I'm a Malaysian who worked in Singapore for several years - Now I've chosen to come back and work in Malaysia. Totally agree with all the views here. There are some things better in Singapore, and others - better in Malaysia. End of day, depends on what stage of life you're in, what your situation is and what your goals in life are. A very personal question , to each his own...

😂 the malay abdooo even gets to work in Singapore is certainly not employed based on meritocracy by the private sector with no relationship with the malaysia companies set up based on discrimination policies against the non Muslims non Malays. Shame to even shout the claim of working in Singapore unlike the non muslims Chinese malaysia citizens who are in demand all over the world based on meritocracy whose qualifications are hard earned and not passed based on the malaysia discrimination quota policies. 😂

I'm Singaporean and have been working in Malaysia for five years with a salary of 4000 RM as a degree holder. Over time, I've felt increasingly like I've been wasting my efforts here as costs rise and services become more inaccessible, alongside the growing presence of immigrants with diverse ways of speaking. Recognizing Singapore's widespread use of English and its better fit for communication, I've come to appreciate it more and miss it as my true home. Consequently, I've decided to return to Singapore for work, where I feel I truly belong. I now view Malaysia as best suited for a temporary stay, especially as the concept of "home" feels increasingly transient, akin to a hotel or Airbnb. Additionally, I've noticed that many Malaysians start their own businesses and become bosses, but these ventures don't always endure in the long run.

Personally I just find it funny that Malaysians say Singaporeans kiasu and uses "kiasu" as a derogatory term. As a Singaporean, I'm proud that we're kiasu. They both are similar to me. There are people in Singapore, Malaysia and actually everywhere that have enough money and assets to outlive our lifespans so we focus less on work and more on how to live and pass time. A lot of places are largely the same when you are a member of us in this world. The differences in this world are the people and how their desires and predicaments end up shaling and giving flavour to the places they are trap and living in.

The affordability ratio or ratio of Hdb flat price to Household yearly income in Singapore, is 5 which is near the lowest in whole world, which means Hdb flat price relative to household income is very affordable , and yet some young Singapore people keep grumbling and wanting the ratio to drop to even lower . In fact from year 2011 to year 2021, Hbd flat price remain stagnant or was going down slightly for 10 years, causing virtually all Hdb flat owners to have huge financial losses for those 10 years, and this was caused by the more than 10 years of non stop Singapore gov cooling measures, and the very huge financial losses suffered by all Hdb flat owners for those 10 years , was due to bank interest rate cost +loss of interest in cpf as cpf money was used up to buy flat+ inflation causing loss when flat price remain unchanged for 10 years while inflation surged up.

Singapore perhaps is a victim of its own success. When things go smoothly, the locals start to look inwards and find nitty gritty faults. It doesn't help that this group of people are the internet warriors too. That's why they call the rest the silent majority. It takes those living abroad to see the wider picture and realize that compared to most elsewhere, S'pore is actually doing pretty ok.

Upon independence Sg is worse off than Msia. By 1978, in a short span of 16 yrs Sg progressed so well that China’s Deng Xiao Ping visited Sg went back & told China people to learn from Sg & do better. LKY told Deng that China with its population & huge pool of talents will surpass Sg in 30 yrs. Which they did and showcase to the world thru 2008 Beijing Olympics. If Msia had done the same as China its progress & development for the past 60 yrs will well surpass Sg. Hence the big gap between Sg & Msia.

The magnitude of entitlement seems greater. The whole argument of I paid for it and therefore I demand x y and z. Therefore, in general it may seem that Singaporeans complain more. When it comes to foods, we need to admit that most of the traditional foods in sg originated elsewhere. Some tweaks here and there may exist in sg but we must not be defensive and say char kuay teow , prawn mee, wan tan mee, chicken rice etc comes from sg. Malaysian foods tastes better because the raw materials are Fresher there. Sg essentially imports all food raw materials from malaysia and elsewhere. It can Never be Fresher. Freshness affects taste. Also the expensiveness in sg means food portions or materials are always in smaller servings and even more artificial foods are used than needed. ☘️This is important so try to read and understand it. It is not hard actually either. We start life untrained and at low rpg level. When we leveled up and become more enlightened we learn to take down our ego and desires and we search for more similarities in life rather than differences and we becone more chilled and composed in life. When we are not being able to leveled up in life our ego and desires have more control over ourselves so we like to compare and out of comparing pride,spite and scorn arise out if it and then we turn into the restless noisy and bitchy people we see in life everyday and everywhere.

The biggest common point of Malaysians and Singaporeans are both attempt to work very hard in order to aim for success and top spot in life. meaning at this level all are workers. The difference between Singaporeans and Malaysians if they managed to achieved success are Singaporeans live high up in very expensive and well done up ivory tower. Nothing to see in the ground anymore as all that can be seen are people hustling trying to eke a living so it is boring. Malaysians if they become successful they dont cope themselves up in the castle they made they have the whole country to explore when they became freed of life mundane tasks such as working. The above described how both live when they have to live in their countries. They both become similiar again when they have the mood and urge to go overseas for holidays.
@tenwhite769
@tenwhite769 25 дней назад
This is groundless conjecture. There are more similarities than differences for working people in big cities all over the world. I don't see much difference between KL or Singapore people. They deal with same: jobs, traffic, food, family, and other urban trappings. Maybe in small town could be different but then again who wants to live in ulu area? Malaysian is just not realistic using this point as an advantage over Singapore. You can go to rural area for a short break but to live there definitely a big no.

The sooner you stop talking about others which is 100% waste of time, and focusing on getting better, then, you will be. Malaysia is pretty alright too now in ASEAN, going to be high income in 2-3 years with GDP per capita of US$15,000. That is also the whole country, many states like Klang Valley already US$20,000 - US$25,000 gonna hit US$30,000 by 2030.

I disagree for Q1, if one works in MNC. I am Malaysian who has lived 15 years in Malaysia, and 22 years in Singapore. Dollar for dollar, if one earns 10K SGD in Singapore vs. 10K RM in Malaysia, I think the Malaysian earning 10K RM lives a more comfortable life, live in a bigger house, drives a bigger car, works shorter hours, less stressful too.
