After seeing the serving tray I made with April, Lindsay thought that they would make great Christmas presents. I had a bunch more smaller slabs that I cut a few years ago so this project was perfect for those. I made 8 trays: 6 maple and 2 butternut.

I deal with the rot and punkyness of woods and inlay with stone dust a great deal.. What i find that works best is to soak the area first with Thin CA Glue.. It seals great and also keeps you from using lots and lots of epoxy because it just soaks into the wood.. Give it a try.. I am a big fan of Generals Salad Bowl Finish as well.. Keep up the good work love your vids..

@Squibbleses

Looks nice! I have some of those yellow pyramids too but I find they often end up putting little dents into the work. Do you do anything about that? I've seen the dents in soft woods mostly but I've even seen it happen with cherry. It was especially bad when I was using shellac since it's rather brittle. Any tips on that? Am I putting workpieces that are too heavy? Maybe I should just use more than 4 triangles per piece if it's heavy to distribute the load?
