In just 48 hours Mammoth gets a mind blowing 7 feet of snow. On track for the best recorded snowfall in December and January. If you love the white stuff this video should satisfy your itch. It's a winter wonderland!
@@tcsadventures Yes, i did. I have a pacemaker and I think it clicked in just watching you work! Is this a rental? Condo? Does anyone else do the plowing?
Yeah it’s a rental. They do the condo paths, but couldn’t keep up with all the snow. They plow the street, but you’re on your own with the parking spaces.
I grew up in Mammoth/Bishop. I was there in the 2015 season and the snowfall was massive. But we were still able to ski. From what you’ve shown I think this year surpasses. During 2015 we only got out of town down to Bishop by CHP escort. We would have never made it down without them. Total white out conditions
It’s been a great December and 1st half of January, but the second half of January not so good. Hopefully it won’t be like last year when the season started out great and stalled out! I’ve driven in white out conditions up there too with a CHP escort - definitely a white knuckle experience! Thanks for watching!
We are camp hosts at East fork Campground, six miles up Rock Creek canyon from Tom's Place. We have never seen Mammoth in the winter. Our campground is at 9,000 foot elev. We may not get in until June, if then. Thanks for a view of town we only see in the Summer.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. We do a lot of camping and have to check out your campground (in the summer). Thanks for watching and I hope you find other videos on my channel that you enjoy. Thanks again!
Thank you! Much appreciated! I think you’re the first person to compliment the music I put on a video. I’ve had a couple of people on other videos say my music is awful lol. Because of copyrights, music selection can be a challenge - but I try. Thanks again for watching and the comment!
Yeah it makes me feel like a kid again! You run out of adjectives to describe it. I think I said “crazy” about 10 times lol! I really appreciate the comment!
For 10+ years I drive over once a year from Phoenix to do some trout fishing. We stay at Cardinal Village by Bishop. We fish all over and two of my favorites are Lake Mary (Mammoth) Rock Creek Lake by Tom’s. Beautiful country. There’s a group of us (guys trip) and we go end of Sept/early October. I’m a snow person and one day going to have to be there when it’s like this! Living vicariously through your vids! Thank you. Subscribed!
I don't live there. I live here in Michigan. I seen RU-vid videos such as the skiing there at Mammoth Mountain. Long time ago my history of skiing in American Western States was at Alta, Utah; Jackson Hole Ski Resort, Wyoming; Vail, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain, there in Colorado; and Taos Ski Valley and Angel Fire, New Mexico. Anyway back to Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. According to their RU-vid channel, they said it was 780 inches of snow on their a peak or highest measurement location back August, 2019. This the winter of 2018-2019 tbey had 19 FEET of Snow in December, 2018 in just 7 days. The ski season ended on August 6, 2019. That day there were girls skiing in bikinis and it was 80 degrees that last day for skiing. I understand it the seasonal snowfall record is 800 inches at Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. Now in my life I have health problems and not well off financially to anything. My skiing at the above mentioned places for me is a distant memory.
Thanks! I wish we were! I just told my wife I wish we were up there for a week right now. We just came down from the San Bernardino Mountains where we did a run with a Jeep club. It snowed a little bit, but nothing like what they’re getting now. It’s been a long time since we’ve had blizzard conditions in the local mountains. Crazy! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Mammoth local here. Looks like you were staying near Little Eagle. Great video. You've done a wonderful job filming various scenes around town. Great editing and music too. Consider me "subscribed."
We love your town! We only make it up there a couple times a year, but it’s always a lot of fun. I really wanted to portray the Mammoth we love, so your comment is much appreciated! Thank you!
hey sir.. how are you.. I wanted to ask how is it living there year around.. cost of living?? is it more/less expensive than Tahoe? have you experienced both? thank you in advance.. in the near future I would like to spend half the year or so in the mointains.
@@booniedavillier504 I don't know how expensive it is related to Tahoe. I can tell you currently (Jan. 2023) gas is $5.45/gallon, and we pay nearly 10% tax at the grocery store, thanks to the corruption of town council who seem to have made poor choices for decades. All that aside, it is amazing living in God's country. Winter is our bread and butter time. We have shoulder seasons where income dwindles for many workers. If you don't have a steady job, you'll need to save money for the shoulder seasons. Locals love the quiet of the shoulder season. Busy seasons bring tourists, which helps our economy, but also creates more chaos at times. Still, it's wonderful living in the mountains being in God's creation!
I LOVE to plow snow, I just wish NW MT got more snow. This is all good for the snowpack for the southwest. Hope it will equalize some of the water shortage?
I just assume the only folks that live at mammoth are those who work at the ski lodges. I wonder if normal folks live up around that area that works doing other stuff besides clearing roads and sky coaches among other typical winter jobs
Yeah there’s no industry there that I’m aware of. So if you don’t work for the ski resort, snow removal, etc., then you probably work at retail or restaurants. Obviously a lot of people own homes there as a 2nd (or 3rd) home. Also so many Airbnb, VRBO…
Sure, there are people here in Mammoth working other jobs than at the ski lodges. There are Pastors, teachers, doctors, newspaper reporters, restaurants and retail, vets, forest service workers, firemen, police, hospital workers, musicians etc., just like anywhere else. We even have sketchy politicians in our local government.
