Join me as we discuss the upcoming potential highlighted plans of government's back to work scheme for those disabled or suffering mental health issues.
This information was taken from a sit down meeting with a Mental Health body and nurses today in relation to governmental decisions to make disabled/mentally challenged persons look for work or work based learning.

Talking Therapies and CBT just don’t work in my experience. They can’t be used for a blanket cure either, people don’t work like that. So it shouldn’t be assumed that it will work for everyone, they could be offered sure but what’s the outcome if you take these and your not magically cured or indeed refuse it. More stopped benefits and being left to struggle and without the meds that do help?
@DynamicDuoUK
@DynamicDuoUK 16 дней назад
This was my response to CBT and talking therapies today, their response was limited and agreed it isn't for everyone but at this point they said you could in theory have it again... If it didn't work first time why would it the second time? That's like going back to a previous failed marriage 🤣 But on the serious side it's worrying if this is going to stop a benefit award based on a therapy that doesn't work for deeper mental health issues.
@ChezzyCherry
@ChezzyCherry 16 дней назад
@DynamicDuoUK You've got me laughing with that failed marriage comment, jeez, nothings that bad, but that would be the only way I'd try TT/CBT again, if that was my options. That's what gave me cptsd in the first place 😂 But yeah, seriously, this is a worry, and I agree I think the key thing is here about it being deeper MH issues...but then, who's going to judge that? The same people who don't even understand the ailments you're talking about in your pip form ??!! We all know that don't work!
@DynamicDuoUK
@DynamicDuoUK 16 дней назад
@@ChezzyCherry depends on the marriage right ? Lol sorry haha but yeh your spot on the people who believe things like CBT and therapies fix those with recurrent depressive disorders don't have a clue and I'm sure they all work for the DWP! Meds stabilise it to a degree as I've had it myself, coming off them was a killer and still means I suffer daily but I have to manage it according to our health service lol
@ChezzyCherry
@ChezzyCherry 16 дней назад
@DynamicDuoUK I tried to come off all my very long-term meds myself over the years a couple of times (which the doc advised against) but had to go back on them due to cptsd, Fibro, (and long covid now). It's just not something that can happen unless you give me a new body and erase some memories. I've tried everything over the decades, and the only thing I find helps is dark humour. Now that I would try if that was offered and to be fair, meditation has helped more than anything else. Lately, the thing that's caused me and the people I work with more stress is all these changes to UC and pip.

This may sound weird, but i have come to the conclusion as someone who has had mental health conditions all my life, that we live in a society which is a democratic tyranny of the WELL over the UNWELL. In other words, although we all get an opportunity to vote every 5 years, and although the population consists of people who are generally well and not disabled and people who are generally unwell and disabled, society is designed and run largely in a way which benefits and suits the WELL and discriminates against, excludes,harms and compels the UNWELL.

What people dont understand is that the mental pain and anguish when you have either anxiety or indeed a mental illness such as bipolar is real. You can not function as a normal person no matter how you try. Physciatic nurses are not qualified to determine your condition either. They are usually there as an add-on to your physciatrist who can deyermine if your condition has deteriated or not. The CBT is only of use to some one who has a personality disorder and even then can be useless. I do see a mental health charity taking the government to.court pver this snd quite rightly should do so. The mentally disable suffer so much discrimination already as it is. This policy, if it goes ahead, will create situations where people will die, either by having no money if their benefits are stopped or by their own hand as they just can't take any more discrimination.

This should make the public very worried. Some of these people are unreliable, others dangerous, especially without meds. Fellow workers will be expected to pick up the slack, bosses to find cover, the public to put up with bad service and products. The public will be at risk when others lose concentration. Pretending it doesn't exist doesn't make it go away.

Labour have a chance now to take a year to come up with a solid policy they can implement thats been discussed with those who are sick and disabled so that its a solid plan that caters to how we are as human beings. You have to be careful here, removing peoples medication that treat things like pain and certain other conditions that you need to be treated for will always require medication. SO for me i am terrified by all this. where is the so called protection for those who are sick

It's all and good Wes Streeting wanting people, on PIP/ESA, to get back into work, but will employers want to employ people, who have mental health issues? When it comes to people, on the autistic spectrum, only around 20% of autistic people are in paid employment. The Buckland Review won't change things: businesses won't fall over themselves to employ people, who are autistic, or who have mental health problems.

The problem with "Talking Therapies" is that they are just doing it for money. It's just a job to them. They are not people who have been through the same issues so how would they know what it is like. It's a matter of having the right personality. Caring and empathetic. Very few people have those qualities. Unless people have been through the same things they have no idea. It would be like me doing a job dealing with women's issues, such as pregnancy and so forth. Have no idea.

This attitude will cause 1000s of unnecessary deaths and homelessness and for what to say to people that don’t care or understand people are different look at the good job we are doing forcing people to work who shouldn’t be and we are saving you tax payers if we kill them off or make them homeless it’s sickening to think our country is literally this cruel and evil and crazy 🤪

Workplace does not pay, because if they did then it would mean less for those that are having to pay their "employees", and these so called employers want "world class skilled workers" for minimum wage, or less even voluntery if possible "free labor" basically its disgusting. Im convenced that america is 6 months ahead of the uk when it comes to the "mighty economy" and look how they are doing atm. The solution is the fkn pay their employees, employers or people in general are all for reducing our paychecks but getting a raise or wanting a living wage, salary or payment, apparently is beyond to much to ask for at all. Nhs strikes Teacher strikes Firemen strikes All the while the political class just decide to increase their pay whenever they want, when you have a class of people that makes the rules up as and when they choose this is the results we get. As for the people that having it hard that have disabilities, hats off to you for fighting back, but my personal advice go to these places that the gov wants you to and make these workplaces a nightmare because it wont be long of them getting you back out the door and these workplaces go out of their way to make it harder for disabled which is also disgusting again the reason is always money.

Autism is not a mental health condition. Its a physiological condition that people are born with. Most adults in tnis country diagnosed with autism now have comorbid conditions from a lifetime of trying to survive in society with undiagnosed autism. Most people with autism i know who were dx as adults, have mostly first presented to doctors and mh practitioners with mental health conditions such as cptsd from trying to survive as a person with autism when you dont know you have autism. The only positive i can say is thank god kids today are getting diagnosed much earlier and there is more support for young people and children. Sadly for adults, all the resources go to the youth autistic services. There is no support or aftercare for adults dx with autism. Your even classed as lucky if you get an assessment and diagnosis. It all feels pretty bleak.

CBT was definitely pushed by the Tories as providers were all private, even on NHS at least to begin with and the training for it is private, so gives lots of cash to their mates. NICE have a big say in it too as, for example, the ME panel for NICE was (maybe still is) all psych-based when ME is neurological and it has taken 17 years to get CBT and GET removed from NICE protocols for ME - one doesn't help and one can make you relapse badly and even kill you, neither is a cure as there isn't one! Hopefully, this doesn't go ahead as nothing announced yet and sounds much like it was set up pre-election. There is also the issue that politicians and media keep saying get people off PIP and back to work but PIP is for disabled people who have extra costs whether employed or not and can actually pay for people to be able to stay employed with extra costs of transport, motability etc.

No pip won't stop there's no plans for it too, what there saying is that PIP / DWP always requires more evidence of a care plan in place or support and medication. Without medication that your prescribed it makes the idea of getting pip harder as there's no medication proof, and they would rather treat people with talking therapies and get them back Into work that way. It's a horrible position to be in especially if your struggling with the idea of it now due to conditions etc.
