I left the N number on there for folks to look up. Nice job. I worked on the plane a few times. Bill Whitla owned it, he is gone now, but a good guy. Thanks.

Those look very slick! And all out of re-purposed material, nicely done. I have a couple rollers from a treadmill that got pilfered for parts waiting to be used for just such a purpose.

Great use of materials on hand Randy. I liked the way the video flowed like a ballet. The table saw looks like a gem in the rough. Can't beat the vintage tools with no plastic, aluminum or mystery metal.

There is no plastic on this thing. I want to weigh it, I know I can't pick it up. Cast Iron top to bottom. Needs some TLC. Thanks Jim.

Run 3 bolts triangle pattern thru the base plates and you can likely get a lot of that wobble out, maybe make them better to use. I use my material stands a ton on my saw. Super handy!

Gaffer to a young Randy Richard in the early 70’ in a shipyard, ‘hey son go and make a set of adjustable rollers for the joiners shop’. RR to gaffer ‘er um where do I get the stock?’ Gaffer to RR, look around you sonny boy’. Love it randy, great to see the extension is progressing. Kindest regards. Joe.

Hi Randy, good to see you're doing well. A tip for when you oil your timber (from your previous video) - get a long nap roller (similar width to your boards) to apply the oil and then lay it off with a brush to work it into the grain. This'll get it on much faster with far less effort. Same if you use paint. Stay safe and well :)

pretty kooolll old table saw there Randy. when you go to doing a restoration on it, be sure to make a new stand for it. the flimsy stands that were provided by the factory are mediocre at best. here's a little secret about these kind of machines: the mass of the base should be equal or up to 1.5 times the mass of the of machine. that really cuts down on the vibration. vibration is one source of drift of the saw blade in the cut. also the increased mass lowers the center of gravity and makes the whole machine less susceptible to tipping over when you encounter increased resistance during the cut. mobile applications of a table saw are less than optimal but you can compensate by the increase in mass of the base. if you have the luxury of space and can dedicate a spot in the shop to the saw, the best thing is to bolt it to the floor as well.. cheers! mike
@RRINTHESHOP

Thanks Mike. I agree the stand is be biggest down fall of the saw, Top heavy and flimsy and difficult to move.
@howder1951

Nice supports Randy, I was looking for designs of the same purpose and saw some that had a tapered lead in to compensate for the sag, which is the only problem I can see if the stock is long and spindly. I'm looking forward to the saw rebuild, cheers, enjoyed!
@RRINTHESHOP
@RRINTHESHOP 4 года назад
Thanks Howder. Yep the sag is an issue. I was thinking of adding a leadin ramp.
@howder1951

@@RRINTHESHOP Yeah that is what I meant by a tapered lead, any how those rollers looked super with that nice paint job, happy shop time!

Now you need to add three equally spaced feet to keep it from wobbling on uneven surfaces

Yep I will do some thing the bottom plates at not flat so some feet are in order, they work for now. Thanks Les.

I need to make or buy a heavy duty set for the infeed and outfeed of my bandsaw. The flimsy set I have for my wood working stuff is too light, especially with the thumb screw height adjusters (they slip too easily).
