Torque test channel really needs to get their hands on this

Makitas latest UAE catalog has a new 1500wh backpack battery PDC1500

It'd be interesting to see the effect each battery has on torque. I personally don't run my saw on my 2.5ah batteries, because I suspect they will result in less torque and quicker overheating. Even the 4Ah will cook when ripping rimu on a hot day.
@Fekillix
@Fekillix 11 месяцев назад
The 2,5Ah is basically just a rewired 5Ah 18V battery. Definitively less torque.
@riba2233
@riba2233 11 месяцев назад
@@Fekillixit isn't, it uses slightly better cells (25 vs 20a cont). But yeah still weaker than 4ah cells at 30a cont.

that feels like something more suited to torque test channel. they have shown on how other brands battiers came slow down the tool and limit the "torque" of the motor
@nakedapprentice
@nakedapprentice 11 месяцев назад
@@ProtosR I was meaning more practical testing like ripping rather than the actual torque figures.

It'd be great if you could test the PDC01 with the 40V adapter too; I would assume the PDC01 would perform near the bottom of the 40V batteries.
@EliotTruelove
@EliotTruelove 11 месяцев назад
I have the PDC01 and wonder if it has any effect on 18v tools as well, or if it's in reality just a runtime extender.
@MattTester
@MattTester 11 месяцев назад
@@EliotTruelove Unlikely for single battery tools as it only uses one battery at a time, if anything there would be a slight voltage drop due to the extra cable and circuitry between the battery and tool.
@MattTester
@MattTester 11 месяцев назад
I think he borrowed that one, I recently picked up the PDC01 with the 40V adapter but don't yet have any 40V tools or batteries to compare against. Realistically just comparing the voltage of a fully charged XGT battery against the combined voltage of two fully charged equivalent LXT batteries should give you the answer for no-load RPM, I would expect it to be lower though. Might be different under load as there are more cells to share the load with the PDC01.

Probably go even faster with that even bigger battery coming out.

Yeah whatever cells they use on that pack there is so many of them that it's certainly the most powerful option :)

Wonder how much runtime you would get with the backpack battery with the makita esky

If only they release what Hikoki made to run the tool of mains power. I've been wishing that for more then 10 years now.

@riba2233
@riba2233 11 месяцев назад
@@riga37hikoki one is 1050w cont, 2000 peak. So you would need 1000w 36v psu. Easiest way to get that would be via buying three cheap 12v 800w server psus and connecting them in series. Regarding the electronics, you would just get an empty casing from ali that already has the electronics for tool communication.

What is the point of using the backpack unit when it is then corded?
@josephsaucedo8691
@josephsaucedo8691 11 месяцев назад
I don't really care for the back pack because the old one was way better you could use your own battery you already have and if you have a bad battery you could replace it. The new back pack seems like a throw away if one cell goes bad there goes the hole back pack that expensive not worth the price tag in my opinion.💯✌️🍻🛠️

I might understand it wrong, but when ur pointing the beam at the blade if its not the same distance from the center it will read different. 🤔😕
@BuildsStuff
@BuildsStuff 11 месяцев назад
Yes you have got it wrong. RPM will be the same no matter where it is measured from centre to edge. Every part of the blade does 1 revolution in the same time, but the outer edge is moving faster than the centre. There is a video about it somewhere on my main channel.
