malcolm mcnab, playing the tchaikovsky violin concerto on a trumpet! enjoy! its the third movement - allegro vivacissimo. just comment if you want more stuff from this album!
Me: It's not possible to play the Tchaikovsky violin concerto on trumpet. Even if one could work out how to play such rapid passages and extremes of register in tune and with the same facility of a violinist, the endurance required to do so over a half hour of relentless playing would be extraterrestrial. Malcolm McNab:
Rick Baptist once told us (students) " i know guys that can play circles around the guys you think are really great" - he was probably talking about this guy!
Wow. I've not come across this chap before. Sounds like a Bb trumpet moving to pic at the end, and I think that puts him in an appalling key that makes intonation unbelievably difficult on top of everything else. Amazing.
I met him in person a few weeks ago, he was incredible! Really nice guy with tons to share and obviously a phenomenal player. Undoubtedly one of the best in the world in my opinion :)
You've come across him before, he's credited on nearly 2000 films and television soundtracks. You were just unaware of who you were listening to. Malcolm has been in the business for decades!
I wish there were more(any) live videos of Malcolm......... one of the very best. This was his first solo cd. but he played on more then 1500 movie soundtracks! check out moviebrassdotcom.
1st time i've heard the last two notes of !he solo part. The mans virtuosity hovers in the grey area between inspiration and despair for the brass playing fraternity. Has he done the Mendelssohn yet? If not i'm sure its in the pipeline.
amaizing trumpet such control sorry to beg but can u please post the first movment of the tchaik concerto as malcom plays it i love his playing and i heard the recording on his site but only a small clip it would be largely apreciated please let me know when it is posted =)
Holy s***!!!! Does anyone know how this was recorded? What horns, how many takes etc?? This is truly incredible. People can only DREAM of having this kind of ability.. A truly gifted individual.
I have seen a photo of the rather small recording space with, at most, only room for several musicians at a time. The stunning solo of Malcolm McNab I have no idea about how it was recorded and if possible, even less about such playing is possible.
I think your missing the point wrecking balls-any half decent violinist could play this piece-but only a small handful of people in the world could play to this standard on a Trumpet. With a violin you can breathe when you like-there is NO comparison.
