Do MK4 em diante, eles abandonaram a simples digitalização e passaram a utilizar mocap (motion capture, ou simplesmente captura de movimentos), em que os atores vestem trajes escuros adornados com "lâmpadas" para desenhar os movimentos e animações de cada personagem.

Jeremy Robertson Dude your looking at it all wrong. Even Yoshinori Ono, the lead producer of Street Fighter respects and acknowledged MK. Yeah Street Fighter is a more technical and complex fighting game. And all fighting games in the 90's were rivals but none of that was to be taken seriously. It doesn't take anything away from the massive popularity and success Mortal Kombat has achieved.

Same. Games had more heart, more charm, without a doubt, and we experienced the biggest jump in graphics tech there has ever been (going from 2D to full 3D!). Plus, we had the golden age of arcade games IMO too. QUALITY dayz to have grown up in.
Agora que eu assisti a esse video é que eu penso o quanto nos deviamos dar valor a certos jogos de SNES ou outro console antigo. Pois, apesar da imagem e sons serem limitados, existe muita gente e muito trabalho por tras de um game que é aparentemente simples e rapido de se zerar.

ExtremeDeathman Are you serious? That has always applied to the gaming industry, but with it's larger growth over the years it simply just became the norm. That said, Indie titles and small gaming companies still carry the same attitude the 90's had.
Mortal Kombat 2 was my first TV video game that i played in 1997 when i was of 9, this was the amazing experience i can't explain also love the dan forden's appearance after uppercut. UMK 3 was my favorite and love it, also i used to draw Mortal Kombat characters in my school days. I think Mortal Kombat made me a gamer and an artist too...Thanks to Developers... this game is a part of my life....

O custo é alto e o gamers de hoje 80% são muito nutelas para saber o quanto era difícil produzir um jogo, foi uma época que se fazia muito com pouco, equipes envolvidas, hoje 3 caras fazem um jogo...jogos como mk ou até como gran turismo 2 onde cada som de cada um dos carros foi digitalizado onde vc mechia em cada ajuste do carro ooo saudade
pena que não rola mais sprites. vou te contar uma parada nada a ver com games, mas que vai te ilustrar a dificuldade em trabalhar com essa tecnologia do primeiro mortal kombat: eujá trabalhei em uma gráfica com impressão e arte visual; imagine um pôster de uns 2x4 metros, com uma imagem comum, tipo uma garota de biquíni na praia. o arquivo com essa única foto era entre 1 e 2 giga; imagine o espaço necessário para simplesmente armazenar um jogo desses feito hoje em dia? infelizmente, sprites são passado, principalmente em jogos que pedem tanta fluidez de movimento como um jogo de luta.
Foi um sucesso mundial porque ariscaram tudo do mais alto profissionalismo a improviso e valorizaçao dos participantes na ideia do jogo .. colocaram alma na ideia e o resultado foi incrível
Especially the original arcade version. None of the console versions even compare, especially the old 16bit consoles like SNES & SEGA's, that was like playing MK3/UMK3 on low settings, whereas arcade version looked & sounded amazing!
well of course they were inferior, how could you expect Genesis and Snes even run this game. I think they are pretty decent, looked and played the best for its time.

I remember catching this on TV one day I missed school. It was so cool to watch how behind the scenes footage of how it all came together. After watching this I changed the way I wrote my 3 to the way it is in the logo for years to come lol

Jay West I miss those years. All I ever did was play videos games. I still like Mk2 the best out of all of them just because it was a huge leap from the first game. I still remember seeing the cabinet for the first time with Raiden on the side it was awesome. I played the hell out of the Ultimate Mk3 too can't even count the hours. Even back then I knew there was a lot of hard work put into the games by a team of people not just some money hungry company.

infelizmente, sprites ficaram no passado. não compensa mais fazer jogos nesse formato. alguns indies ainda insistem, mas perceba que são jogos graficamente simples (apesar de alguns desenvolvedores fazerem mágica com esses poucos recursos). só vai ter mk em 3d agora... :/
Concordo tenho certeza que ia ficar muito melhor que os mortal kombat que fazem nos dias de hoje com dublagem chibata e bonecos de computador sem vida e que se movimentam na velocidade da Luz so merda que tira todo o realismo que tinha os primeiros 3 jogos que é obra de arte na minha umidade opinião
The best part is the great character selection, soundtrack, perfect arenas. And yes, real models of people and realistic movements, and this is 1995. Actual in 2018 and much better than new parts.
Meus pensamentos agora retornaram à minha infância, pois eu tinha um Super Nintendo e jogava muito o Mortal Kombat. Os gráficos eram realistas porque eles usaram pessoas reais para produzir o jogo. É muito legal saber que os personagens do jogo que fez parte da infância de muita gente existem. Talvez alguns já podem ter morrido, mas creio que muitos estão vivos, porém velhos.
i grew up in the 80s and 90s and im still amazed that with al the hard work that goes into making a game especially a good game that they are even done at all that there are people willing to do all that hard ass tedious work and that it comes out like this im just so grateful there are people willing to make videosgames still cause its hard work making one from scratch

Detalhe: Os caras faziam os personagens assistindo filmes do Van Dame, Shwazernegger, Stalone e outros atores que faziam filme de luta. Sabia dessa? Eles deixavam os filmes rolando nas televisões para servir de inspiração. O Kano do mk1 foi assistindo exterminador do futuro 2. Aquele olho vermelho foi tirado de lá. O murro no saco do Cage foi inspirado no Grande Dragão Branco. A Sonya do MK1 foi inspirada na Cyhtia (que fazia filmes de artes marciais nos anos 90). Os monges foram de filmes de luta asiáticos e assim por diante... Até convidaram o Van Damme para ser o Jonny Cage mas o cara tava ocupado filmando Street Fighter o filme!!!! hehehe
Os jogos atuais, os caras jogam por 1 ou 2 meses, talvez 3 e depois descartam. Não são jogos ruins mas enjoam logo. Esses gráficos tipo bonecos envelhecem muito rápido. Mortal Kombat 9 é de 2011 e já está completamente datado. Parece um jogo inacabado. Por mais que seja divertido não tem o mesmo charme de ver um ator digitalizado levando porrada. Eu acredito que iriam vender como água no deserto um Mortal Kombat no estilo do Mk3. Talvez o gameplay precise ser mais lento ou travado como antigamente mas iam vender muito. Sabe aquele história do Sonic Mania? Que tal um Mortal Kombat Klassic. ?
