Incorrect, the game marked down that instance as a Pikmin casualty, therefore it counted as it killed a Pikmin. If an enemy were to shake a Pikmin off into a pit or body of water, that would definitely count as it directly killed it. You want to know what does not classify as a Pikmin casualty? A Dweevil exploding a Bomb Rock near a Pikmin.
keyword: directly. you are correct about the dweevil part, since the bomb rock is not technically part of itself (unless there is canon text that proves this), howEVER... following this logic, that would mean that the mamuta did not kill any pikmin, since as it did shake the pikmin off, had there not been any water, no harm would be caused. and since the water that IS there isn't part of the mamuta, like how the bomb rock isn't part of the dweevil, the death did not count. there simply happened to be a hazard that killed the pikmin when it was shaken off. you could argue about the snootwhacker, which uses shoving pikmin away as an offence, which COULD be regarded as shaking off, but for a pikmin to be shaken off, it needs to be clung to an enemy. and everybody knows you can't cling to a snootwhacker if you don't tip it over first. also, you could definitely say that the mamuta INDIRECTLY killed the pikmin, but I don't think it counts as directly. it's the same idea as a bulborb shaking a pikmin off and said pikmin dying from a fire hazard, just in this case where a mamuta shakes off a pikmin and said pikmin dying from a water hazard, as shown in the video.
@@Kunpengopterus What about enemies like Puffy Blowhog and Waddlepus? Their only way of killing Pikmin is blowing air and bubbles respectively and if there were a pit, there's definitely a way for them to kill Pikmin. Also, shaking off Pikmin is certainly a way of attacking. That's definitely directly killing Pikmin.
@@theslship puffy blowhogs and waddlepuses can shake off pikmin and kill them indirectly, but unless they're using their bubbles or their breath used *specifically* to push pikmin off of ledges, its not direct. Shaking pikmin off is a means of getting pikmin off of an enemy that it has clung to, not killing them. If things like a pit or water or fire or whatever happens to be in the way, that specific hazard kills the pikmin, not the enemy. but things like being blown off a ledge by a blowhog would be an interaction between both the enemy and the hazard, since the attack does not kill directly but is MEANT to kill the pikmin by pushing them towards the ledge. but this does mean that you could classify pikmin being shaken off by a titan blowhog as an interaction as well, since that's *intended* to happen on that one sublevel in Cave For A King. The mamuta shaking off pikmin is NOT an attack, since the game doesn't intend for the mamuta to be able to shake pikmin into any hazards in the first place. it is not an interaction, and the death is cause of the hazard (unless the game states otherwise)
