This is an introduction to Local UV Mapping of NURBS in KeyShot. You can utilize the flow of the NURBS for local UV Mapping, and we will be doing this using some welding textures in this video.
Please leave a comment if you have any questions or other feedback, and I'll be happy to answer.

Hi Magnus. Finally got to give this a proper look. That is one well planned and beautifully executed tutorial. Looking forward to see more like this!

if you are working with SolidWorks model then turn on the NURBS option in keyshot then you will get same results.

I would love to see advanced tutorial on wood material, maybe smth like the one you did on the viking boat;)

Great explanations Magnus. Pretty sure we discussed this elsewhere, but unfortunately, NX seems to be a bit of a standout in the way it offers control over NURBS patches. At least in my experience, I've not had luck with this in Solidworks or Fusion360. This is still a very helpful tutorial for those interested in this subject.

Thanks Will! Yes, I remember you trying to recreate the results using F360, but it lacked a bit of control of the NURBS. It's undeniably a great set of tools available for full control in NX. Too bad to hear it's not as applicable across platforms.

I'm also trying to create a continuous sweep on Solidworks, even if I have a composite Curve it still creates a tube with different sections, Anyone knows if there's a solution?
@Caracalaba
@Caracalaba 2 года назад
Oh I solved my problem! On the sweep options I changed the default -Follow path- for - Torque along the path- . That way it creates a single sweep without different sections

Thanks Magnus! Anyone have experience creating the needed geometry in fusion360? I've been playing with lofts and sweeps in the patch and sculpt environments but cant create a single face surface with even flow.

I had the same problem in SolidWorks. On the sweep options I changed the default -Follow path- for - Torque along the path- . That way it creates a single sweep without different sections. I don't know if there's a similar option on fusion360 though

Thanks Magnus! Do you know what tool/view I should be looking for in Fusion360? As far as I’m aware, Fusion doesn’t have a NURBS view.

Ben Jorgensen Hi Ben! Hmm..I'm not sure if it's possible to be honest. I have a friend who's using F360 and he hasn't found anything of the kind yet. He manages to utilize the technique, but it's a bit more tedious trial and error efforts involved since he cannot evaluate the NURBS flow directly in the CAD tool

Awesome tutorial and thank you very much for providing the necessary resources for free. But unfortunately for me, impossible to find a tutorial to link several fillets together to make only one (in "NURBS mode") in solidwork
@Miror
@Miror 5 лет назад
Hi, thanks for the valuable feedback and the kind compliment. It's a shame to hear it can't be done properly using SolidWorks though. I imagine it would be a tedious process of subtracting the fillet areas using boolean operations and then loft the remaining shapes together (easier said than done probably). A shame I don't have the software nor the foundation to do some research on it.

Cool trick. I did manual painting of textures using a custom brush. I did it all in Blender with a different render engine. Perhaps ill try this method in a different manner. I also use a trick using some small displace mesh with displacement mod. But it doesnt look like its really connected www.dropbox.com/s/d4ktu34hgznnes5/Exhaust_Scratchy%20metal-Welds2_POST.jpg?raw=1
