"Words don't come easy" has some very dangerous live performances at concerts and fan meetings. Often with a lucky fan brought up onstage for them to dance with and tease They actually have quite a few sensual songs like this, often one per album. But not always. And some of them also have solo songs in the same vein (such as wheein's "moderato" and "trash" and moonbyul's "shutdown") Oh, and those male background vocals were most likely composer and producer park woosang. He tends to sing the chorus parts of the songs he writes to show how they should go and more than once has kept that in the final version for a little added flavor. He has worked on quite a few songs for the rbw artists, typically some of their more popular ones

these MV's are a bit tricky to find on the official YT channel. "Hometown" for example is called "고향이" and has english subs. On time put some effort in organizing the MVs to a playlist but I think, it still isn't complete ;-)

"Cat fight" actually has an adorable live performance they did years later at a fan meeting where all the girls wore cat ears while singing and dancing. Definitely worth checking out The same fan meeting also had unit performances with moonbyul and wheein doing a mashup of some of their solo songs while dancing (wheein's "easy" and "moderato", moonbyul's "selfish") and solar and hwasa did a cute cover of the 'sailor moon' theme song while in costume

here are some notes i have for some of the songs: taller than you: every member except wheein took part in writing the lyrics. live performances of this song are absolutely chaotic and they even perform in prison outfits, stilts, extra large heads, and even... minion costumes. i even recall multiple performances wheein pulled up in a 10 ft high costume. words dont come easy: the live performances are extremely...sexy. sexy enough that they changed bits of the choreography when the members' parents came to their concert lmao. they would also pull a fan on stage during a certain part of the song and all members would crowd around them. youre the best: mamamoo got their first music show win with this song and this song could be considered as one of the turning points of their career. they also did adlibs in the middle of the song, including slapping each other, rolling imaginary bowling balls, striking poses, and punching each other in slow motion recipe: mamamoo has performed this song live while cooking on stage. they had a table full of ingredients and members would sing while cooking with their mics propped up on the table. i miss you: their queendom performance of this song is my absolute favorite of their i miss you performances. not only did it show how beautifully their voices matured through the years, but clips of them singing before they debut were played on a big screen AND moonbyul changed her rap from talking about a breakup to expressing her gratitude for moomoos (mamamoo fans)

Aw! Jjing jjing! That dog you see in both "taller than you" and "my hometown" was solar's salt and pepper schnauzer, jjing jjing, who had been with her 18 years (she passed away a few years ago, and solar and her sister habe since adopted a new dog, yongkeey, who has her own youtube channel. Mostly run by solar's sister) So glad jing was immortalized in these two videos And it is frustrating trying to find the mvs with lyrics for some of their songs. Much much of the time the official mamamoo channel will have subs (provided by fans) but that channel appears so far down in mkst searches. Other times even that doesn't have subs so might just have medeocre translations on the distributer channel (usually stone music ent or 1thek) "Taller than you", also called "pride of 1 cm" or just "1 cm" is a joking diss track about their heights even though they're all short and there is literally only 1 cm of difference between each pair. Wheein is the shortest at 159 cm, then hwasa at 160, solar at 161 and moonbyul at 162.8 (she will never let go of that 0.8 and ensures everyone remembers it). Basically, they're all 5'2" or 5'3" for us americans For years they would bicker over these heights, race to be the first pick out heels for performances, shoots and the like (the first one there always picked the tallest heels. And 3 of the members wear the dame shoe size, with wheein wearing slightly (10 mm) smaller). Their field/music ceo, kim doohoon, or kdh, saw this and suggested they channel thst into a song. And here we are. (Funny enough, the mv shoot caused another comedy song to be born, "sleep in the car")

The my hometown mv might not be the best way to listen to the song for the first time, but it's still lovely! as you noticed there are parts that use the official song audio and parts that are just the sound from them singing on location, and switching between the two can be a bit jarring if you're not expecting it! it also has long sections without singing, that aren't in the official version of the song. still i love both versions, they make my heart smile :D

"I miss you" has some great performances from around the time it was released, but the version they performed on 'queendom' years later quickly became the go-to version upon release They sang it for the fan's choice stage and reworked it (primarily byul's rap) from a breakup song to one about the fans And it showed just how their voiced and techniques have improved over the years, even with how incredible they were from the beginning

Melting was their first full album but it wasn't their debut album - they released 3 EP's before Melting. Watch the MVs on their yt channel for subtitles. Each MMM MV is uploaded twice - on MMM's channel and on a music distribution channel. Unfortunately prior to 2018 the MVs uploaded by the music distributor aren't subtitled. A standard yt search will only show you the alt MV so you have to go to MMM's channel and search there for the MV you want. Yes, it's annoying but that's RBW for you.

The video for Hometown is more of a special clip than a music video. The song on the album is more structured, while the video is mostly instrumental with some rap/chorus parts and live audio clips. It definitely fits the video style since the song itself is pretty vibey, but it's sadly missing Hwasa and Solar's rap parts.

There is technically a mv for "recipe", but it's pretty unusual, though fun to watch (you have to find the upload on dailymotion to get subtitles, though). It is 6 minutes long and basically just jas an extended version of the song as background music while the girls go shopping for ingredients and then have a cooking contest where solar and byul prepare kimchi fried rice and wheein and hwasa do ham fried rice (both mentioned in the lyrics). Then the staff voted on which dish they preferred Funny enough, these dishes are some of the more common things i cook, especially the ham and tuna version. Super simple stuff, super tasty (and a local korean store even carries the tuna with chilis that solar/byul accidentally used in the video)

They actually cook while singing Recipe at a concert. Not only are these women amazing vocalists, they are so down to earth and are not afraid to make these hilarious crackhead songs.

Thank you for doing this. I always enjoy your reactions. There are versions of most of these videos with subtitles. You have to get the ones on the Mamamoo channel. To do that go to the channel and search within. For some reason google will always bring up the versions on Stone Music, which have no subs. Notes on You're the Best. Solar fell in the pool during filming. The Guy is from Vromance another RBW group that unfortunately never went anywhere commercially. It seems to me that the last interaction between each of the girls and the guy they are getting tired of him. So I believe at the end they are initially upset at a new crop of girls taking his attention, but then they celebrate. Since they are actually done with him anyway. Whenever they perform Your the Best (and also Um Oh Ah Yeah) they come up with something different to do at that point where Wheein is just eating and signaling to wait. While this is their first full album they have several mini albums before this, so it strikes me as odd to call it their debut album. Debut was Mr Ambiguous.

The "my hometown" mv, as you gathered, really was just wheein and hwasa going back to their hometown (jeonju) and solar and moonbyul going to each others hometown areas together (solar is from seoul, byul from bucheon), showing each other where they grew up (while wheein and hwasa went to the hanok historical village they'd go to when skipping school). All four also got to see friends and family members, some of which was caught in the mv. And, of course, thst was the second mv that immortalizes jjing

Oh, for next album, we know there is a group album in the next few months, but no details beyond that We also know wheein and hwasa are both working on solo albums, but hwasa's was delayed for various reasons. No clue which of the three will drop first, but wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be wheein, mamamoo, hwasa (because of her delays), or wheein, hwasa, mamamoo
