I never fell in love with the. Buzzz the way I wanted to. I finally found the mind bender and love it. If you like the feel of the buzzz though try a buzzz ss
Don't write it off yet, I know I bought a Buzzz soon after starting and it just didn't work how I wanted. It's not a disc to "learn" with imo. Went back 1.5-2 years later and realized it was just me, not the disc. Now I own at least 10 of them 😁
@@FormerAmericanIdol I do write it off for me. I wanted to like it BUT I just couldn't release it comfortably, it being so darn shallow. I did like the flight tho WHEN I got a good release off
For me, Axiom Hex is the top tier straight flying midrange. I’ve had Mako3, Buzzz, and Texas Ranger all in my bag at various points. All three of them had various things I didn’t like that the Hex corrected (for me at least).
All 3 of my aces have been Mako3s. Needless to say, I'm now bagging Mako3s forever. It's straight, and very "neutral" in that, depending on your angle, arm speed, and snap, it holds whatever line you throw it on.
It is always funny when noobs want the "farthest flying midrange". The whole point of midrange is that it doesn't fly as far. Just find what feels good in hand and has stability for your arm speed. Thinking there is 1 disc to rule them all is stupid tribalism. I bag Thought Space Pathfinder, it is like a more confortable in the hand Buzzz.
Love this! The mako3 is hard to learn and takes a little time to get used to. I love the mako3 cuz it goes straight and almost no fade. My dad got a mako3 aswell but he cant use it cuz he hasnt trained enough with it. Hope to see you progress with it
I love the buzzz. It’s great for those straight tunnels and very versatile. I also like to use it forehand. I have one in big z plastic and it’s almost a flat top.
I have champion mako3 and Z buzzz. The champion mako3 is just so awkward and the hand and sharp on the bottom. Hard to get release right, almost too straight flying? Buzz is cool but I prefer more glide, so my champion roc3 is my baby. I also am a true believer in the wombat3, similar to a mako3 with more glide and a much more comfortable grip. Wombat3 so underrated.
I have an esp buzzz and a star mako3 in my bag. I throw the buzzz more as it feels more reliable in the wind with its over stability and almost never flips. The mako3 is better for gliding super straight down tunnels etc and doesn't really fade left or right just stays on its line. Also great for anhyzers. I find them to be completely different discs really, both with their uses, and I have a comet which is like a mix of the two and is my favourite for approaches and long throw in putts.
I feel like The buzz SS would be a more fair comparison to a mako 3 not just because of its flight numbers but because of its edge design the rims are very similar between a bus SS and a mako 3 where is a standard buzz is a little bit more stable then people give it credit for also the thing that I like about the buzz is the buzz comes in three flavors you have the buzz OS you have the buzz and of course you have the buzz SS based off that variety there's not such a thing as a mako 3 over stable or I may go three under stable so it makes a lot easier to simplify your bag in terms of what mid-range is you want but of course everybody's different but that's my two cents worth taking or leave it LOL
Been loving the content, do you edit your own videos. You have inspired me to try and start making disc golf videos once I can get the equipment needed.
I found a Mako3 today! What a great disc!!! It flies so straight. Hopefully I can find the owner but I'll keep using it for now. Definitely picking one up for myself.
Was watching this and thought to myself, that hole looks like one I just played up in Illinois. Low and behold, same course. Did you realize it was a Steady Eddy original while you were playing it?
if i dont late release my Champion 177 gram Mako 3 and i give it plenty of spin from wrist and dont throw it too hard then it flies DEAD straight with ZERO fade to about 275 feet on flat ground 300 on down hill and you can rip it HARD up hill flat release and will want to turn but not burn and carry up the hill BUT BUT BUT i will say you can only use this disc in low wind conditions when wind picks up i move to my WASP and if wind gets heavier then then 10mph like 15mph + i go to my Badger bcuz the headwind makes over stable disc fly stable like Mako3 if thrown on correct angle
I have 5 buzzz discs right now. The 2023 Halloween Z Glo was the first and I fell in love with it. Bought a Titanium, Z, Big Z and an Elite Z 20th Anniversary (each in various weights). They are all pretty similar with slight differences, but nothing beats that Z Glo which is always in my bag along with another Buzzz (depending on the course and/or weather conditions), a Champion Mako 3, a DX ROC (old DX plastic) and an Alien (which I’ve come to love when using it more as a long approach/putter disc rather than a mid range). I want to give the Hex a shot. I love the feel of my 2 Insanity discs (1 proton and 1 Neutron) and want to try another Axiom disc. That’ll be next spring. I bought too many discs this year (still have 4 more in transit) and promised myself I’d not get anymore except for this year’s Halloween Buzzz……
That was my take on it too, the mako3 is my preference haven't found anything as straight or shapeable. Mine is in star plastic and frankly I think champ might have been the right call, star is beating in a little and now it's maybe a -.3 turn not quite -.5 but it will never fight out of a turn now. And I seem to forget that too often. But it is 'point and shoot' so to speak
I love my Mako 3. Laser straight and has lots of glide. I don't have much arm speed as a new player in my 50's but I can fly it about 225 on a flat shot with it never getting above head high.
Hey Glenn, are you a former baseball player? If you are, consider trying forehand. I started at 53, I'm 57 now. I started soon after right knee surgery so I couldn't really plant for a backhand. So the guy who was teaching me asked if I played baseball. I pitched into college so yes. I can throw a forehand 375' fairly easily and I can crank it up to 400'+. I do throwback decent backhand now, about 325', but I'm way more consistent with the forehand. Good Luck!!!
I'm a beginner and started with the champion Mako3 and Roc3 (F2 discs) for a while before getting an ESP Buzz in my first tournament. For me, the virgin Buzz flies very similar to the Roc3 (meaning a similar fade on my basic backhand). The Mako3 finishes straighter for me currently.
Vibram IBEX (I know ... they are impossible to find) is a better Buzz! Must stubborn left to right shape possible in any disc I've thown! I need to see if Lone Star wants to revive it in their own plastic.
Never liked the Mako 3 because it couldn't handle torque like a brand new Buzz could. Honestly one of my favorite straight discs was my King Cobra miss that disc.
I like the buzzz but I’ve taken most the 5 speeds out of my bag for forehands and stick with 4 speeds. I keep two mids for backhands, I have the meteor and a malta.
Throws it once, let’s go play a full round and putt with them, this will help you in no possible way ever! Throw the discs for a couple months and come back to us. Peer reviewed science is done different than the 10min I just lost watching this video!
Bruuuuh you totally need to replace your fuse and truth with the mako and buzzz I bag them both and you will jot regret it. I guarantee you’ll get a few strokes off your game
Recently found your channel. You’re posting content about literally everything my husband and I are into at the moment…disc golf, van life, and reselling! So awesome. I really enjoy the content and hope to see you go all the way and even win worlds one day! 👏🏼
For the longest time I was always wondering what the buzz was about in regards to the buzzz. Been throwing the buzzz ss for a while (incredibly straight disc I recommend you try) and finally got a buzzz. Didn’t disappoint for a laser straight disc into the wind. Awesome throw-in anny with the mako3! I have a mako3 as well but don’t bag it often due to always playing in a lot of wind. Keep the great content coming!
For a beginner, I'd say Mako3. It is almost like throwing a putter; it will show if you throw badly. AND if you have good technique, it glides forever. Put more pop on hyzer and it will flip up. Also nice for smooth anhyzers, not much power needed and it will hold the angle the whole flight. For a casual round I only bring the Mako3 (Star 175g), even OK to use for putting. Buzzz is much more stable I'd say and for a beginner it is like a fairway or even driver, tons of glide even here. For me, the Buzzz goes almost as far as a distance driver, that's how good it is! And it is much easier to throw than a distance driver. However, my favourite mid is a Roc3 in Star 175g, only due to how much easier it is for my hand to find a comfortable grip/how the disc feels in the hand.
Fuse is way under stable compared to these two. Buzz is more stable than the Mako3. Star Mako3 goes super straight for me, Buzz has a lot more fade but I like the way it feels in my hand better. Buzz is definitely my choice for forehands.
I have a Buzzz, Buzzz SS, and Mako3. The Buzzz SS is more comparable to the Mako3 than the Buzzz and both and very straight flying when not overpowered and more understable than the standard Buzzz. I use the Mako3 for most mid range straight line throws.
I’ve just been playing seriously maybe a month with the innova starter pack (using a DX leopard driver and DX Colt putter but not using the mid). Just today my new discs arrived and I played my normal 9-hole course and shot my best round ever (6 birdies, 2 pars, 1 bogie) using just the Mako3 the entire time. It’s now my favorite disc! 😂 ⛳️
As a guy who has thrown esp buzzz and champ mako3, I can say that Buzzz is more OS but ESP plastic gets beat in fast. Power wise, the more you add the easier it is to flip the mako3 from hyzer to anny. Mako3 does late turnover for me as well so it doesn't finish left at all for me. Buzzz, well, out of the box holds it's line but once it gets few hard tree kicks in, shits gonna be stable. Add too much power to it and it's gonna flip from small hyzer to flat or from straight to anny. Either way both are good discs to use so use whatever you like.
A Star Cobra has the rim of the Buzz with an slight understable flight of the Mako3. I love the Mako3 but I hate the rim lol. I throw Mako on anything from 225'(touch shot) to 300'. It just does what you think it's going to do time after time.
Noyce! Old time stomping grounds for me there. Played west, shorewood, and channahon all the way back in early 80s! Spent days at shorewood as a kid. SOOOO much more busy now a days. Wow.
Great comparison. I bag both Champ Mako3 and Buzzed (z plastic) and they fly the exactly the same for me. For me, they are different slots, true straight and buzz with a finish. The Mako3 also feels weird in the hand but i got used to it and trust it now.
Not sure why Buzzz is considered a straight midrange - especially not out of the box in premium plastics. Meteor and Impact (this disc needs more attention!) are better for this as far as Discraft molds.
Bought a Z Buzzz and just could not stand it. My son's Buzzz SS is awesome though. I use a Fission Hex and Neutron Reactor. I would like to try a Mind Bender as well one day.
New to the sport and loving how much I'm learning from you. Would you consider doing a deep dive on one of your shot commentaries, like, during your edit, give us the director's commentary and point out on the screen what you mean about flippy/turning/flexing. Trying to understand what are synonyms and what are variations in flight control that you pros know inherently!
I wanted to like the Buzzz the best and even more so because you could also get the OS and SS versions.....but what I realized is that I was bagging 3 discs for what the Mako could do by itself.
For me the m4 and m3 is the best flying midranges and if i want some More overstabel MD the MX-3 is perfect:) i started throwing prodigy like 1 month ago and i fell i love With them
The Buzzz is the best disc I have ever thrown period. Easiest to throw, best plastics available, and I made more money from that disc alone than any other disc on my cart.
I don't own a buzz so can't compare but my Mako3 is and always has been my "if I could only play with one disc" disc. In fact I own it in all the plastics, lots of colors. Star is my favorite but champion is also really really nice.
Mako3 is my favorite mid for slight left to right shots or hyzer flip tunnel shots in the woods. My favorite all around straight mid is my EMac Truth though.
Recently found this channel, Dude! you have a great stream of consciousness that makes it entertaining to hear opinions/hold the attention of goldfish like me ;) gj!
Great video mate. I bag a Mako3 in both Star and Halo plastic. I also have a Fuse for those BH turns. I also bag a dyed Roc3 with some KC Rocs. I was thinking about getting a Buzzz also to fill that position between my Roc3 and Mako3. But then I suddenly realized I had a GT Buzz First run in a box. Went for it and yeah, its something to try with. I feel like I should use my Mids more. I usually just pull out my Pig or a Fairway Driver. Keep up the good work!
I think the mako3 is actually best in champ plastic and it does have alot of glide. My buzz has a good bit of turn on it compared to my mako3 but ultimately I took out the mako because I have a lat64 compass that I like better.
Buzzz is nice because you can cycle them from slightly overstable down to flippy. Z Buzzzes tend to be even more overstable than ESPs. Eventually you can get a Buzzz to be a Mako3, but you can never eventually make a Mako3 a Buzzz (granted, I haven't tried Halo Mako3s).
Well said 👏 the Buzzz is a disc you will love for life when you learn to appreciate it. I've certainly never heard someone say "I bag 2-3 different mako3's" 😁
@@FormerAmericanIdol Now you have. I bag a Halo Mako3 max weight for anything where I need pinpoint accuracy for straight or turnover shots. My go-to approach disc is a very seasoned R-Pro Mako 3 that's only 165. Huge turnover shots that never fade and land flat. Short placement shots where you need to put it right THERE. It's especially good for low-ceiling shots where you need a ton of carry. The lighter weight helps it push farther than a max-weight one. I carry an OG San Marino Roc for hyzer-flip shots, especially flat to turn. My approach game is as good as it gets. I'd cry if you told me I couldn't carry my Makos, especially in the woods.
