Are you measuring the temperature at the top of the condenser? Why I ask is for example if you wanted to simple distill water, you will need >100c at condenser. I know it's steams at 100c, but it also recondenses before making it into the condenser. The water al a liquid may only reach 100c, but you vapor (pure H2O steam) can be much hotter. You probably aren't distilling water... so just make sure not to get the liquid so hot that the product you want doesn't degrade the product, lowering your yield.

That’s a great idea I haven’t even taken into consideration yet. Thanks for mentioning that will be implemented in my next even larger scale run. Was it completely leak proof?

@@THYZOID Yes even after 3 or 4 runs the seal was still good. Silicone can withstand as high as 300 degr C I think.

I will ineed try this someday that´s a great idea :D Before that we need to make anhydrous AlCl3 though.

Good idea! We will have to collect a big load of PET bottles for that first.

There's no Sodium Terephthalate in PET bottles, instead it's the polymer - it says in the name - Polyethylene TEREPHTHALATE. terephthalate tells you that it is in fact an ester. As it is a polyester, it can be hydrolized with NaOH into sodium Terephthalate.

We didn´t have as much heat in the second round as in the first one.

Der größte Teil wird durch Destillation als universal Lösemittel zum Geräte reinigen recycelt. Der Rest wird verbrannt. Weil der Abfall vollkommen halogenfrei ist wird nur Wasser und CO2 entstehen. Aufgrund des großen Anteils an Ethanol und Aceton wird beim Verbrennen nicht einmal Ruß freigesetzt.

yes. sodium benzoate is sodium benzoate. mine was food grade as well

Food grade usually means it's very pure, as you don't want contamination in what you eat, unlike in technical grade stuff. So it will work perfectly.

The idea is to dissolve the stainless steel in hydrochloric acid to make chromium(III) chloride, iron(II) chloride and nickel(II) chloride; react them with sodium carbonate (or bicarbonate) to precipitate chromium(III) hydroxide, iron(II) carbonate and basic nickel(II) carbonate; filter the solution and wash the precipitate mixture; treat the precipitate with potassium hydroxide (or sodium hydroxide or aqueous ammonia) and hydrogen peroxide to convert the chromium(III) hydroxide into potassium (or sodium or ammonium) chromate; filter the yellow solution and wash the precipitate until the filtrate is colorless; and finally boil and concentrate the solution to get yellow crystals of potassium (or sodium) chromate. If you go with ammonium chromate you can´t get crystals without adding aqueous ammonia from time to time, because ammonium chromate in solution decomposes when heated into ammonium dichromate and releasing ammonia gas. If you want to make some potassium (or sodium or ammonium) dichromate just add some acetic acid until the solution is an orange-red color and evaporate some of the water to get orange-red crystals of potassium (or sodium or ammonium) dichromate. If you go with ammonium dichromate you can also just boil the ammonium chromate solution like i mentioned before, but you will have to deal with the ammonia gas that it´s gonna be released.

Sounds good I’ll take a look into the legal matters soon. This prep looks to be somewhat easy.

@@THYZOID dürfte legal sein, bis auf das Ammoniumdichromat weil das bei uns als Explosivstoff zählt, auch wenn das ordentlich übertrieben ist das bekommt man nicht zur Explosion.

How? Would it be by making phenylmagnesium bromide into benzoic acid and then decarboxylati g it?

It's quite easy and straight forward method u make phenyl magnesium bromide/chloride form chloride benzene or bromo benzene and then and any type of acid like water or very diluted HCl to get you benzene BOOM there you have it But I just have written this down without trying experience is way more better

@@filipealarza9079 You would react the phenylmagnesiumbromide with water to benzene and Mg(OH)Br.

@@mihirsanghvi9876 Of course it's a straight forward method, but the use of a grignard reaction and buying bromobenzene just to get benzene is a bit absurd.

@Dominik e 😂😂😂 indeed it is. In fact it would be better to just get benzene directly from aldrich Sigma or something with this grignard method you would end up using more costly resources than the price of the final yield of benzene
