Agreed. I am a drummer, which makes it pretty exciting to watch musicians like him playing drums. I'm looking foward, spread musical knowledge. Listening to those latin songs, makes you want to be even better. Just my opinion...
Very nice...Great Job! Thanks I'll look into Groove Essentials by Tommy Igoe's. Is it more of the same? I dig this music and your playing. Thank you for posting.
@Salvatoredrummer There are many variations. Among the most common is the Cascara bell pattern played w/ the right hand. I would suggest looking up mambo lessons on youtube. It would be easier than trying to explain it.
Great sound quality! Are these tracks from "The Play-Along" version of Groove Essentials? I want to dive deeper into Afro-Cuban drumming and your video has inspired me. I loved the Tower of Power video also.
I don't think it was in any books I had. I just wrote in a clave under the grooves I was studying so I had more textural options available. There are however books solely dedicated to that. I am not sure what they are though.
i read up in a book on mambo and salsa. it says that mambo is categorized by the mambo bell pattern while salsa is the cascara. but i realise i see many people playing the cascara pattern and mixing it with the salsa left hand with the rim then the toms. so what is the actual difference or can both be mixed up and still be called salsa or mambo
there are a lot,but they never get the recognition they deserve,do to the rockstar drummer type gating all the attention because they play louder and many people take that as being a good drummer.,i can name a few if you want.
