You can also spend a few dollars on a small wire brush piece of sand paper metal scrubby cheap cleaning chemicals you don't need a 100 dollar or more electric drill that just makes it easier you don't need those expensive wire brushes on the drill either it just makes it easier and all mechanics have them it's just completely necessary
@@haydenrasband1601 buy a plastic storage tote, they’re like 5$ and are big enough Edit : link if anyone didn’t know what I meant www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-50-Gal-189-L-Tote-Box-Titanium/418955910
Red metalcast is my go-to for turning amber sections of stock taillights to red for a cleaner look. Throw some clear over it for protection and it'll still have an amber glow when illuminated.
@@GARAGEIdiotS hey man i know u probably get this a lot, but if I sent u a valve cover, ANY way you'd wanna do this for me? I'd pay u whatever it would cost. I don't have a good painting or hydro dipping setup at my house and want something as beautiful as this....
Another great video. I really enjoy your dipping videos. Very informative, and the results always look amazing. Thank you. And thanks for the project updates.
The level of satisfaction i get just from watching this process is difficult to express lol. And the final look of that rocker cover is just absolutely sexy as hell 😍💯🔥 only recently did my saab valve cover in wrinkle black, but next time that cover comes off, it's getting stripped and dipped just like this! Absolutely stunning job mate!
this is my business. I searched for this graphic for years. If someone wants the carbon done on their parts I’ll gladly do it for them but can’t give away trade secrets lol most people cant just buy the graphic and hydrodip themselves anyways
Hey Preston if that chemical you using to wipe out the valve cover is acetone or lacquer thinner lacquer thinner without gloves what cause liver damage with 20 seconds of exposure to the skin and I think acetones 10 seconds read the warnings please
Outstanding (if only I had talent & a steady hand) thar cover on my mates S2000 I detailed a few years back would have been the icing & the cherry on top, beautiful Sir !!
I hate when people don’t reveal where they get their products. The only person you’re hurting is the company that makes it. That’s being really selfish. Dislike
totally agree with this, but perhaps he runs a business and doesn't want to reveal "company secrets" or perhaps the supplier has a non disclosure agreement of some kind
Correct this is my business. I searched for this graphic for years. If someone wants the carbon done on their parts I’ll gladly do it for them but can’t give away trade secrets lol most people can just buy the graphic and hydrodip anyways
Great video and the cover is simply amazing. Just 1 question why do you chose not to share the vendor for the carbon wrap? If it's the best 1 you've ever used wouldn't you want to help sell the product?
Wait so for 3:10 when you say you don’t have to wet sand for 7 days do you mean we have to wait 7 days then wet sand and then paint? Or do we do the epoxy primer then the paint then the hydro drip? I’m a little lost here please help!
I'm just happy you're learning to use NYLON wire wheels Preston and not the brass ones you used to use. 😉 It's always a better result. 👍 Edit: Also, metalcast FTW. Just don't try Orange like I did. 😂👍
Preston, you're doing Very well by us.I know you don't have tons of cash to throw at any little problem, like some expect because they see it elsewhere. This video is a great example. Most of us don't have $200 to throw at Clear Coating, and you showed us things we could get and use,and told us why.Thank you.Keep up the fun and do what You can.
Those “unfinished” projects is great! Iv watched before, but now I’m subscribed. I want to see those unfinished projects. Keep up the good work & running a good show.
If you don’t mind my concern it is okay just wondering here may be you can help me. I use VHT product but when I use clear coat there horrible reaction on paint which is brake calliper. Now do you have any idea which clear coat matches to VHT spray cans that don’t react horrible..and what epoxy primer did you use on plastic? If there’s available on spray cans.. thank you in advance
I did my plastic rocker cover in the summer, I used high temp brake caliper spray paint for my colour and then 2k spray can lacquer and it's rock hard, which is good. But I didn't realize when I was doing all this that some dirt, little hairs and fibers are in there. I was thinking IL sand those areas back which prob. Means I will have to do the colour again and clear again. The 2k clear costs so much I wondered if normal clear lacquer will be ok? Or will I have to do the colour and 2k clear all again?
If I painted a valve cover gloss white and then used the red tint paint like you have in the video, do you think it'll make the valve cover look pink???
Guys you should change the name from GARAGE IDIOT's to GARAGE GENIUSEs, can I get all the paints n products used online? I live in India and was wondering if I can do the same and wondering from which portal I can order them, I'll really appreciate if you can reply 🙏👍
That looks so good. But I’m just not into carbon dips or wraps. Yea they look good but it’s, idk how to explain it. I just don’t like fake carbon. Not trying to hate or anything it’s just my preference. I love how the carbon looks. But I don’t want my bike or vehicle all decked out in carbon that isn’t actually carbon. Just a preference thing. Again it looks fantastic. But I just don’t like things looking like something they aren’t. For me personally.
First, you showed us how to apply it, and then you hilariously say you're not going to tell us where to buy it. They already sold it to you and others, so at this point, the secrecy of where to buy the carbon fiber seems kinda asinine if its already on the market? 🤣 Telling us would only increase their sales. Who wouldn't want that? Why are you so afraid that other people might buy it? It's funny. You make it sound like it's the secret formula to the radar absorbing coating on the Stealth Bomber and it can only be purchased illegally on the black market to MS-13 members 🤣.
You could've used aircraft coating remover (sold at almost any auto part store) instead of all that wire wheel work to remove ALL old paint and residue. You just spray it on and let it sit, then wash it off with a water hose.. it works great!!! then, hit with a light sand blasting for a paint grip and you're done.. just an FYI. what you've done looks amazing!!!! Check out the spray here ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7K06Q0ZOOAk.html )
Im switch the seals this weekend nd the bottom oil pan before im take off the bumper take it to a car wash lift it up nd degrese it before i switch to see of it leaks again nd the valve cover is gonna be out already so might ad well make it look nice some people charge 100$ for this
Turned out amazing, completely baffled how. That “shop” is an absolute disaster to say the least and purely embarrassing to call that a business. How guys work like that or enjoying working like that never made sense to me. Spending hours looking for stuff, and still getting average finishes.
Awesome looking valve cover job! Have you ever tried to hand polish the metalcast paint to get it perfectly smooth/glossy? Im doing a pistol and it looks awesome except one area where its noticeable not as smooth as the rest. I have it on thick enough to be pretty much opaque...was thinking about gently hitting it with some 5000grit, then hand polish to see if I could get it perfectly smooth. Btw- no clear coat, the metalcast is the topcoat.
Great video .... However, I cannot stress this enough to you or any person using these tool, ALWAYS "Safely First". Wear safety glasses or goggles or face shield or all of them. You only have 2 eyes and they are not replaceable items.
I get this clear coat called Wanda which is sold at Auto Parts Outlet, it's $90 a gallon and the shine is amazing and lays easy and no weird reactions or lifting or anything, the product is amazing, iv used PPG diamond and similar quality products and this Wanda clear is up there with big guys for a fraction of the price
That is Gorgeous! That is the color I'm looking to do to my engine cover and other underhood parts. Only thing is, it is black plastic. Would you recommend using a white or silver base coat?
Great job. Video quality and voice over worked really well. Really hope you plan to show the Mini Cooper and all the work to get it running in a full vid too.
How much heat can that hydrographic Stan, and can you give the name of the supplier for your carbon paper since you give all the other information?….thank you
Bro i thought this is gonna be stupid video sorry dude but i judge you too quickly because of your name sorry It kinda bothering me but your video is good and your skill 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Try nexara 2:1 clear allot of auto paint supply stock it I pay 130 for 2 gal set up I don’t like there 4:1 It would be ok for small parts But a great product
Awesome tutorial just one step I'm confused with 300° is not enough to even burn cooking oil let alone motor oil off of metal when you season a cast iron pan it has to be at 500 or above and it still doesn't burn the oil off
