Wow I’m blown away. You did an Incredible job. We almost have the same van so that’s cool. It’s so amazing how those tiny trim edges make a HUGE difference. Great job.
hey mate... I've probably watched each of your videos 4-5 times in the middle of my own build... hands down the best walkthroughs online. The tips, the contour gauge... right down to the irwin grips... I've loaded up on all the stuff and It's helped so much and really enjoying the process. well done on all the builds and nailing this channel as well. hope it takes off as it should... Oh also thanks for mentioning stuff like "40mm strips of 12mm ply" I literally make notes then go out and copy it. Incredibly cool. Cheers.
Salty hi again, I'm trying to find the video where you custom make roof rack for the commuter. I'm searching high n low for roof racks to fit 2002 commuter. Nothing! Getting bit frustrated about what to do. Cheers, Seaweed.
Hi, i never made a video on that but i do haver a photo montage on our instagram. Pretty much right at the bottom of our feed. Check that out. It should help

Here he is! I was wondering where you went! I always smile reading your comments. She's been a pretty good assistant to date mostly doing the jobs I don't particularly like doing (sanding and painting 😁) But if God forbit I have to let her go I know who to call then. pip pips and carryon pilgrims
The biggest problem with ALL conversions is WEIGHT. Wood is heavy and takes that weight off your capacity for you and the stuff you really need to have on board. The gross weight is fixed but the unladen weight catches it VERY quickly.
To much work trimming the back door frame. Fill the holes with spray foam and use upholstery fabric and glue it to the metal. Clean and beautiful look and saves on extra weight and labor.
Hey I was just wondering if I can get your opinion please??!! ... being an Aussie too and wanting to convert a Ford transit..high roof, lwb or jumbo(extended) What age Van would you say is a good one to buy? and what kilometres should I not exceed when purchasing? what are the things to look out for before and during the buying process..? Any tips or advice you can give me would be much appreciated 🙂🙂
I wouldn't by a transit older than 2013 (VM model). The VO models have fixed a lot of the problems that plagued their older brothers. Anything 2014 and up I would recommend. For second hand I would be looking at Kms no higher than 150km as a personal preference. I'm seeing a lot of vans on the market in the 250-300 mileage are crazy prices at the moment so be aware. Look out for service history and mainly and always get it looked over by a mechanic prior to purchasing. Luckily my dad is a mechanic so that was an easy step for me. good luck!
@@saltyvanventures Thank you so much! I appreciate your advice greatly. Off to see a van today, and it's a 2014 😃 149,000km ... how's that for chance! I will check all the things you mentioned and then get a mechanic to look over at any van that have ticked all the boxes.... Have an awesome day! Tracee I
@@traceechislett8463 That's awesome, I just a peak on car sales and see that one you are looking at. Good luck. Decent price. With the pandemic the price of vans have gone sky high, this seller may not know about the demand on the vans yet!
Came across your channel and love the content! I'm currently converting my promaster 2500, and hope to take away some tips and tricks. Keep up the great work!
You are an incredibly hard act to follow. I’ve looked at those edging timber’s at Bunnings and even have the same table saw, but I know I could never make them myself and still have any fingers left. Did you do an apprenticeship in cabinet making ? How did you learn all this stuff?
Hey mate, curious to know if the down lights you used are bright enough? I bought the same ones and plugged one in last night and i felt like it didn't produce much light and was curious to know how bright it gets when you add another 5 to it? Cheers mate!
Yes they are, if anything they may be too bright. When we want dim lighting we just open the cupboards and use the dim LED strip lights i installed on micro switches.
As someone who isn’t familiar with tools, really find these sorts of vids useful. Liked your approach for the corners. The ceiling /wall joins give me the most planning trouble.
These videos are super useful. How tall are you and how do you find your bed being east west? I am planing on a transit build, probably 2010 - 2013 model. I am 183 cm.
So glad they are helpful. I’m 6”3’. The bed orientation is great. I takes a little getting used to as you need to be aware you don’t have intimate leg space like you would in a bed but I fit will. Get even more room when I sleep slightly diagonal. I believe the VM model transits aren’t as wide though as the VO models so I would check the width on the earlier model
Thanks you, Yes we have just gone through the process of getting the engineering compliance certificate for the gas and electrical work as well as a couple of other minor things and transferring the rego to a motorhome. I'll be making a video about how we did it in NSW in the near future.
Mark, you never stop to amaze me with your diy attitude. You actually give the term diy it true meaning ay. Why pay for it if you can diy it. Champion! I give you first place in quality and being the best ideas Man. Regards, Mario.
Mark 😂 "Marcel" ! I'm all for making what I can myself. Learn something new, save a few quid, why not! Better yet you can make whatever size you want, that you might not be able to buy.
Really nice. After I stain use 3 or 4 coats of satin poly urethane, sanding between coats - final coat gets rubbed out with 000 steel wool. Leaves a rich, warm luster in most wood.
Ive been watching all your videos and am blown away by your craftsmanship. Ill be basing my ducato on your interior when it eventually gets delivered...thank you for putting these videos out, they are the best on youtube!!!
