You can easily make a really nice copper chain from old copper pipe. It takes minimal tools and is a fun diy project. Larger diameter copper pipe can be used and the width of each chain link can be changed for a different look.
To make a strong solder joint you would usually use a hard solder. In this case I used normal solder but used a bridge plate. This method can be done with a basic torch since the melting point of standard solder is much lower than a silver hard solder. I tested this with a 50 pound load and the joints held up perfectly.
In this case I designed this copper chain to match our copper hummingbird feeder. It could be used for a variety of things both indoors and outdoors. It would work great for hanging plants or even a custom hanging light fixture. It could also be used as a decorative way to secure drapes.
