fat, heat and can.

I’m planning to can my first chicken broth this week! I’m so excited! I’ve only canned venison so far. You were right; some of it I knew was tough but it was the most tender best venison I’ve had! It was awesome. Thank you so much for all you do to share your experience! I loved Canuary.

Love This* I have never used the instant pot to make broth. It’s always been my roaster. GAME-CHANGER* Looks Beautiful * Leisa👍❤️Now I’m thinking Onion Broth , Etc. 🤩 At least for small batches, lol. Oh, and BBQ CHILI SAUCE🤔 you got my mind thinking now , yikes! Wishing you Both a Lovely* Sunday❤️

Beautiful results! Love the Lava Light reference LOL I also did a semi-freezer cleanout and have some chicken bones (roasted for 20 minutes), skin, and veggies in the crockpot. Of course, after looking further just now, I found more bones and leftover rotisserie chicken. So, once this batch is done, I'll refrigerate it and make a second batch. Then, will can it all up this weekend. I hope to get to a local butcher shop next week and see if they sell beef bones, since none of the grocery stores do. I would love to add beef bone broth to my stock.

I just bought a (another) IP Max that actually pressure cans! Small batch canning works for me right now. I can do 4 pints ot 5 half pints at a time. So far, so good.

Bet you could use a separator like for making gravy. But I like the other ladies comment about saving the fat in fridge to brown things in. But I'll probably do it just like Leisa does it, cause she's my canning hero. 👏

If I really didn't want the fat, I could pop the jar into the fridge the night before I want to use the stock and then remove the solidified fat before using the broth. This was very helpful! Thanks for the inspiration!

I use to meticulously strain, and there would still be sediment, which sinks to the bottom anyways. Better to just stop fighting it 😂 Thanks for showing the instant pot useage. Any mileage I can get out of it, the better.

You didn’t use a fat separator. I was glad to see that, I didn’t want to spend $30 on one. However, I made chicken broth with skin and used tattler lids. 6 out of 16 did not seal. Guess I should get the separater after all. Unless you have any tips on what may have happened-too much fat. Anyway, enjoying your candid, no nonsense, real life discussions. Thank you

Refrigerate the broth. Remove the fat after it’s risen to the surface. Then can the broth.

Pressure canning my first time ever chicken bone broth tomorrow. Placed the broth in the frig for over night after 20 hours of slow cooking w/ vegetables/seasoning. Merry Christmas! Wait... you can freeze garlic?

I still prefer to dehydrate mine and make bouillon because it takes less space, uses fewer jars, and you can make as little or as much as you want, using 1 tsp per cup water!

Love your recipes. I have my three chickens with meat , carrots , onions celery…on the front burner cooking away. I watch other people say cook for two days. Ok so that gives me a little time! What to do with all this white meat after boiling for so long? I heard you saying you were going to do something with your chicken meat latter! What did you do? Can I actually use chicken meat after 2 days of cooking? Oh and by the way just watched your breaking news update on ugly chicken headspace Change. Who knew! Thanks for that by the way! Hi Leisa. Great video. I'm planning on using a chicken carcass and veg scraps I've been keeping in my freezer to make stock.. Can I put anything I want in the recipe? How long would I pressure can pint jars please? Love your work!

I'm frugal. I would of put that pint in another pint and half stole a splash out of each other jar to even them up and topped em all off with a little water.

One of my lid was bouncing up and down in the canner. Never appened before. It made pinging sounds in and out for 30 seconds. !!! I think it has something to do with pression.

I have A LOT of chicken thighs & legs in the freezer we processed last fall. Was thinking I was going to have to process it all into Ugly Chicken, but I will do 1/2 or more this way. Thank you!
