Thought id lost this video then found "some" of it on my google backup, so here it is, out of sync for the series but anyway. -3AN stainless steel braided lines and fittings from the master to the proportioning valve, and front brakes,. The rear brakes are tapped into the factory hardline which required a different type of fitting under the car. All the parts were purchased from www.competitionsupplies.com

Simple enough mod to do, not that cheap though, as there are quite a few fittings required, but will provide a nice pedal feel when used with the standard brake booster 👍

@@captainsvlog roughly how much did you spend ?
@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog 3 года назад
@@Birminghamoutlaws From memory it was somewhere between £130 and £200 for all the line and the fittings, as it requires a male/male fitting for just about every connection plus the fitting itself whether it be straight or angled or whatever.

Great video exactly what i needed but 2 questions. 1 can you run the braided hose to caliper? Also can you add links to parts?
@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog 5 месяцев назад
You probably could run direct to caliper, but I wanted to use the original hanger and connection point, as I'd already bought the caliper hoses that would join to the OEM hardlines. The hose is AN3 ptfe stainless braided, and all the fittings are AN3 fittings, which is all normal kit, just plan out what you need, order the parts and away you go. I bought them from my local motorsport parts shop at silverstone circuit.

Just found your channel how are the brakes working? It looks very clean but I heard you say it was spongy or could have a spongy feel could you elaborate on that?
@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog Год назад
"Other people" always said braided hoses are spongy, I was likely referring to that. These brakes feel awesome to use, it's the same as used in race cars, works for me. Pedal feel and modulation ability is spot on. The pads used make a big difference to feel, but I've also never driven this car on the OEM brake lines so have point of comparison. This type of hose won't expand like the myths would make you believe. The steel braid is very tight, and the lines are PTFE inside.

Any issues running through the area above the front sub frame regarding enough space? Do you have the 3 fuel lines going through there too? Im starting this and reluctant to drop the subframe, thanks in advance.
@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog 2 месяца назад
Not really I just wanted the cables as straight as possible so by having the curves inside the car before it exits the firewall, it solved that issue. Fuel lines all run in the OEM locations, I just connected hard line adapters to -6AN fittings where they come into the engine bay and ran them from there.
@joshclayg
@joshclayg 2 месяца назад
@@captainsvlog thanks for the reply. Many options and I think i go a similar route, the 3 fuel oem route, and transition from hard line to hose where convenient in engine bay, with the 2 rear brake hard lines through firewall and run internally - I don't want to do this again!
@brotheus6310
@brotheus6310 2 года назад
Have you tested this out personally yet for spongy feel?
@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog 2 года назад
1500 miles, 1 circuit outing and 1 drag event, no issues to report, pedal feel and control is awesome considering no ABS. Spongy feel is a bit of an old internet myth, the new spec hoses are ptfe tube inside with tightly wound stainless steel braiding on the outside, they are very robust. If its good enough for a lot of race cars is good enough for amateurs driving on the street. IF ANYTHING, it probably has a little too much servo assistance now with the DC2 booster and master cylinder, as I would like to be able to apply more brake pressure when on the track for more control, but on the street its spot on.

How you make sure if the master is properly connected to the prop valve… i can’t find any good diagram on how to root the master to the prop valve. Wish you can help me
@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog 6 месяцев назад
Horizontal outlet on master goes to the right bottom port on prop valve, the vertical outlet from master goes to the left bottom port of the prop valve. If you join our discord we can help you better. There are links in video descriptions somewhere.

What are the exact fittings you are using? From prop to caliper
@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog 3 года назад
At the caliper it is just the standard banjo bolt, from the caliper to the factory hanger is an aftermarket upgrade hose which I bought from MTEC brakes, just tell them what car it is and they can supply the correct fitting. From this aftermarket part I had to use a male/male -3an adapter, and make up a new line to go from that adapter up to the prop valve, this hose has females ends both ends. The prop valve also has male/male adapters in. So in short I used MALE/MALE adapter on the prop valve, all outlets, and again on the end of the caliper lines, and joined them up with custom lines using female -3 fittings both ends. I hope this makes sense. You can see the fittings @ 0.46s in the video. Feel free to contact me on instagram if you require any more specific info. Hit that SUBSCRIBE and LIKE button if you have not already done so aswell :) Much appreciated.

look at 5m26s also as you can see the male/male adapter in the end of the caliper hose :)

What’s the fitting to adapt the hardline to a braided line I can’t find it ..?
@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog 3 года назад
What you need is a 5/16" (8mm) Hardline to dash 6 AN adapter, you can find them on ebay at the link, I used one with a male outlet, but you can also get female outlets if you prefer :) Thanks www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272698797466

@@captainsvlog Absolute legend thanks a lot am redoing my turbo ep3 so fuse box relocation and making a full an clutch line to move it away from the heat
@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog 3 года назад
@@user-op1tx5ki7n ah, in that case it's not that adapter you need, that's to convert the main fuel feed hose....my fault I never checked what video you'd commented on LOL. For the clutch I bought a pre made line, but the end was a banjo fitting which can't work with the EP3 slave cylinder, so I just used the same -3 AN fittings as I did for the brake lines as they are all the same. I fitted a 90degree in the slave cylinder then put a male/male connector in that then cut the banjo off the clutch line and just put a -3 female fitting on the clone line 👌🍺

Thanks for the tip, they are pretty damn tight to be fair, and the mounts in this are not all that stiff compared to some, but I will certainly keep my eyes open for any issues once its running properly :)

Not that I know mate, piss easy to do from parts though really, just -3 an fittings and lines. Hardest part is adapting the rear headlines to connect to as they need to come off the car and be flared to take the -3 couplers.

When doing a custom setup you can use what you want to use, I personally went this route as it made sense to me at the time👍 all the hoses and fittings can be found at my suppliers website. www.competitionsupplies.com/braking-components/smooth-bore-ptfe-hose-fittings-for-brake-clutch

@captainsvlog
@captainsvlog 2 года назад
@@Newbenwindowcleaningcom the list is whatever you need to suit your application, look at what parts are on your car, check the flare types for the fittings on the master cylinder, the rest is just an3 fittings as per the layout you want. The hose you want is smooth bore PTFE line braided hose. All of the parts I used in this video are in the category I linked to on the competition supplies website. If you have specific questions about your setup, your best option would be to speak to your local Motorsport parts suppliers 👍
