Making the Old House Look New Again

People are so critical. Check out the colours of houses in similar climates- my goodness Nova Scotia has extreme weather and very different house colours- yellow, pale blue, pink etc. you live there, you live with it so you pick what you like. Personally I think it’s going to be lovely when all is done. Trust your vision you’ve proven it over and over

It's just gorgeous. If I could paint my house I'd choose a dusty purple. Leaning towards the bluey purples. Not bright. Kind of a soft stormy purple.

Honestly, when I first saw the painted wall, it reminded me of the color that old barns fade to in the sun and rain, years after being painted with "Barn Red Paint." That being said, the angle of the sun, computer screens, and even peoples eyes, can make a huge difference in how a color is perceived. Bottom line, I think the color looks lovely and definitely DIYfferent!

To me…. It doesn’t look pink..and it doesn’t look purple… it looks like ‘aged wine’. .😉 And I love it. ❤

It's your house, you get to pick whatever color you want and like. If you change your mind in a few years it can be changed, the magic of paint! It's our rainy season in Florida, it rains every afternoon, at least it's just rain and not thunderstorms.

My husband was a painter during our college years. Where we lived in central Florida, many of the older houses were painted pink. My favorite house he did was like yours ..wood frame with a large front porch. The owners choose the most beautiful pink shade and accented with a deep green shade and white trim. Lots of beautiful oak trees with moss. It remains one of my favorite houses. Good choice.

Perhaps you should explain that Florida is a tropical type environment and that houses are painted more tropical type colors there.

People can be so dumb. I really like the color. The bottom line is, it's your house to do as you wish! The white trim really does pop against the darker color. You do such a great job on every job that you tackle! Carry on.

I am imaging a crisp white lattice. The color pallette truly makes the house 'pop' against the lush greenery. I am a fan of both different and DIYfferent! Being predictable is easy. Actually being brave enough to 1) live your life/lives your way, 2) enjoy a bit of whimsical joy, 3) be non-judgmental and 4) do no harm = a life well-lived. I adore the color. It's much like the children's bathroom floor tiles and the medallion floor tiles in your foyer. I never thought Eevee and Doug would consider those options but they are perfection! Same with the Aged Wine paint by Sherwin Williams. Since moving to Florida it seems Eevee, Doug, Belle and Maverick are enjoying more color and adventures in their choices. Doug occasionally wears shorts and green Tshirts. Eevee also wears shorts, skirts and very flattering colors. Belle and Maverick seem very happy in warmer weather and enjoy discovering bugs and other cool treasures. Well done!

Hey Doug, it doesn't matter what color you paint your home. It's your home. If you want to paint it, puce green. It's your home. I'm proud of you and your family for taking the initiative to re-do your home and have pride in home ownership. There are so many people who could care less. Do what you want, and don't let people bother you. Their opinions do not matter when it comes down to it.

With the sun is had a pink hue, but I had painted the garage at the homestead barn red so I know that was NOT it. Thought the bedroom was closer to a pale terra cotta. And you did the walls inside the screen porch looks great!

My grandmother was a fancy lady. She had an interior decorator help her with her master bedroom back in the late 1970's. The room was large enough for a sitting area where the decorator placed to upholstered swivel rockers in a beautiful velvety fabric, she called raspberry. I loved those chairs when they were new and still love them today where they live in my little library. When I saw your house color I instantly thought of my raspberry chairs. That's what I'd call the color... decorators ought to know! ;)

I think it is a pretty color, no matter what color it is. It is very you guys. Would I choose it for my house? No, but I wouldn't choose normal, either. I would go with cobalt blue, indigo, turquoise, or bright purple. It's good to be different as long as you are not worried about resale value. Right now our house is barn red. Not a color we chose, but it will take ages to save up to have it painted. We are not able bodied enough to paint it ourselves anymore like we did with our old house and we are saving to have our bathroom redone, which is twice as much as we thought. I sure wish we could do it ourselves like you guys.

Love the color and suits your home to a "T". Certainly not Pepto Bismal pink as that's Barbie pink. UGH. This Aged Wine is a bit whimsical and fun. It changes from more pink to more purple. This color is a rare combo of bold statement color and just plain fun. Can't wait to see it all done and sitting in the landscape.

I don't understand why people are so critical. I painted my house and everyone said it looked like thousand island dressing. It was beautiful and appropriate for my boca style home. I noticed that many in my neighborhood started painting their homes with less traditional colors. I never thought of myself as a trend setter but I guess I was.
