This is my first time in Malaysia! I'm so happy to be here in Kuala Lumpur for the first time. I am so happy to share my first impressions of both Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur with you!
In this video, we fly into KLIA before we catch the KL Ekspres train from KLIA to KL Sentral. We check into our hotel, the Hilton KL, and get ready to explore!
We’re staying in the KL Sentral and Brickfields area of Kuala Lumpur, so we grab a traditional Malaysian Breakfast of Roti Bakar, Hainan Tea, and Milo at Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea, before we set out on foot to see what the city has to offer, including catching public transport in Kuala Lumpur to see Dataran Merdeka JUST before Malaysian Independence day next week, Masjid Jamek, the River of Life, Kampang Baru, and the Petronas Towers. We spend our time also searching for some local food, particularly Nasi Lemak in Kampang Bharu, Kuala Lumpur, having our FIRST EVER Nasi Lemak at what some people call the BEST Nasi Lemak in Kuala Lumpur - Nasi Lemak Wanjo!

I'm a Singaporean married to a Malaysian, sadly as much as it hurts to admit it, I think Malaysian foods are way superior than ours. Especially Malay and Indian food, it's like day and night. I think it's mainly because they can get fresh produce everywhere. If you're still in Malaysia by the 31st of August you should go to their Independence's Day celebration. There will be a parade of all sorts showcasing their military prowess, government agencies and diverse cultures.

Same heritage people. But with much more diversity in Malaysia. There is already state to state food variant and each state unique food as well and span across different cultures. And let us not forget East Malaysia. For me Sgp is just only another variant. You guys have great food for sure and doing a good job on preservation with lots of marketing. Ours depends a lot on visitors review and word of mouth which are good for us. It is also a matter of preference. For me imperfection in surrounding than a polished and dictated surrounding adds on to the experience that money can't buy.

Malaysian coffee uses local beans that is called Librica afaik. Usually roasted with margarine (malay version) or butter (hakka/hokkien style). Can't much about mamak style, never asked them where they sourced their coffee. Nasi Lemak sambal are always homemade and are different between each kitchen that makes them. Different races also have different variation of it. If you want to order drinks, here's some tips: - Kosong (zero) means no sugar - "O" as in the letter O means no milk/creamer - kurang manis means less sweet (although it can be still sweet, lol) - Kaw or Kaw-kaw (pronounce as cow and cow cow respectively) means extra thick (usually when ordering coffee or milo) - some malays uses the word "bing" or "beng" for ice (but only on drinks) Example, Teh O means black tea no milk/creamer. Teh O bing, iced tea. Do be careful with sugar intake, things are very sweet even in sambals. Edit: I''m not Malaysian if I dont recommend Ramly Burger. So do try it. Order Beef or Chicken special to start and ask for less chilli sauce if you cant handle the heat.

For the coffee part, it's fun how Malaysian kind of transform western coffee into their own unique local coffee, locally roasted beans too. You may try these out: C = Evaporated Milk & Kosong (Empty) = Without sugar Kopi O = Americano with sugar Kopi O Kosong = Americano without sugar Kopi C = Latte with sugar Kopi C Kosong = Latte without sugar You can change the kopi (coffee) to teh (tea) or cham (tea mix with coffee) Have fun in Malaysia! But remember to look after your valuables, keep them close to you. Malaysia is a beautiful country but still, must be careful. Have a great journey ahead. Cheers, A Malaysian

The thing about traditional Malaysian coffee is that the beans are roasted with sugar and butter. So Malaysian coffee is a bit more bitter than usual from the burnt sugar but it also has that very slight aftertaste of caramel.

Try *nasi dagang* and *laksam* at *kak som* (across from wanjo), *pulut mangga (mango + fragrant sticky rice smothered with coconut milk)* as well as simple seafood dinner at *suraya seafood* (just a few shops further in from kak som down the same street) and variety of *traditional malay kuih* and *traditional malay bubur (sweet porridges eg corn, mung beans etc)* as snacks/desserts from *chunburi* (corner shop across from suraya). But if you go to suraya, best be there around 7pm, if you go at 8 or 9, it's usually packed, you'd have to wait a bit before getting a table. Enjoy! 👍

There's no such thing as a perfect life that is trouble-free, no difficulties, no pain.etc. Yes, we can set goals in life, but let's be thankful for where we are right now, and thankful for what we have right now. Count your blessings. God is good.

You hit the nail on the right spot. That place in pudu is a good starting point for food. Next is little india brickfields. Then kampung baru. You can go try jalan alor later but food price there is higher as it is touristy. For china town, do not go at night, go in the morning. More food is sold in the morning.

Sipadan Island 🏝 located in the east coast of Sabah, Malaysia is a MUST-VISIT spot for everyone. According to Wikipedia, it’s the only oceanic island in Malaysia, rising 600 meters (2,000 ft) from the seabed. It was formed by living corals growing on top of an extinct volcano cone that took thousands of years to develop. It was one of the top dive destination in the world, even listed in Rodale’s Scuba Diving Magazine Gold List. Visiting Sipadan Island requires a permit issued by Sabah Parks, a Sabah Government Agency. Since 2019, there are 178 permits available each day. In certain period of the year, the island will be closed to public for “Marine Life Recuperation”. So, do plan ahead for your visit to Sabah. Enjoy the your stay in Malaysia! 😉

There are two more hill stations, the Maxwell Hill (Bukit Larut), at Taiping, Perak and Gunung Jerai in Kedah... both for nature and cool temp. But if you want to enjoy nature camping or swimming in the streams, Hulu Langat and Janda Baik which are 1 hour drive to the south east or north east of KL respectively, are places worthwhile for you to visit. Kuala Kubu Bharu, Batang Kali is also popular (a good 1hr15min frm KL) and you can do white water rafting in the former town. Then if you wanted to visit paddy fields and fishing villages, the Jeram to Sabak Bernam route (about 1hr30min frm KL) is for you. If you plan to visit Ipoh and then Penang stop at a few towns along the way namely Taiping where the Maxwell Hill that I mentioned before is (the city of first, called this as this is where many of the infrastructure in Malaysia was first developed here, first public pool, first museum, first post office, first train station etc). Also Kuala Kangsar (the Royal Town), nice architecture of places etc and also you can visit the artisans there, ie keris maker, tekat embroider, labu sayong clayware. Want to have a relaxing dip in a Hotspring, Sungai Klah (Felda Hotspring resort) and Tambun (Banjaran Hotspring, Lost world of Tambu) is where you should go. There are also hotspring resorts in Bentong, Pahang (eryabysurya) and in Kalumpang of Kuala Kubu Baru. And some smaller hotsprings in the areas of Batang Kali, Hulu Langat in Selangor,Pedas in Negeri Sembilan and Gadek and a few others in Melaka. As for things to do in and around KL, you can go to FRIM (Forest Research Institute of Malaysia ) for canopy walk, climb Broga Hill in Semenyih, go for a tour of one of our popular fresh milk brand's dairy farm at farm fresh at UPM (aka The Acres by farm fresh) in Serdang and the nearby pineapple Plantation in Sungai Merab, Bangi.... Sunway Lagoon (theme park), Shah Alam's I-CIty (also a theme park), The National Agricultural Park and Skytrex adventure park also in Shah Alam. Also Crab Island (Pulau Ketam) a Chinese fishing village of Port Klang. Pulau Carey to visit the Mahmeri (one of our indegenous tribe) cultural Village. Nearer to KL, Zoo Negara, also Kemensah area where you can dine in the river (Kemensah BBq Lamb) Talking about food, also near to the zoo is Taman Melawati where you can get lemang and rendang along the highway near the zoo, nasi ayam (chicken rice) Melawati at the food court, Tisha's Murtabak at Anjung Melawati and If you decided to go early in on Saturday n Sunday mornings, there are Mee Rebus (noodle dish) and rojak at Haji Ismail's at the food court by the morning farmer's Market and in the evening on Saturdays there will be a night Market there.... You can also visit KL Night Street every night except Mondays at Sri Rampai but if you decide to go there go early afternoon before 3 so that you can visit the Royal Selangor factory (pewter ware) before going to the night Market. I also recommend you to go to the Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman's Saturday Night Market, Taman Connaught Wednesday Night Market.

In some cases, street stalls serve much tastier, authentic and more satisfying food than five star hotels food. Malaysia also famous for fusion food, combination of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Thai, Western, and so on. my personal fav restaurant is Mamak Restaurant (Indian Muslim), or any malay restaurant... here some tips: the more customers a restaurant has, the tastier the food is.

They have a nice place of attractions in ayer keroh which is right after the toll plaza off the north-south highway, about 2 hours drive from kl and about 3 hours before jb. Their melaka zoo was very nice but idk how it is now, post pandemic. Further in, about ½hour drive is the city centre, where you can visit the historic structures left by the dutch and the portuguese from the 18th century, as well as the famous jonker street.
