Did i just read you've never had a pair of engineer boots in your hands prior to these? If I read that right then pretty mind blowing. I can already image the 10th pair, if you ever make more, being near perfect. Thank you, from an aspiring shoemaker ✌️

Thank you very much. That is right. I didn't had any engineers in my hands before I made these.

Where on earth do people find the lasts for all these boot styles? I’m dying to get into the art but finding lasts has been the greatest challenge!

Wow.. really applied nearly every good construction technique. Honestly i was expecting a nail down heel, surprised you went with the 360 but you pulled it in tight at the heel. They look great though, the dying came out nice. Heel finish looks a little rough though. That rectangular crease you created down the vamp is.. unusual. Not bad just different, usually when you see that the line is s bit sharper. Interesting backing the leather shank with the thin steel too. Also nice job on the holdfast.. Good hands, from what i could see you didn’t wheel the f*** out of the uppers either. That always drives me crazy. I’ve wondered why that is 🤔 i imagine some machines allow you to adjust the tension on the guide and some people crank it up when stitching. Nice work though and forgive me if I’m critical but I’m just giving you honest insight from a collector/enthusiasts. The thread work.. Like damn, tedious stuff. I’ll have to check out more of your stuff. I’m sure a pair is pretty expensive and justifiably so, screw the materials it’s the labor bro. I don’t think most people understand the effort that goes into making a pair (a good pair) of Handmade boots🤷🏻‍♂️

I can't remember where, but I saw a video once of someone welting with tubes of leather around their little fingers, like thick rings or fingers cut off a glove, instead of athletic tape. I tried them for saddle-stitching some non-shoe projects. Faster and more fun than the awl handle. Perhaps you'd like them.

Great video! Liked and subscribed! I was wondering for my own research purposes what you are putting on the toe puffs at 26:40? I figured it was either some sort of conditioner, an adhesive to attach it to the upper or a a product to stiffen the leather. Any information helps thanks!

Awesome craftsmanship. I found your channel through reddit. Your workshop is very unique. Have you seen or found lasts in Germany that still use a metal plate along the whole bottom for clinch nails?

Why do all the shoe makers scrape the leather a bit? And with glass shards? Thanks
@kustomkraftworkshop8593
@kustomkraftworkshop8593 4 месяца назад
You have to thin out some edges of the leather. And with a piece of glass you have a good control and it's a cheap tool!
