You should make a ring tree to display your retired wedding rings. There's many kinds that could be made to add to them, both made from wood and/or wire.

The mini lathe opens the door to so many possibilities that complement woodworking! I have a mini lathe (actually 2) and a mini mill (LMS Seig) sharing my woodshop, and they see plenty of use! Lesson learned the hard way: always part off as close to the chuck as possible! The first time I ever parted on my Grizzly G0765, I was too far away, cutting aluminum, and the stock climbed the parting blade. It immediately locked the machine up, shattered the blade (read projectiles!), and destroyed the gears in the headstock! It’s also a good practice to start your cut at the desired location and cut in a little way then back out and cut an overlapping groove adjoining the first. Just keep alternating from one to the other to reduce the friction on the parting tool. May the swarf be with you!

I was having a hard time keeping motivated lately. Just hit kind of a rut. Call it what you want, but I found myself getting frustrated with the world around me and blah blah blah (oh, poor me). Then I was listening to some of your older "Making It" podcasts and you talked about the same thing happening to you. The rut I mean. But then you started changing it up and trying new things. I went out and bought some leather and stuff and decided I was going to try to make myself a wallet. I just got done taking a beginners welding class today. You have helped me to realize that I can BUILD the world around me. Your podcasts and videos have become so important to me. Not just how motivating they are, but the honesty you have in them about how you feel at that moment and where you're at. Thank you again for everything you do. I say it a lot, but gratitude is a big part of my life, and I just have to say again that what you do MATTERS.

the retired ring gallery should also have a picture from each year to go with the rings... that way when you look back at them, you not only see the rings, but some memory from that year.

I make rings a lot at home, I always bore from the outside to the inside to avoid chatter. My suggestion for a ring display is getting a set of antlers. You can use one side for Kelly, and one side for you, and just slip them on as you retire them.

Hey brother, you should make a 3D tree of life stand that you can hang the rings off of the branches to display them. The older rings would of course be on the lower branches. A tree of life to show the growth of your marriage.

How about making a dresser top tree stand to display your past rings. Maybe put like 25 years worth of branches on the tree? You can make 2 trees if you plan to keep up the tradition for 50 years.

Dave, how about a box similar to how collectors show off golf balls or shot glasses? I'm thinking making each row as a separate shelf, each one hold five rings. Then as you start the next five years together, you can just make another 5-ring shelf and glue/attach to the top or bottom of the assembly. Nice job on the rings, they look awesome

The deal with the subscriptions is that it only gives notifications if the viewer uses the dropdown (that comes down if you hit the bell on PC) and selects ALL notifications, instead of just personalized. I don't know when they put that into effect, but all of my old subs are automatically set to "personalized," causing me not to get any notifications until I change it. It's yet another not-really-an-upgrade that just screws everything up.

This is pretty sweet, I would try and avoid making cuts with your compound, but rather use your carriage...the reason being that unless you have indicated your compound in to an exact 0° angle, you'll be cutting a taper rather than evenly taking down the material....the compound is really mainly for cutting tapers and threading and a handful of other useful things....it's nice they put an encoder on that hand wheel to help with precision, but best practice for what you're doing is really to move the entire carriage for radial turning operations...
