But hey, it doesn't mean you can't go back and play the series again! I recently dug up my PS2 and started playing Jak 2 to finally get all of the Precursor Orbs, then I'll move onto Jak 3, and then start the HD collection. I just hope that Naughty Dog continue Jak and Daxter again.
You know there are rumors going around on the internet that there is going to be a jak 4 for the PS4 this year 2016, because there was some game pictures or game clips that may have been leaked out on the internet that makes me think they are finally going to make another jak and daxter game after about half a decade since "Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier."
Fun is, as a kid it took me half a year to escape that tank in the third mission after the prison escape. But I never thought it was too hard, I rather thought I was too bad and have to become better. As a result, now I am a master at this game. Give me any mission and I'll complete it in a few tries. But to be honest, if I would play it today for the first time, I would probably drop it soon because it's too hard.
same here, this games are about 40% of my childhood. As a result, we mastered it, because we failed a million times and tried again and again and again.
I don't. It really is a great game, but I would rather live in a zombie apocalypse than in this ruined world. I mean, there is the evil dictator inside, who has no scruple to kill hundreds of innocent civillians to keep his reign, plus a massive deadly creature force outside the city that intends to kill every human on sight. Man, you could live in the warhammer 40k universe as well ^^
I adore all 3 games but I wish the 2 sequels kept the colourful whimsical vibe of the first game. When I do my replay thrus of these games I always have the best time with Jak 1. There’s something so mesmerizing about that world. The art direction, level design, color pallet and seamless open world really give that game a charm the other 2 lack
It was one of my FAVOURITE games on ps2. I find it odd that in Precursor of Legacy he was a total mute but the first time I hear Jak talk.......it REALLY shocked me!
Jak has really done a lot of growing up this game, the plot actually starts out with him spending some time in jail, he becomes hardened, when he emerges he's definitely changed and daxter takes notice of that immediately. Jak comes out of his shell during his prison stay, I guess he spends some time with himself and as he comes out he has a personality. Which surprises Daxter
fun is, since I was a kid when I played it for the first time, It took me about half a year to escape the tank in the third mission outside the prison. And you know what? I never thought the game was too hard, I was more like I am too bad and have to become better. As a result, I mastered this game like no other game, I can do any mission in this game and won't take more than two or three tries (and only in the real hard missions, I should do most of them in a single try).
Outset Yeah, I wish they had kept the game a bit more free roaming like in Jak 1. I didn't like that you needed security clearance to see the rest of the city and you couldn't refuse missions like you could in Jak 1. It would have also been nice to see branching paths where if you helped Torn more you get a good ending and if you help Kor or the Baron more you get a bad ending. I like what they did with Jak 3, but I think there was still some things they could have changed. The racing sections were annoying, for instance.
Well it is a ps2 game after all. They didnt have the technology like we do now and were limited in what they could do. I think that they were trying for a cartoonish GTA and for the most part were successful. For the time though this was a VERY big game with lots to do (go figure). If it wasn't so difficult I would play it again since the story was fantastic but I can only take so much punishment xD
BlitzDuzm I reckon there was probably a valid reason for them changing it, if I had to guess it probably made certain areas a bit too hard to see so they brightened it up a bit.
well Im pretty sure that Erol is above her simply because barron wouldn't had hesitated in killing her if she became an problem, now the same could be said for erol but he is actually more useful imo simply cause that is barrons right hand man, usually those who knows all of the secrets to barrons plans usually is the 2nd highest rank next to the leader ( barron ). samething in military, with security clearance, the higher the rank is, the closer you are to the files/generals in this case erol.
you want a new villain with a familiar face to have the most impact for an antagonist to be more personal/relatable /impactful at the end of a series, that's my guess
i have a Demo Disc with Jak II, what really sucks is the very short time limit, i wonder if a special cheat code could halt the timer, it is really sad, and the bad thing is the Timer does set the times differently, at the pump station: 1-2 Minutes, then Game Over, other levels where only few seconds long, sry 4 my bad english
well true, I don't understand why they did that with AC, I think it is because 2, brotherhood and revelations all had the same character, but Naughty Dog did give the other company permission to make the game, so technically it is an officially sequel and is probably the closest thing ur gonna get to jak 4.
@thatsongperson Erol is commander of the krimzon guard and Ashelin is captain. That's why she says for Jak to watch out for Erol and that she can't protect him from Erol because Erol has a higher rank than Ashelin. So, Ashelin has no authority over Erol if he tries to kill Jak. Understand?
right. but i did say that jak 1 had a lighthearted touch. which is what they should have stayed with. having jak suddenly talk just felt weird. and to give the players a smack in the face they made it as if daxter knew already that he could talk right at the beginning of jak II!
I just platinumed 1st and 2nd game, Precursor Legacy was still amazing, albeit short. Second game was clearly not as good gaming experience. Some bugs and very annoying missions. It wasn't too hard for me, but there are sections where you might get stuck because you don't get your ammo back when you die. In some missions you can't get any health packs. In some missions where you have to co-op with AI they can fail and that's the end of it. No checkpoints. Sometimes when I saved with full dark eco, I lost all of it after reloading? In the part where metal heads invade the city, there's a strange huge shadow (bug) following you, hitting you, and you can only run. In the next mission after that, every time you die you go to the race track for some weird reason. Took me 18 hours to complete, first game dunno, no time count, maybe 10+? I would give the first game 9/10 and second 7/10. Jak 3 will be my next game.
Also sometimes it clearly showed that it's saving but it didn't and I had to redo whole previous mission. I missed the platforming from Jak 1. Yeah there was some of it, but it didn't have the same feel with guns and stuff.
yeah, you lose your dark eco when you used dark Jak and die, so what? I never even used it, it's not necessary. I mean, it's fun and powerful, but it takes too long to summon the dark eco. And the only part of the game where you really messed up when you die after shooting your ammo empty is the final fight against the Metall Head Leader. And, in case you haven't noticed, you can just collect ammo, die, collect ammo and die a few times, and your ammo is full again since you also keep any ammo you collected before your death.
oh come on, i'm sure you can think of a few. like right in the beginning of jak II when errol just comes out of nowhere and has a crimson guard knock out jak. no explanation whatsoever on the connection to him. and another thing, if the precursors were a mystery of the past then why were they found in the FUTURE? the same goes with samos' younger self being there
well if you had played Assasins Creed, it goes from AC1-2 then branches off to brotherhood, Revelations then eventually AC3, I figured its the samething here, so you're technically right jak x is an sequel but Jak 4 is STILL not have been claimed and jak and daxter lost frontier is made from another company and not naughtdog ( uncharted ) with that said, people or atleast fans can agree their is no jak 4 so they can still be made, but NG decided not to reboot/or make jak4 but instead last of us
I think that happened because Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy was too similar to the Crash Bandicoot series. Even the character himself (Jak) was similar to Crash as they both didn't have a voice. I think Naughty Dog wanted the Jak and Daxter series to have its own personality. However, I do hope that one day there will be a game where Jak goes back to Samo's hut to stop Gol and Maia or something.
Actually you are correct, jak x is the official jak 4 and jak and daxter the last frontier is jak 5 because they all fall in that chronological order. Just because it doesn't say jak 4 on the cover doesn't mean it isn't jak 4, it's still jak 4....
It was a surprising change but I think it was a good idea to go edgy. You dont really expect the characters to be all cutesy ALL the time do you? Theyre growing up and getting more mature.
right, but they didn't do this with crash bandicoot. jak was a cartoon just as that series was. i just can't get past them going with a light hearted game followed by gun violence and slight curse words :\
Naughty Dog people are beging you for a new Jak and Daxter game Please drop Uncharted and The Last Of Us and give us a real game we can enjoy..... Who Agrees?????????
i just don't understand, the first jak game was a light hearted and humorous game, and then the sequels just suddenly have to have this dark and serious tone...
No I just think the only jokes you seem to "get" are the ones that are obviously an "in your face" type of simple joke, which is why you would come to the conclusion that dax is the only funny one. cause several characters had brought so many laughing tears that MOST ppl would get, except you. & the whole dark/serious thing is true but what makes jak2-3 better is that its "balanced" with humor/ depth plot/ growth which jak1 is missing 2 /3 of. SO jak1 lacks SOME humor with MORE adventure. peace
Well guys Jak 5 got announced for the PS5. Hope this time it’s for real. I know the story line is complex and it’s risky to make a prequel. But honestly it’s worth the risk in my opinion. It’s been over a decade of wait now 🤤 Give me thumbs up, by the time this game comes out we will beat Covid 19. Naughty dog you got to safe the world hurry up.
pS2 had 360 analogue. PS3 and PS4 have 16 direction and Vita has a strange analogue nub. These factors could contribute to people having different experiences.
