This coin ring was fun! I started with an AU quality Morgan silver dollar and then thinned it down so it was less bulky on the finger and then brought the inside of the band to a high polish. Then I hand made the 14k gold spinner to fit over it. After a stippling on the band I captured it on the Morgan dollar by expanding the ends. The stardust finish captures a ton of light in the sun and really sparkles!

When you smooth out the inside, do you account for 1 or 2 sizes up? Just curious?
@CoinRingsfromTheMint
@CoinRingsfromTheMint Год назад
It’s usually more than that. What I do is smooth it out and then finish Swedish wrapping it to my target size

Hi Skylar, great looking ring. How did you get that awesome texture. Also would like to say thank you for inspiring me to take up coin ring crafting myself.

Thanks I appreciate it! I used a bur that was worn out and ground facets on the end and used that in an engraving machine to make all the little shiny facets in the metal :)

Hello Skyler, always great instructional video. I follow your video on how to make a coin ring perfect every time. My issue is I get distortion on the ridge side when I start to stretch it. I don’t have Swedish dies. Would that be a solution or is a better stretcher the answer? Thanks for the help
@CoinRingsfromTheMint
@CoinRingsfromTheMint Год назад
That almost always happens. You can just ignore it and it usually goes away when you are reducing the size in a die.

I think I know the answer to my question but do you check if the coin could be worth more than its face value before you create your creations?
@CoinRingsfromTheMint
@CoinRingsfromTheMint Год назад
Yes. It won’t leave the coin shop without the dealer checking first. It’s pretty rare that they would give a coin out with a big premium without getting paid for it.

Are there other options for coins to use and then have the spinner? Could the spinner have stones in it?
@CoinRingsfromTheMint
@CoinRingsfromTheMint Год назад
Yes and definitely yes! I was going to have it be a diamond eternity band originally but I didn’t want to wait for the rest of the diamonds to come in for the video :) contact me through my website and we can make something cool! Www.changeyoucanwear.net
