MAKING VIDEOS IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE | ENGLISH VS SPANISH 

I know exactly what you mean about thinking differently in another language. It's almost like having a different personality. From that perspective alone, I can understand why you'd want to make a separate channel.

Deciding what language i was going to speak on my youtube channel was so difficult, because i want to speak english for the community and because i can reach out to more people, as you said, but speaking in norwegian feels more natural, haha :) Its really clever of you to create a spanish channel though, so you can do both :)

Hola! Gracias mil por haber hecho este video. Estoy en el proceso de crear un canal y precisamente teniendo un debate mental tratando de decidir si hacerlo en español, ingles, o ambos. Al igual q tu, todos los canales q veo son en ingles y cuando pienso en los videos q voy a preparar o cuando estoy practicando como haria una introduccion al video, es gracioso q todas las palabras e ideas me vienen a la mente en ingles. A pesar q el español es mi primera y más fluida lengua. Tambien estoy tan acostumbrada a escuchar todo en RU-vid en ingles q cuando trato de hablarlo en español (practicando, again jaja) me siento rara y como si no se escuchara tan bien como cuando es en ingles. Y estoy totalmente de acuerdo contigo, al hablar un idioma o el otro, es como si fueras dos personas totalmente diferente! I kind of understood the emotional, psychological part...which I can pretty much relate to. That's why I started my RU-vid Channel in English...but I'm still struggling with the same question: should I have a RU-vid Channel where I post videos in both languages (English and Spanish)? I'm concerned I'm losing audience/focus for doing that. I totally agree with you when you mentioned the thought process is different when speaking a certain language...I feel I'm nicer in English than in Spanish :D, not that I'm a bad person when speaking Spanish. Maybe it just has to do with knowing the subtleties of one language better (Spanish is my first language)...in any case, great video! Muy interesante!

If i publish in both languages (2 videos) and in the intro of each say something like "this video is also in English, here is the link" and vice versa. Will that affect the google algorithm making it think i don't have retention? thanks.

Really interesting to hear how your accent turned out as a mix of hearing a lot of youtube English, being from Spain, and living in the UK. Creating videos in English is something that's been on my mind since day one but never really went through with it and my current channel is only in Spanish.

Don’t have enough time for 2 channels so if I had to choose one language between English and Spanish what would you recommend because English does have a wider audience but there’s so many English RU-vid channels and so maybe it would be easier to become successful in Spanish since the market isn’t as big and competition is smaller but not sure what would you recommend

Thank you for your video Lucia. Im glad I found it and Im glad I finally found in your comments many people who are going exactly through the same struggle. I live in the United States and I actually decided to start doing videos in Spanish for many reasons but with time I wanted to do videos in English too because language is a big part of who I am and I live in a bilingual world. So I started doing a few but to be honest I want to start doing more English videos because its like a new challenge and I get bored very easily. I also struggled with the same question, should I start a new channel or should I just use the same? well I think Im going to just use the same channel, because in a way I see my channel like my little project, my little house so if I am bilingual, well this is a bilingual house then! I think talking in 2 languages is an accurate representation of who I am so hey here I am! Just like you mentioned Ive actually gotten comments from my Spanish speaking subscribers saying they watched the video in English entirely and they understood it. I take that as one of the nicest compliments I can get, I hope one day to get the same comments but from the other way around (an English speaker saying they watched the Spanish video) Im not sure how this is going to work for youtube analytics and recommended videos but hey I dont care, it'll work out! Thank you for this insightful content. As a native English / German / French speaker I've been struggling for a long time in which language I should launch my channel in. Your video just answered a few questions. Your 2-Channel approach may be the best way as to not alienate viewers. Language specific keywords and branding is another thing to consider for improved SEO. As much as English can connect you with a broader global audience, content in another language can really help you have greater niche. An example of this is your Spanish channel having more subscribers than your English one. After much reflection I may opt for your 2 Channel approach. Thanks for you insight. I am in the opposite situation to you, a British guy living in Spain 😅 I have really thought about doing content in Spanish as I feel like there is a market for it for the content I do, but have originally started with English as it’s my native tongue, easier to explain complex concepts and has greater reach. You may however have inspired me to launch a channel with Spanish content in the near future 😊 saludos!!

But, what's the issue with having all the videos bilingual, Spanish and English spoken I mean? That's the case with my cooking and all my other 3 channels. Soy chileno, I speak Spanish, but I live in Canada. I have people from both, but majority Spanish speakers. I would not cook the same meal to make videos in English, and then another one in Spanish lol... Do you think there's a problem with the bilingual option I use? I have CC or the transcript for everything I say in the video, in English and Spanish, so you can always have the option to just read it.

My channel is in English ... but I have followers on Instagram that are Spanish so I want to post the same videos but in Spanish for them. Should I create a different channel for it even though they will be the same videos just different language?

I'm in this place right now. Thank you for the advice. I stopped uploading videos & I'm back at it now but decided to change my channel's language. I can't do both that's too time consuming for me. I feel I've made the correct choice and then I look at my analytics and see that I have more views in my Spanish videos....the struggle. I'll have to watch a few more perspectives.

I'm building my youtube channel in Indonesian language about social experiments, but also interested to build channel in English speaking. I don't mind to wich one I should speak to, because both I'd applied caption/subtitle. Can I ask you about the monetize things? I do research from Indonesian Language and English there is a huge difference of monetization, like 1 : 8. Which is ofcourse more beneficial in English. If I made it in Bahasa but put all of the efforts (cc, tag, etc) in English, how is the calculations about the monetization?

Hello Lucia! I'm from Spain as you know, and I like to watch your videos in English because I want to keep listening and thinking in English. In fact, I think that more than a half of the videos I watch in youtube are in English. Also, I admire how good you speak English. I'd love to speak like you one day, that's why I think I have to go to work outside Spain for a period.

The main reason why I started to watch your videos was to practice English. My first language is Spanish too, and in my country I don't have the need to speak English and I don't want to forget it. You aren't the only people that makes videos in English that I follow, but I think I can understad you better, maybe because you have the Spanish accent too. At first I didn't understaund you very well but now I do! Greetings from Dominican Republic.

Another point: A large part of your english audience only understand english, and they will be annoyed every time you upload a video in spanish, and you may lose them.

Thanks. But i was hoping to get more details on if i should also create 2 channels or not. My current channel is a mix between German and English. While 80% of my Audiance comes from Germany. As i create more videos in English i get the feeling i confuse and also damage my channel, im thinking about 2 channels. One for each language. Like you. But my 3.000 Subs took me 3 years to build. So i'm really scared of uploading to a new channel. Also all my English videos i already did and put promotion in... what to do with them? Also i have to buy my music license for both channels, which is currently way more, than my channel earns... so i dont know what to do...

Hi. Thanks for this video. I have a queation. Im bilingual. But My channel has been for spanish speaking people since i started over 3 years ago and i managed to get up to 5400 subscribers. However, things changed in my life and I went through some rough things that forced me out of youtube and ive been on and off for 2 years now. My last video was over 9 months ago and didnt get views at all. Ive been meaning to make a definitive comeback but im considering changes. Like a name change and maybe content change. Thing is, in some ways it feels like a fresh start. But i dont wanna make a new channel. It took me a while to grow those subs. So.. My question is: Would it be smart to start making English content for my already established channel? Would it hinder me? Would it alienate my viewers? Or am i still on time to make those changes since my subs count isnt that great to begin with? Is it ok to change language permanately in spite of gaving a small audience already? Please advise.

thanks! I just started my RU-vid channel and wasn't sure which language to use, English or Spanish... I also tried both at the same time but something doesn't feel right and also was thinking... maybe the subscribers would prefer to receive notifications on videos in a language they understand... At think that at least in my case 2 separate channels would be better... Thanks for making this video 👍😊

I can think in two languages, no problem. The cultural differences are there, but that is something to embrace. I had a website from 2001-2016. Now I plan to make the Website 100% RU-vid, as the original website was essentially a 40,000 word web-book. I only plan to provide subtitles in the languages I am fluent in and then the others I am learning. I am always concerned about inaccurate translations, when translating, especially for a science education and health sciences channel.

I also run two channel. one in English and other is in urdu. Its very nice experience.

I know nothing about making videos, i am just staring at the beautiful girl.
