Thanks Mate, that was one of the most honest and informative you tube videos I have watched, telling me exactly what I needed to know. I was tossing up between Singapore Airlines and Malaysian to KL with a connecting flight to Langkawi. I never want to experience what you did with your cancelled flight to Bali as I have been through it before and that is a deal breaker for me. I'm going Singapore Airlines. Hope you enjoyed India

Thanks for the feedback! Yep I would choose Singapore Airlines any day over Malaysia Airlines. After Malaysia Airlines cancelled my flight from KL to Bali, i ended up booking with Singapore Airlines to Singapore then onto Bali. I love Singapore Airlines!

I love that you're flying internationally again! Really hope your refund situation works out well. Coincidentally, one of my last flights (before covid) was on MH business class from London to Kuala Lumpur on their a350 featuring these seats. My flight was also delayed for technical reasons (IFE system not working) for almost 24 hours; but their customer service response was excellent. Basically I didn't have to do anything except enjoy an extra day in London! So to hear you got this slow response was indeed very disappointing. I know that top management has been changed since; and also staffing numbers have been drastically cut back these past two years since I've flown them. I hope these changes don't affect MH too much because I'd love to fly them again. Take care, and safe travels always!

I love that I am flying internationally again 😉 hehe The flight with MH to KL was really very good. The cabin staff were excellent. After posting my video last night, I got an email from their customer support team saying they will investigate and respond to me with an outcome in 7 - 14 days. I will be patiently waiting to see if I get a credit.

MH regular here and I must say if you’ve flown them enough you’re bound to encounter irrops. The English call centre is powerless because they’re mostly outsourced to Fiji, but I’m not sure if this has changed since covid. I had 2 missed connections on MH in J the year before covid and in both cases the transfer counter at KUL was extremely helpful in sorting things out. First was a missed international connection and I was given the choice of the next MH flight 14 hrs later or CX 8 hrs later (extra connection at HKG). Chose MH to get more rest and the CX option would have arrived at the final stop at the same time anyway. Second was a missed domestic connection due to severe weather (one fateful day when their A380s were diverted to SIN). Both instances MH offered a free night at sama-sama hotel at the airport with breakfast. Those who missed connections in Y were also provided with a hotel stay. I can’t speak to their service recovery standards in 2022 because I’ve had no disruptions so far (touchwood) and I hope you get the refunds sorted out soon! Many of us keep returning to MH because we have learned to dissociate their excellent inflight service from the occasionally frustrating experience off the plane. Stockholm syndrome perhaps.

I had called the Malaysia Airlines 2 times and both times I am sure that both times I spoke with a Malaysian. Still waiting on a credit for the cancelled flight. Have emailed their customer service department a number of times, get a ticket number emailed back to me but never hear back. very poor service

Wonderful video! So happy to see you flying international again!!! I flew from Sydney to Ho Chi Minh a week or so before Easter too. Omg security was a pain indeed!! Getting a credit with airlines is often a pain, unfortunately I’ve heard MH is one of the most challenging airline to deal with. Surprisingly Jetstar was the easier I’ve dealt with so far. I hope you get yours with MH soon! I too had a cancelled flight with Gulf Air just yesterday from Bahrain to Singapore. Airport staff and call centre could not help with rescheduling. They wanted to refund me instead but that meant I would be stranded in Bahrain. Luckily a Gulf Air employee saw how frustrated I was, she called a special line to get my ticket sorted, although that meant an extra connecting flight and in economy (I paid business)

Yep International travel is not what it used to be! I have a Garuda Airlines flight from Bali to Jakarta next week and it has been resheduled 3 times in the last 2 weeks! I will keep chasing Malaysian Airlines for that credit! I am not looking forward to calling their call centre. Such a long wait to get through to speak to someone. Thans for watching!

As Malaysian, I feel sorry for your experience. I had this experience before with MH, cancelled my flight without giving me any notice, but luckily the customer service centre helped me to shift my flight to another airlines.

My experiences flying Business class with MAS has ALWAYS been excellent. Recall I missed a connecting flight. They gave me a suite in their lounge reserved only for 1st class pax with all meals etc. I didn't want to leave the airport & chose to stay in & work / rest. I enjoy flying with MAS or SQ.

When Malaysia Airlines cancelled my flight, i called their call centre to ask if they would pay for accommodation or even give me food and drinks vouchers for the 28 hours I had to spend at KLIA and they said they did not do that. I guess their service has changed. Guess I wont be choosing to fly Malaysia Airlines again

Man, I do really miss flying international! I was such a regular on this MH A330 pre-youtube. I always look forward to my MH flights purely because of the satay. Gone are the days of 2 full meals on these Asian carriers between Oz and Asia. SQ has (shock horror) reduced their meals to only 1 especially on red-eye. Unfortunately the ground service for MH leaves a lot to be desired... Its one of the worst in the industry

So true. All the airlines cutting back on food service where they can. Meals getting smaller. I still chasing Malaysian Airlines for a credit. The flight crew were excellent but their customer service is bad.

Nice video and thanks for the taste of what to experience when I fly this next year. You mentioned your Qantas status credits. Are you bronze or silver, otherwise you should have been allowed into the Qantas lounges? I've heard MH ground service can be poor and they should have at least put you up in a hotel!

This flight was back in April 2022. I am pretty sure the Qantas Lounge closed early back then as there were no other Qantas flights later into the night. This MH flight was one of the last to leave.

@@NowGetThere oh riteo, thanks! I think QF were only using the first class lounge for a while and not allowing other one world airlines in. A mate flying CX J was not allowed in. Also thanks for the heads-up about no dinner onboard other than the satay. I would have expected one so I’ll eat up in the lounge :)

Informative review of the 5A seat. Sorry to hear about the Bali connection. Was there anything opened at KLIA at that very early arrival into KL ? I am on that flight soon and wondering what to do before hotel check in on the day. I believe the KLIA express service does not begin running until 6.00am.

Nothing was open at 5am in KLIA and yes the train to the other terminal did not start to 6am. There was a coffeeshop on level 2 that opened at 6am. KLIA used to be open 24 hours a day very sad to see it so quiet. I just posted a review of my Singapore Airlines flight from KL to Singapoe and shows how quiet terminal M was

yes big difference between a jet plane A320 and twin prop like a de havilland taking off. More thrust on the A320 but both are fun

I’m guessing that there were less security gates open due to staff shortages possibly due to either getting COVID or a close contact of someone who has COVID.

@@NowGetThere and there was an increase in covid cases as well, plus some of the security staff prior to covid might have been foreigners who did not have JK or JS support so they left Australia, that also might have contributed to the staff shortages

Not sure with the accuracy pertaining to the use of the business class lounges. I called MAS Australia today and they confirmed MH Business Class passengers are entitled to use the Qantas International Business Lounge. A friend of mine flew to KL via MH a few months ago and got to use the Qantas lounge as well. Thanks for the rest of the info.

On the night I left Sydney there was definitely no access to the Qantas lounge. The last Qantas flight left at 7.25pm. There was an Emirates flight Qf8413 that left at 9.10pm. I would suggest the Qantas lounge closed after the last QF flight. The MH flight was at 10.10pm. How long did it take you to get though to the MAS phone line? I had called their call centre 2 times, on hold for 45 minutes and 30 minutes to get to speak to someone

@@NowGetThere That was probably the reason why, rather than MH not entitling you to use the lounge. This was probably more an issue with QF who operates the lounge, and it’s nice that MH offered an alternative solution to lounge access.

No i did not get any refund for the flight they cancelled. When I first lodge the refund request I got an email from them saying someone would contact me within 10 business days. Never heard back, despite sending 10 emails to them. Not 1 reply. Bad service from Malaysia Airlines.

What s the deal with MAS cancelling flights? I booked a flight from NRT to KUL back in April 2022. Flight is in December. MAS canceled my flight in July. Before I could reschedule my flight, MAS reinstated that flight and assured me that flight will not be canceled anymore. 2 days ago, MAS canceled the same freaking flight. Called MAS and agent told me cancellation is due to weather or aircraft issue. Really? LOL!

Malaysia Airlines seriously disorganised. I presume they got rid of a heap of people during the pandemic and seriously understaffed I am surprised you got through to speak to someone. I had called twice and waited 30 minutes then 45 minutes to get through to someone.

4th :( great to see a video again, unfortunately until all countries remove testing requirements and airlines don't require masks anymore I don't think air travel will be the same again I personally don't want to be served by cabin crew wearing full safety gowns eye shields and masks it would feel like a zombie apocalypse lol. I'll only fly if it's absolutely necessary

Hopefully you get better service and food than what I got! My flight was a few years ago at the end of lockdowns so hopefully they have improved but Malyasia Airlines are on my No Fly list!

What a disappointing dinner . You should have had three servings of satay! Just water on boarding ? Disgraceful ! The worst part was no compensation like meals or hotel stay due to the cancelled connecting flight. I remember a NZ airline giving me hotel stay overnight as well as dinner and breakfast at the hotel in Auckland before I got a rescheduled flight the next morning . That’s how they should treat their travellers , and I was only flying economy on that trip .

@@NowGetThere When Virgin stopped flying direct from Phuket to Melbourne they called me by phone weeks before and said I'd be flying on Singapore Airlines .I was due to fly Garuda to Europe and was told they would put me on a QANTAS plane from Singapore and a KLM flight from Europe.At least they took some responsibility !!! Hope your trip back was a bit better !

@@johncurtain2516 I had a Garuda flight in Economy from Bali to Jakarta which was delayed by just 1 hour. The ground crew came and gave everyone a snack box, sandwich, cake, chocolate bar and bottle of water. Big difference between Garuda service and Malaysia!

The customer service at Malaysian Airlines is horrible. I did get an email from them this morning saying they will reply to my email in 7 - 14 days! That email was 5 days after I sent my email to them. I plan to post a video of the whole experience once I get a result from MH. Still got fingers crossed for a credit but even if I get a credit I doubt I will use it.......their service definitely left a bad impression. The onboard crew were lovely but their customer service needs a huge improvement.

Probably the worst business class I've seen. MH service sounds terrible. I think I'll avoid their business class despite them being one of the few airlines doing international from Adelaide.

4:00 water is better than alcohol or a sugary reconsituted drink, flights are dehydrating, so just be happy you were being hydrated.

With the price of a business class ticket the passenger has the right to get any drink or food they want. Regardless wether it’s bad for them or not! That’s what we pay for. Food,service & comfort.
