The tail end of the hurricane reached southern Ontario this morning, barely any wind, and the power went out. Mostly rain, that's about it. That all thread idea seems pretty good.
I wondered how you were doing-I was monitoring family situations in Houston even though I’m in New Hampshire this week. I saw the eye was going right over you. Something like 2.6M electric customers in Harris County lost power. Glad the branch didn’t fall on the motorhome. Stay safe!
My power coop has 40,000 meters mostly in Grimes County and Montgomery County.... 30,000 of them went out and 14 hours later they have restored about 5000... I am thankful for all the people working late into the night in this mess...
Way to keep going in a little wind! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been in a few hurricanes living in south Florida. No power was always the worst, no AC. Finding gas gets tough when the power is out. Especially when it’s out for days. Glad the tree kinda just missed your motor home. Just a little kiss by the looks of it…
Yep just a kiss I think,,,, I hate it after hurricanes with no AC... Back when Rita Hit My Paramedic Station lost power and I had to work 5 days straight... Ended up sleeping on the floor of a near by Fire Station.... Oh what fun!
So far my Generac 18kw has started up nicely on each power failure i have had over the past year in north Texas. I'm getting too old to drag my old roll around 5500w beast. Now i just count to twelve and power is back.😊
I have a 28kw Generac I purchased 2 years ago that starts up every Saturday morning at 10:00 and runs for 7 min automatically to charge the battery and do a systems check. I can see the results on my phone app. Power went out a couple of weeks ago for 10 hours...the Generac started automatically, ran for 10 hours and shut down when power was restored. Couldn't be happier.
In the wastewater treatment plant where I used to work we had 5 different generators with automatic transfer switches. We used the services of commercial rated electriciand for our generators and general power for pumps and machines, most of our power was 480 3 phase. Try an industrial electrician, they may do private generator work
Thanks for the idea..... I'm pretty sure its the main board on the generator now... Just hate to spend 1600 on a guess and would like to just have someone with the software check it out,,,
We live in a very remote area. There is no grid, we are just at the end of the line. So on ocasion our power goes out, sometimes for 12 hrs, or more. We have a generator I conect to the electric pannel. I have to turn off the main breaker. The problem is, how do I know when the power comes back on. A friend of mine and I came up with the idea. We conected a light above the main breaker, so when the power comes on the light comes on. Thanks for the viedos.

Hope you can find a decent generator technician. Kohlers usually work better than that. Must be something failed in the automatic transfer switch or wired incorrectly between the ATS and the generator auto start input although that generator did have to crank a long time before it finally started.
From what I can see it has to be in the main control board on the generator... That is a totally new transfer switch and it behaves just like the old one. Problem is that main board is 1600.00 and I am not sure it is totally the problem.... Plus the fact that a new board might have to be programmed leave me in a pickle... I have looked for a tech and no one wants to repair things, just put in new ones...
@@10swatkins - Can you find an installation/programming manual for the generator or main control board and the ATS? Manufacturers have gotten really bad about not wanting to give those things to owners which does make do-it-yourself maintenance nearly impossible.
@@jtwhite2084 The equipment came with all the manuals.... There is little help there.... The ATS is new and doing the same thing as the old one so the problem is not with it.... It even senses when the utility come back on and shuts the generator down and moves the ATS back to utility power... Something inside the main switch panel is not starting the generator and thus the ATS is not transferring after the generator power gets started and stable... That panel is potted and non repairable... Only way to check it out is to replace it, at about 1600.00 I now have 2 generators that are doing the same thing :(
@@diegojines-us9pc Oh it works, just ran non stop for the 5 days we were without Utility Power... Just will not start automatically when the power goes out... I have to push a button to start it :)
