I was front row at this concert. At the time they had the steps in the center pulled out from under the stage. BJ stepped down and we shook hands. Even though I've shaken hands with two US presidents and one who would be president but for the fact that he was assassinated, my encounter with BJ seems so much more important. Why? I have no idea. Although I'm holding tickets to his concert scheduled for August 8, 2021 I realize that things really do come to an end. This would have been my fourth concert with BJ but alas, as Brad Paisley opined "There's a last time for everything." How true that is in today's world. Rest in Peace Billy Jo. Back in 1970, I was a K-9 handler in Vietnam. We normally worked from sundown to sunup. Three of my fellow dog-men and I used to like to unwind and drink our worries away when we were back at our hooch. One of them had an old B.J. Thomas tape with "Mama"; "Billy and Sue", and others, which we wore out. We'd get especially nostalgic when "Mama" came on. We used to say we had three weaknesses: Whiskey, women, and B.J. Thomas... 😁
