Discover the ingenious adaptation of Vietnam and Laos in this compelling documentary. In The Bak, Vietnam, locals utilize "Bomb Boats," transformed from discarded aircraft fuel tanks, as their primary mode of transport. We explore how these boats are intricately linked to daily life and survival in the region.
The narrative shifts to Laos, where we visit "Spoon Village" in Phonsavan. Here, villagers craft spoons from unexploded ordnances (UXOs), remnants of past conflicts, turning deadly debris into everyday utensils and symbols of resilience. Witness how these communities transform a haunting legacy into tools of peace and recovery, demonstrating profound adaptability and hope.

The kid with the fear of that drone has probably heard stories about things flying overhead dropping cluster bombs and stuff on their villages and in their jungles and rivers...

Thanks Andrew for making video like this that the Secret War in Laos was slowly known to many people. I was born in that country and vividly still remember fleeing to the jungle with my parents and the sound of bombs exploding in the distant.

Also Seen Old Drop tanks used here in Australia, One was @ Albury in a Out-Rigger design, also another in Yarrawonga Victoria which was more a "Pontoon" Style but on a Dam on a Farming Property .. Nice to see them Recycled here, dread to think about crap that was left there, more dangerous than the Drop Tanks they could be mixed with ...

Cannabis is what is adding the spice. It has a very unique black peppery type of spice to it and Im guessing that was what you were tasting. Also, the cannabis was not ripe and no flowers were used. If cannabinoids were present they would mainly consist of cbd and very little thc.

The synchronicity lately for me is out of this world... I e-mailed a dear friend the other day, who is older than me and currently dealing with some health issues of cellular overgrowth. I was telling them about the benefits of eating cannabis, more specifically Rick Simpson Oil. I was recently gifted some more flowers from a friend who gardens, as my own harvest is gone, and I cook them into foods when I have them. During the growing season, I even snip flowering-tops from the cannabis plants, at various stages of maturity (although the later in flowering, the better, with more resin) and cook them into foods, like with this chicken!!! It certainly can "get you high", but that's not really the point. More importantly it is majorly beneficial, physiologically, and even neuro-protective. It also tends to induce another quality of sleep, and duration, usually for the better, although the length-of-sleep can be alarming to some people, and depending on expectations, etc... Definitely Cannabis is one of the greatest herbs for protection against radiation also. There is much more to say than this, but it was crazy to see this come up in your video, especially today.

itd be a bit weird of a convo starter since mant of the lao in the states and abroad were refugee (royalist supporting) lao and those who live in laos now are laotians who generally supported the pathet lao (communist forces). there may be ties to the homeland still but only a plurality of diaspora lao. kinda like asking vietnamese refugees in the states who were mostly south vietnamese what they think about modern-day vietnam despite the vietnam of today was their communist enemy in the past and a grudge is still there

the people making the wars happens are not the ones feeling the aftermath. there's probably stories of people of the same blood killing each other thinking they're doing a deed for the sake of their nation and families. pretty cool that they can give those instruments of war a second life and being useful. i think vietnam is coming back ecomically but laos and cambodia needs some love. this is an assumption but i think vc also came in and did their part too because everything is fair in love and war...as they say.

vc vietcoong did thir part? in bombing laos? vc didnt even have a proper airforce defending the skies of hanoi, their capitol during the war! they had to rely on north korean pilots flying loaned russian planes though most were struck down by the end of the war. the americans had the skies completely, vc was a land base guerilla group with very little in munitions, they relied on their jungle terrain and improvised traps like bamboo spike pits and step activated swing impalements. what you see in laos was 100% american bombing campaign effects, and the bombs left behind by us

50 years after the war and it is beyond spoons and boats, it’s the people, real humans that are still being harmed and killed by the indiscriminate bombing . Laos was a Democratic country during the war and the US bomb the hell out of it and the question is why? Ho chi Minh trail dodges in and out between Laos and Vietnamese borders but the US pretty much bomb the whole country yet Vietnam, the country which was the country the US was fighting suffered much less. Videos like this needed be done and appreciate but with more historically details. My family is safe in the US but there are still too many Lao people suffering from the war 50+ years on. For me this brings back raw anger but I don’t know who to direct my anger, so little is being done to clear the land of the bombs to be productive by the US and the Lao/ Vietnamese communist government. Remember, Laos was a Democratic country during the war/ bombing. Most Laotians and the then government was against current communist government. Many were willing to fight but in 1975 the US packed up and left.

Very untrue some Maybe some yes. About 260 million bombs were dropped on laos. Yes some of those boats are absolutely bomb shells cutting half. You could clearly see markings and colors of some matching th3 same ones amercia dropped on laos. They didn't drop 260 million fuel tanks lol

Hey Andy, This was a most unpleasant flashback to my childhood. As a kid I was afraid I was going to have to go to war. I saw the war on television every day. I had a cousin that was a Navy Fighter Pilot there. Sadly, he did not come home. His name was Guido Carloni. After all that mankind has done to each other it's horrifying that we still do it. I can't describe the emotional rollercoaster this video has put me on today. All I know is that I have not seen my cousin in 50 years. Search, Ezekiel 39:9. Seeya next time ✝️🙏🕊️
