Brittany, many thanks for sharing your story about your Dad. I am a drummer, since I was 15 years old. I have a great story to share with you. I was a Sheriff for 28 years. One day on patrol, I received a complaint on my beat about a loud band. When I arrived at the house in question, I was met with a 5 member band, who were playing all the old classics. The band had this excellent girl singer. The age of the band members ranged around 16 to 18 years of age. I don’t know how this happened, but I asked the girl singer if I could sit in on a few songs. All of them were blown away and the first song we played was Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones. Before I knew it, there were about 25 kids watching us play. The guy who had complained about the loud music, went ballistic on me when he saw me playing with the band. It was one of the highlights of my Police career. 👍👍👍👍

My wife and her mom saw BJ Thomas at the Crazy Horse in Santa Ana, Ca. My wife's mom was handicapped and sitting off to the side of the stage. After the concert was done, he came up to her and asked her if she enjoyed the concert. She was tongue tied and flustered...but enjoyed it all. Speaks volumes about what type of person BJ was. We saw him at Turning Stone casino, (near Syracuse, NY). Fantastic show and showmanship, without technology dumped all over everything. No loud pyrotechnics, no 50 back-up singers and dancers. Just the band, the man, and his talent. We had stage-side seats, and I sat with my fingertips on the edge of the stage for 2 hours. He was so close, I could see the teeny stitches in the hem of his trousers (of his beautifully cut gray Italian double-breasted suit). He took the time to shake hands with everyone who came up to the stage. One of the best nights! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks, Fil!

BJ Thomas and his beautiful voice were a national treasure. Thank you to his beautiful wife, Gloria, for supporting him and sharing him with his fans. My late husband and I saw him at an outdoor concert in Midland, TX in the late 90s. His voice was mesmerizing and we enjoyed a lovely evening. May he rest in eternal peace. Thank you, Fil, for this video.

I've really liked BJ Thomas for years but during the last 5 years my admiration for him has grown into Full Blown Love! Truly one of the finest, most versatile artist America has ever produced. He handled Country, Pop, Rock and Gospel with equal ease and finesse. Essentially a M.O.R. crooner and at least Elvis Presleys equal when it came to vocal capability. I confess I love his Gospel albums of the late 70s/ early 80s the most but this man recorded so many great Country, Pop and Easy Listening songs/ albums which are timeless in their appeal. May he rest in peace.

His Raindrops song is one of the favorite songs of my childhood. I named one of my cats B.J. in his honor. 😻 His songs will live on. I love many of his Christian songs.

I was lucky enough to back up BJ Thomas and other celebs at an evetn in the late 80's. Really nice guy with no attitude at all. Also want to say I love your reaction / analysis videos - they are a real pleasure to watch!

Had forgotten how often B. J, Thomas was on the radio during the 60s and 70s. Loved the tone of his voice, and the naturalness of his performances. Fil, have you done any analysis of Johnny Cash, would love to see an analysis of his guitar skill set, and his singing.

My sister posted a comment on this, and I'm 8 months late. Drummer there is my dad too. We had the chance to ride the tour bus (when they still used it) a long time ago. I loved riding the top bunks, but never slept there because I was afraid I would fall out cause I was a dumb little kid and it seemed likely. Things like this video really remind me about when I was listening to their sound checks. Got real excited when they started practicing one I liked and knew. I wasn't lucid enough to appreciate those things then but I sure as hell do now. Appreciate the critical approach and analysis, Fil.

Thanks for this memorial, to one of the greatest vocalists of my lifetime. Started listening after watching Butch and Sundance. Like all his fans, sorry to hear of his passing.

Man he still had it and so crisp like it was a record. Thank you for explaining about the mic secrets that a lot of famous singers don't know about. My gripe is when I hear a singer inhale during a song.

The line “This time the girl is gonna stay…for more than just a day”, manages to grab me no matter how many times I hear it.
