As My previous Chopsaw Video (Makita 10 Inch Mitre Saw Review LS1019) nears 100k views, I found it fitting to look at alternative chopsaw models.
I have started work on a site which has no source of power, so cordless tools reign king on these types of jobsites.
Having the best cordless tools to help you on your tasks that can not only perform well but also help you earn money by keeping you in the workflow as much as possible is growing to be the way forward for all tradesmen who seek professional performance in their work space. Here I show my latest purchase, the DLS714 Cordless chop/mitre saw by Makita.
Any questions or comments are welcome below.

Nice review, just FYI around 6 mins you say you have 2 18v batteries at 4ah each which makes 36v (correct) and 8ah altogether (not so right). Unfortunately when you double the voltage to 36v you half the amp hrs. So 2 separate 18v batteries at 4 amp hrs each together is 8amp hr at 18v. But added together at 36v the still only put out 4ah as the amps is halved. The fact Makita uses 2 18v batteries makes it a bit confusing but it's the same for every brand. If you imagine them as one 8 amp hr 18v battery. When that battery puts out double the volts it lasts half the time e.g 4 amp hr A hikoki multivolt battery for example is a single unit and is advertise as a 4/8 amp hr battery at 36v and 18v respectively. DeWalt flexvolt are 18v and 54v depending on the tool used in. So for arguement sake a 9amp hr DeWalt flexvolt is only 9amp hr at 18v when used as 54v it's actually only 3amp hr. 3 times the voltage equals a third the amp hr. Long winded but couldn't find any way of explaining it any shorter. Keep up the vids

52 mm isn't enough to mitre handrails. If you don't mind finishing the cuts off with a hand saw it is a deal breaker.

Terrific review - thank you ! Any ideas about adding a laser or shadow line light ? I think I’m going to get one, as I’ve got a lot of lxt kit, and my old corded dewalt 701 chop saw is desperate for me to retire her. Lol It seems a shame as a new smart piece of kit they didn’t stick on a laser or shadow light, which whilst not essential i know, is a nice to have. Looking at it - it doesn’t look easy to modify it to add one - anybody got any thoughts ?

I have the big makita saw, like your corded one, but mine is the 36v, but it's far too heavy for me now, but ill look into getting the baby version like yours, as you say its great for skirts and architraves and 1st fixing aswell. Thanks for the review.

Had this saw for 2 years. Just ordered the 40v on pre order it has a slightly bigger blade, shadow line and slide in arms!! Everything this saw should’ve had!! Absolutely banging saws though! I had to get a dewalt flexvolt extractor though as makita only do L class 😡😡

Nice little saw, I've got one, an improvement would be if the bevel cut went to 48 degrees. This would help with Acute angles

So Phil, has this become your primary miter saw while your LS109L gathers dust in the shop at this point? There seems to be a ton of guys who basically end up using these smaller saws for 95% of their work and virtually never hall out the bigger (HEAVY) saw...what about you? For "homeowners" would you recommend the little 7 1/4 or its big brothers (the 10/12" saws)?
@handytbutler7380
@handytbutler7380 3 года назад
i think if you are leaving it in place at home the bigger more powerful would be the way to go but for jobsites and hauling it around the smaller saw is the way to go....thats what im doing anyway.

Id like to see how this saw would go with two 6 Amp hour batts for framing. I'm running an old Makita LS 1040 (old school) that serves me well, but looking at cordless. Just not sure if this beast is up to cutting studs and noggins for framing as well as doing 2nd fix for architraves and skirting. Realky didn't want to go to a 10 1/4 inch cordless as it's heavier than my old LS1040 Thoughts on this saw for both anyone?
@Matasky2010

I wouldn't recommend using the same saw for framing and finish..
@majl1000
@majl1000 3 года назад
I just use skill saw for framing, easier than setting chop saw up, I use 5ah batts in chop saw, got couple 6ah but really can't tell the difference except 6ah take bit longer to charge
