Thanks for sharing your skills Wade . Certainly as taught me a load of stuff. Like the way you present yourself. Keep it up . Best wishes from the UK .Alan.
Happy to help!! I've gotten a lot more advance since that video. Feel free to ask any questions. My contact info is on my website swampdonkeyarchery.com
Wade question if your string comes out long how much is to much I know that you can just add twist to it but last on I made I had to put extra 10 twist in it to hit length. Thanks
If I'm more than about 3/8" long I usually make another. U can make a 1/4" up on twist. Especially if you got "about the right looking twist rate going" then you'll have one worth a lot of twist and another string that looks right. Looks kinda tacky to me.
I've see some other videos where they do the center serving and serving to the end loops before adding twists to it. But I noticed you do yours after adding twists. Does it matter if you serve after adding twists or before? Have you noticed any difference from your experience?
I don't like serving then twisting. What will happen is the string will twist where it is not served. And still be "straight " under serving. After the shock of shooting the twists will start "waking" under the serving. Then the string will be inconsistent length and stretch. Twist them, stretch them, twist again to get string exact length then serve. Way more consistent build. Hope that helps!! 👍💪
Longer strings take a tad longer. But on average I let set about 30 min, then check length. Make any adjustments, then stretch another 10 or 15. Then check again. Repeat till there is no more stretch.
Hey Bud, on this jig I was using jere I just used regular ol I believe a 3/8 turnbuckle from Lowe's. It was kinda crude, but it gets the job done. Had the turnbuckle on one end and a 3/8 hook bolt on a bracket on the other.
Hey wade if you put your twists in under to much pressure will this cause peep rotation. Iv made three string with all having bad peep rotation and the one thing I can think of is I twisted under more pounds than normal
Shane, sorry man, I just saw this comment. What I've seen make the peep rotate is if you are laying out the material with a good bit of tension. Wjat will happen you'll have the bottom or starting strands where they are supposed to be, the as you get more raps and tighter loops it will ever so slight bend in the posts you are working with. In essence you "raps"wont be equal. That or if u do 2 color strings if you wrap one tighter than the other it will do that. But just twists in the main string it should really affect steing rotation much at all. Hope that answered your question
Does the Bow have a string on it?? Is there a sticker on the limb that may give this info? That one may be fun to find. If it does not have a string on it or there is no sticker on limb with that info Let me know and i will see what i can find out. Thanks! WB
Arent there supposed to be a certain amount of twist based on length and string material and strand count? Seem like you just twisted it till you got the length you wanted?
I have a different process since that video. Different people like different twist rates withing reason. There are a few programs that I use that will calculate amount of twist per inch. Butch Baker program is the closest that I build to
It's not as easy as some folks think. It has taken me a year to even feel semi confident. But if ya ever get in need of a set let me know! Haha even tho the shipping will almost cost as much as the strings to get up there too ya.
It seems to leave a smoother loop. I'll melt it on regular servings but not on tag ends for the end loops. I have not had any issues as of yet. 👍 the first few I did melt and it had em looking kinda lumpy.
if your willing to take a suggestion from a stranger, you might wanna lower the into music, nearly blew my eardrums out with headphones. other than that thanks for the valuable information
