Hi Taco, it's your ghost granny again. Burrr that cold weather sounds terrible. I live in north Florida 50 MI west of Tallahassee and we are having our coldest weather low 20s and upper 40s in daytime. My old bones and cold weather don't get along too well. Being in my 80s with a very messed up back I don't get out much. I live vicariously thru your energy. You work so hard and as your ghost granny, I'm very proud of your work ethics. Stay safe and take care of yourself.
We are very fortunate where I live in Manchester,England, that our wheelie bins(trash cans)have a blue bin for paper and cardboard;black bin for glass, plastic bottles, cans and small metal objects, green bin for unrecyclables and brown for food and garden waste.Saves alot of hassle. We have scrap men too, thankfully.
At the scrap yard, You throwing that golf club and it hit the water with a perfect splash is epic. See that frequently at the private course I work at. 🙃
Thanks for taking us to the scrap yard Taco! Crank that heater up & go home and snuggle with Salsa! I’m in Missouri and we’ve been below zero for quite a few days! Blessings always! ❤️✝️
I don’t understand why aluminum cans are so low. One of the reasons the drink companies said why they raised prices a few years back was because there was a shortage of cans. What gives? 10 years ago I would get .75 cents a pound. Now they are like 33 cents. I have 464 lbs. saved up hoping 1 day that they will come back up.
Might as well take them to get the money and put it to work. It’s not like they are going up soon. You can buy and sell till it’s what you want. I have an old man near me makes a good supplemental income selling items less than a hundred bucks likes to piddle around
Hey there Taco. Yes today is Tuesday and I have enjoyed tagging along with you. Nice payout for the metal today. I hope that you get your basement fixed. Stay warm and safe Taco.
Always working.good to keep busy.Have you ever asked a plumber or contractor why you have the water problem in the basement? What good is a basement if you can't use it. We live in Florida and wish I had one.
It surprises me that more states don’t have deposit on bottles. We have 5cent deposit on almost all bottles except iced tea, and there are places to go and turn them in that give you 6cents per bottle so I make a penny on every one I turn in, it might not sound like a lot but it gives me more incentive to not throw them in the trash.
Taco stacks! Taco stacks! Taco stacks! For the win of the day !!! Thanks for taking us along! Youvare always so considerate when it comes to how things will be for those of us watching! I very much appreciate that ! I think if you are going there and you have the space for them in the colder season why not is a little bit of pay is better then nothing? We saved about 150 pounds to recycle cans and the place local to me said oh we only take beer cans exclusively? Which is ok but he could have said before he said yeah bring in any cans ? Well anyhow ! Thanks for taking us along! I appreciate you! Stay safe stay great and keep up the good work!!!
My yard doesn't even take cans! But luckily we can put them in our recycling bins, we don't have the deposit scheme in England. Once I've got my furnace and I've melted all my stacked copper into ingots I'll be melting cans into ingots, some yards won't take them but I actually plan to make some sandcasting creations with them and recyle them in my own way anyway. You stay warm too buddy👍🙂
Cans are worth it if you’re willing to stockpile them until you have enough to make some real money on them. I crush them as I get them and fill up trash cans until I have about 4 filled up. I used to have a good source for a lot of cans though. It can take a very long time to get enough though and I rarely drink from cans anymore.
Thanks for sharing Taco👍. Have a great rest of your week and stay warm. Hope yr water situation gets under control. I thinks it's because your house seems to be in a valley. Higher grounds around you? . Maybe install a few more run off drains to the pond from your yard to help get rid of any unthawing water. Stay safe n warm
Thank you for sharing I enjoy the snow and your pond I enjoy your videos keep up the good work God Bless you my friend take care and yes its cold down south BROWNSVILLE Texas today maybe tomorrow we might get warm I like to see the snow but we are not use too we like the sun 🌄☀️
Don't go, thanks for the adventure, sweetie. I'm glad you got to take some more stuff into the scrap yard. Every little bit helps stay warm. You're salsa a hug? Have a good week.😊😊😊😊😊
Back in the 90's my son collected and scrapped cans for pocket change. A few dollars a bag back in the day ❤️. In Maine there is a deposit on containers..cans are 5¢ each being it back you get your nickel back 🎉
There's a 10 cent deposit on our Aluminum cans here in Michigan. Returning them is a pain because half the time the return machines are full or broken.
After we could turn in our cans in Grand Rapids during the pandemic, I discovered that at any one time I couldn’t turn in more than $15 of cans at any one time! My arm was worn out.
I'd keep that roller seat, it would be very handy to have. Buy a wheel, fix it up. If you find you don't use it, it'll be ready to sell. Very cold up here in Wisconsin, -1, wind chill is -35. We have advisorys for the cold till next week!! Makes driving pretty hard, we have about 14 inches of snow so the roads won't melt. Thanks for the interesting video!!
Wow only 35 cents per lb, we get $1.66 per lb here in California. Back in my younger days I made a nice income picking up cans helped my small low paying job.
That is because California has a CRV cash return value of approximately 5 cents per unit. Taco is taking in cans for scrap value of approximately 1.1-1.2 cents per unit. My opinion is that if your state does not have CRV or bottle deposit refund do not bother. Most of the time cans are nasty which who knows what not to mention the bug problem during warmer months.
Hi Taco . I’m sitting here watching and you say it’s Tuesday when this comes out, I like it’s not it’s Wednesday, then I look at the day on the video and it was yesterday’s video. I forgot I didn’t get to watch it yesterday. That messed with my brain a bit. lol. It’s always cool to see you go to the recycling yard. It’s still cooled here in Illinois but it got up to 24 degrees today but it only felt like 13 degrees. Take care out there. PEACE. ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️🥰🥰🥰🦮🦮🦮🦮🦮🦮🦮🥰🥰🥰💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Well I'm glad you got that done. Not everyone is willing to brave the cold. Probably why you are not finding too much. Some people are sissy like me! Enjoyed It though. I love you.❤️💞💞💞🐕🦺❤️💞🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✌️👶
I agree , I should support the Steelers, but I do follow K.C. There is a player on the team that my daughter knows from the YMCA where she previously worked. Skyy Moore. He is a local here just east of Pittsburgh. Go KC.
You speak of brass and its high value. I was in the Navy during the Viet Nam war. Although we were a refueling ship, we also not only supplied other ships with artillery shells but also took their empty brass casings. At times the crew would be so busy and so far behind and the deck so overcrowed that they would throw those heavy brass casings overboard just to get the out of the way. I guess though that wasn't as wasteful as those aircraft carriers pushing helicopters over the sides to make room for more people.
We had zero this morning but now up to 12! About 6” of snow on the ground and more coming tonight! (Sw Idaho) Your shoes look way too slick for me! I wear either waterproof hiking boots or snow boots this time of year! 😂 Try to stay warm!!!
Where we live you get zip for aluminum cans. Really not worth saving so we give them to someone else who saves them. Same in Montana just not worth saving. California is a bit higher and a friend takes our cans when we are there. They also had coupons for the amount they would give you a pound for cans. It made a little more sense save them there.
Next time you go to the yard, ask the scale master J to give you a printout of what you brought in for recycle. It will have the pounds and how much they paid out to you. I recycled 75,000 pounds last year, which seems to be my average for the last 4 years.
Oh man, that's flat city at the yard. One thing about the little work seat someone who needs it would still buy it and jury rig a wheel.Love your channel ❤ What's really scary is the rate food is climbing, kinda makes us work twice as hard
If your sump pump is running alot I assume you have a well, check well pump you could have busted pipe letting water into your sump. I have seen it happen and had my water line break didn't know till I had water comming up and flowing down my driveway, and had a good friend tell me his sump pump was running a lot and not had rain told him to call plumber and pressure test line from meter to house and was right had to dig up and run new line
Taco, yes they are worth it, put them in the garage and squash them down, it is a dollar more, and even if it is only a dollar that dollar adds up. At least that is what I have learned.
That about 7.5 cents each usa currency which I would be totally ok with. I believe Taco is doing it for solely scrap value which is about 1.1 cents per can.
Michigan & Oregon were the only 2 states for 10 cents per unit. Good to hear CT enacted the same thing. Is the infrastructure present to return cans at lot's of locations? In Michigan all the grocery stores have return machines usually with a $25 limit. Small mom and pop places usually have a limit of 3-5$.
I alays love your videos, but my inquiring mind has a question, that I'm sure has a good answer: Why do you roll down your van window before you get out? I'm just a curious person, lol.
I love the roller seat, never saw one! I am surprised that you don't have an extra wheel somewhere.🤔 Or take the rest of the wheels off and sell as storage?
I liked seeing the prices for metal. My husband recycles cans for the money. He collects them til his storage area is full. I think he usually gets $40. That's alot of cans. There is no school in alot of Illinois counties today due to fridgid temps. Making it hard for furnaces to keep up.
Thanks Taco...aka "Hardest Workin' Man on the Planet" always enjoy 'hanging out' w/you~ $57...Great! I think some nice Hearty Hot Soup and a couple pieces of toasty, crusty flavored bread is in order when you get home~ Like the rest of the U.S...here in Michigan it's BRRRRRR!... :( Hugs to Salsa girl~
@19:57 I have Insomnia so I did the math. TS got 1.1 cents per can which has been standard scrap value for the past year+. Another utuber once stated that he doesn't scrap cans because it takes a truck bed full just to make $20. I think I'd rather pull plug ends🤣
