And if it ends with a J, it means it comes in a Makpac with the correct insert. Took me a while to piece it all together. Where was this video a few years ago! :D As always another great video. :)

thanks for this, another really helpful video. sometime i don't feel like i am sounding grateful enough, but theres also a ton of useful stuff in your back catalog. some of which i have never seen before but keeps on turning up. got my 1st ever makita tool last week... it was the lxt xph11. and really impressed for what it is. for delicate work and the clutch for low torque applications. very well suited for that purpose. next would really want the 40v makita drill, or maybe a hydraulic impact.... except the hydailic impact is not so simple buy since makita (the one i actually want) is just simply too expensive at 300 gbp, and then milwaukee did not update their fuel surge this year. so it did not get the collet upgrade and is still same model. yet i can buy the amazing makita 40v drill for 200 gbp here. or alternatively the dust blower for 122 gbp. which is also a great tool. anyhow thanks also for your past videos it really has helped to inform my buying choices. at this point i dont think i can avoid getting onto both the lxt and xgt platforms. and maybe the milwaukee either (depending on that fuel surge). however still am trying to avoid dewalt and flex, and metabo or hikoki. just simply to limit the total number of battery platforms / different types of batteries. hopefully most of my future needs can remain within 2-3 platforms. but for now its just the basics of drill, impact, and then trying to keep the tool count as low as possible. since we dont get the amazing deals of usa over here tools cost money. and not an insignificant amount of money, it quickly adds up. at this rate it will probably be another 1-2 years until can afford my next tool. very slow going. but in the meantime am still really enjoying your videos! ...suppose you can call it window shopping or something i guess

Nice explanation. I already knew what the Z meant but not the other things. I wish someone would now interpret the Hikoki model numbers. In their product range they have everything Makita have except lawn mowers.

2:16 I wonder why the charger should be one time directly behind the numbers (R) and then elsewhere at the back (B) - just an idea: S = slow charger Y = 1,5 battery B = black (can't see if the tool is black)

I have that multi tool. In the states it’s XMT and black, categorized in the subcompact tools. They also don’t sell the dust extraction adaptor for it in the States so I had to order it from the UK. So bizarre

I was interested in the dust extraction adaptor for this great tool myself. Looked around and found it in the same place you probably bought yours...for an enormous price in remember. So, forget it. Curious how well it works, though...

I got a drill / impact driver kit today from Sydney Tools, the model is DLX2455T. There is a sticker on the case which just says “R8 built 27/06/2022” - it’s stuck over the top of another sticker which looks like it says “R8 built 25/10/2021”. Just wondering if I have ended up with a refurbished kit here?

It won't be refurbished as the 172 impact driver in that kit has only just been released. I'd say it was relabeled after release delays.
