SINGAPORE - Today I’m going with my friend Ray and ‪@ZermattNeo‬ to go eat Malay and Indonesian food at Hjh Maimunah Restaurant - one of the biggest and most famous Malay restaurants in Singapore. Zermatt happens to be a competitive eater and the biggest eater in all of Singapore, so we decided to order one of everything - and that happened to be 51 dishes.
You arrive at Hjh Maimunah Restaurant and you’ll immediately see a line outside waiting to order and waiting to get in. It works cafeteria style where you get in line, see what you like at the front, grab and pay for your food, and then find a seat. I got in line and when I reached the front, I ordered one of everything - which again was 51 dishes. It was a little confusing and tricky to get all the dishes, but eventually we had everything on the table and were ready to eat.
The food was delicious, I love Malay food and Indonesian food. I especially enjoyed the rendang, the snails which were boiled in coconut milk and herbs, and all the different vegetable dishes.
Hjh Maimunah Restaurant (goo.gl/maps/xumG3LNs6nKFT5rL8)
Total price for everything - S$147.60

Thank you for featuring Malay cuisine; a rarity really as most authentic Malay food are usually cooked at home. Singapore Malay food has nuances not only from Indonesian (especially padang and javanese) but also Malaysian, Filipino, Indian, Thai and Chinese cuisines due to the migration of people around the region. It is not unique but rather an almagamation or a marrying of ingredients and cultures. I love this place and so does my old parents, so thank you for featuring it!

@@Ilham_AT Sayang kedai Nasi Campur Melayu jarang restoran macam tu.

I am so happy that you finally did Malay food... it is so underrated in Singapore... every time someone does a food segment in Singapore the Malay cuisine is not featured or only 1 or 2 dishes like nasi lemak or nasi ayam penyet... We have so much more in our cuisine because we have different ethnic groups within the Malay race itself.... and this is just the tip of the iceberg.... 👍

Even as a Chinese Singaporean, I love our Malay food! You guys really gotta try, not just this restaurant, but day-to-day fares like Mee Rebus, Mee Siam etc… pretty sure you guys will love it. Even Chinese fares prepared in compliance to halal. Even if you have Muslim friends they can get to enjoy too! Enjoy your stay 😊

Yesss Mark you're still the best at showing what all the different ethnic groups in Singapore can offer instead of just focusing on the majority group. PLEASE GO TO GEYLANG SERAI MARKET & FOOD CENTRE NEXT TIME YOU'RE IN SINGAPORE - Try Iqbal Soup Kambing, Sinar Pagi Nasi Padang, GS Oli Appom, Laksa Siglap, Otah and many more. Do go on a weekend morning for the best offerings. ⭐

Lol. I order from a Chinese spot once a week and always get around $90.00 worth of food because I can't decide what I want. The owner is appreciative of me so he always drives the order to me personally. Last week he said he hopes my family enjoys the food and I told him I live alone, it's all for me. He almost passed out he could not believe it. 😆

It's very difficult to find Malay restaurant abroad, especially when there are very few Malays who are overseas compared to Filipinos and Indonesians. I think you should try Indonesian cuisine, because in Singapore and Malaysia Indonesian cuisine is very popular through its Padang cuisine, even Padang cuisine greatly influences the taste of Malay people. On RU-vid I often find vloggers who visit Indonesian restaurants in Tokyo, especially those that sell Padang dishes such as rendang and gulai, maybe you can visit them.
