why need to support weather station?

@@jenkinlu1198 because meshtastic is a great system for making remote weather stations work.

Can’t find where to ask a question so thought I’d ask here. One of the suggested use cases of the T1000E is ‘Asset Tracking’ - I guess then you need a second node on the meshtastic mesh? And for this case what would you suggest for the second node? I am guessing it does not need GPS or be waterproof, maybe a USB stick? I am fairly sure I read of a USB stick already but it wasn’t supported by many operating systems. A Single Board Computer from the same company that made the USB I think.

I hope you will get also for 433mhz , in Eastern Europe may be better .

I have two Meshtastic T-Beam units. My HAM radio group has about 20 members with Meshtastic units scattered around our local community. We are seeing range of over 40 km.

Ordered the card, hoping it ships with that clear cover, which looks awesome. I'm looking forward to the Indicator unit as well for my vehicle. Amusingly I have a magsafe phone charge setup just the same way your team shows off on the website - so that's a super smart addition? Option? But regardless, the external antenna is probably required for vehicle usage - I don't know about your testing but in my car (also a Tesla) even with a 3dbi antenna, it seem like getting messages out and back is really dicey. I would certainly use one to replace my "just throwing a radio on the dash". Would even be fun just to have on a desk to watch messages go by, or the "node map" option to see the locations of nearby nodes as they move about.

That t1000 should have an integrated solar panel

What does the button on the T1000E now do?

I have 2 SenseCAP K1100 Sensor Development kits: can I convert one of them to work with meshtastic? I just ordered 1 of these development kits (1 was in stock) but I need something for it to talk to. Thanks. I do have a T1000A but only 1. I could convert that to meshtastic but then I lose normal Lora I think. Also I was out during the livestream so missed the link to how to do this. Is the T1000A I have waterproof? I’ve been carefully guarding it from getting wet.

T1000-A supports IP65, it can catch rain, but can't put in water long time
@eberger02
@eberger02 22 дня назад
I don’t have any experience with Meshtastic but 1) small is good but I don’t mind the size of the T1000A. Depends if the aerial is as good. 2) not experienced meshtastic but can you bridge meshtastic to Lora? Then all LoRa devices could be added to meshtastic. I am thinking two Lora chips and an ESP 32 to interface them? 3) add a keyboard. That is my plan for using the development kit. My phone battery is always dying. I would want to be able to interface with the device without a phone.
@eberger02
@eberger02 22 дня назад
The inspiration for idea for 3 is your solar panel. Even with a battery your device will easily outlast my phone. If you are going to add solar power you also need a way to send messages without a phone, even if they are simplified. Have seen keypads interfaced to arduino before: maybe like a 1990s mobile phone…
@eberger02
@eberger02 22 дня назад
The inspiration for my answer 2 is that I have an M2 Multiplatform in local mode interfaced to an A1101, a T1000A, Data Logger and 2 K1110 sensor dev kits. Bridging them between local and meshtastic would give me the best of both worlds. I suspect by the time anyone has a weather station they also have a gateway. Like my current Sonoff iHost can bridge local Zigbee/Wifi devices to the local “matter” network.
@jenkinlu1198
@jenkinlu1198 19 дней назад
good idea, for 2, I think maybe the software is difficult to support both lorawan and meshtastic
@eberger02
@eberger02 19 дней назад
@@jenkinlu1198 that is why I thought two LoRaWAN chips. One chip to do LoRaWAN. One to do Meshtastic and a brains to do the work in between. I may do it myself, if they don’t create a bridge, with an arduino and two LoRaWAN, but the machine LoRA shined is a shield so that is only one. I need to find another arduino compatible LoRa as there are still pins available for a second interface. I’m willing to bet by the time you’re spending as much as a weather station you get a hub. I think if they want to make meshtastic variants they should start with cheap stuff. Also what if the mesh is weak where you are and it breaks to the weather station; the data would need to be cached for later transmission. Okay if the mesh is always great where you are.

What LoRA frequency is the T1000?
@eberger02
@eberger02 22 дня назад
I think it is universal and you select the frequency when configuring it. I kinda just selected EU868 without thinking but I’m pretty sure I had to select the region.
@PiataDacia
@PiataDacia 22 дня назад
@@eberger02 therefore the antenna is not calibrated to a certain frequency!?
@eberger02
@eberger02 22 дня назад
@@PiataDaciaI think it needs to be a near frequency, so I’m not sure the same antenna could do 868 and 433, but 868 and 915 are close enough to be done with the same antenna. Like my WiFI router has separate 2.4 and 5GHz antennas but I can do different bands near to those numbers.

@@eberger02 thanks for your reply, make sense to have two antennas
@eberger02
@eberger02 22 дня назад
@@PiataDacia it will be optimum at a very specific frequency and then get worse the further from the optimum it gets. If the frequency is quite near there is no need to change antenna. I believe LoRA can at 433Mhz; I doubt the device can work on that frequency as-well as about 900.
