I’m Persian Armenian and grew up eating garmeer pilaf (red rice). Same recipe but with stew meat instead of potatoes. My favorite Persian dish- a tie between ghorme sabsi and fesenjoon.

Quick question:- Years ago an Iranian friend made us all a dish that was similar to Chilli Con Carne, however, he called it Stambly. I have been looking for a similar recipe for years now but can't find anything on the internet. Did he have the wrong name or is there another Iranian dish with rice that consists of spiced mince, potato and some other ingredients but resembles a chilli con carne? Kind regards.
