I love making butter from scratch - your grannies butter pats/paddles are so cool! Unfortunately cream is so expensive now, at best it works out the same price/if not more expensive to make butter from scratch compared to buying it already made (plus there's the extra expense of your time of course)
Years and years ago, my ex husband worked on a farm and we were given fresh milk. He showed me how to make butter from the cream that rose to the top. No fancy gadgets, just shook it in a jar. Was really neat to see it change.
Frankly, I love making butter, but the cheapest heavy cream where I live is $5.69 (4.44 GBP) for the store brand,(which is superior) for just under a litre. Butter is $6.49 for the name brand, (5.07 GBP) and $4.29 (3.35 GBP) for the inferior store brand each per .4 kg. Doing the math is easy.I would love to be where I could do these things, like make jam.Produce, especially fruit,is insane here,
To see this is umbelievable. In the US, we got taught how the pilgrims made butter at home in a butter churn and they spent hours lifting up the wooden diall and pushing it into the wooden pot to get butter. And here we have homemade butter in your video looking like it is store bought, and wasn't too labor intensive.
