Malcolm Rifkind MP, who served in Lady Thatcher's Cabinet as Secretary of State for Scotland said it was "never dull" working with her, a comment which provoked warm laughter from fellow MPs.
He said she was "intolerant of people who were woolly", describing as her as the most "radical prime minister of the last few generations",
Mr Rifkind added that she recognised that Britain had gone the wrong way before quoting the novel The Leopard by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, which says that "if we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change".
