After first recounting an interesting adventure in the forests around the Nilgiris (blue mountains) in vivid detail, Kenneth Anderson describes his hunt for the man-eating tiger of the same region, possibly undertaken sometime in the 1940s. In typical Anderson fashion, the story of the man-eater of Segur is peppered with descriptions of the local wildlife, the geography of the beautiful surroundings, and details of the lives of native tribes that inhabit the forests of this region. This is one of Kenneth Anderson's officially recorded man-eater kills.

Excellent, narration . This made for a enjoyable way to spend an cold evening. May I suggest the book Hunters of Man by Capt. John Brandt. This book covers both man eaters and man killers, I found this book most excellent. Thank, you for sharing these spine tingling stories.

Excellent ! I really look forward to these maneater stories. Kenneth was a true hero . What amazes me is the endurance that ANDERSON and CORBETT had. Fighting the elements high in a tree soaking wet and half frozen. Then hiking and climbing hills for 10 or 20 miles . Not to mention the many other deadly animals in the jungle besides the man eater. Throw in the bouts of malaria . And the mental stress of using yourself as human bait for days on end hiking in the jungle. GREAT NARRATION ! THANK YOU !!!!

I’ve had to wait a few days to listen to this. Just to make sure that I can be alone, have my coffee, and get comfortable. Close my eyes and get fully enveloped into the story. Thank you for these great narrations sir. They really are a treat. The sound effects are an added delight.

Finally finished hearing the complete story. I go off to sleep each time when we reach the part talking about the remnants of the woman who was killed. I also enjoyed the additional sound effects. Keep up the brilliant work. Many good wishes Apratim.

I loved the part where they go after the sloth bear. It's good that the she-bear escaped unharmed. They can look all clumsy but can be extremely dangerous, to say nothing of its much bigger cousins the brown or the grizzly bear. I'm usually not queasy but the description of those men eating the bear's vomit made me wince.

Another superb story, I felt the sound effects were a nice touch. 35 years ago I spent several weeks in northern India and I am greatly enjoying traveling back there by means of your narrations. I agree with other posters, your videos are eagerly awaited.

There is a sense of wild abandon almost careless streak in Anderson's pursuits and it comes across in his writings...... Corbett was most meticulous and extremely careful.

Apni pratikriya jatane ke liye dhanyavaad. Video mein tasveer nahi hone ka kaaran ye hai ki mera yeh maanna hai ki audiobooks or audiostory mein unki jagah nahi banti hai. Apni kalpana ka istemal karen. Jaise pustak padhte vakt karte hain. Aur agar tasveer dekhni hi hai kisi cheez ki, to aapke paas google miyan hain. Aap dekh sakte hain. Vakya or subtitle pehle se hi auto-generated hain. Aap caption pe click karke unhe padh sakte hain, narration ke saath.

Yeah its tough for a non-native Tamil speaker to get the pronunciation right. In my defense, the way I said those names is exactly how the author spelled them in the text.

Its an audio story. It literally says that in the title. Yes, RU-vid allows audio videos on its platform. There are hundreds of audio based channels. Greatest audiobooks has a selection of audio readings with a still image.

Selva is spanish for jungle or forest. The name is an homage to Jim Corbett's book 'Jungle Lore'. And I'm not anyone important so I don't think it matters but your curioisty in appreciated. Thanks for the comment Wasim!

Just don’t understand how smart animals can be until they are under stress……the Tigris needed only to bound up a fork of a smaller tree 5 or 6 feet off the ground and wait. Yep the dogs may have stayed for a while but within a period of time they would have lost interest and moved on. Kinda wonder what set that event in motion. Killing of pups or kittens….or just large predators that could not suffer each other’s presence.

Curious how K Anderson personnel experience never heard of stories where by tigers attacked groups when hunting..In J Corbett in his recalling of victims ,,tiger charged group and in one case their were two sisters ,when tiger took one ? Ect Ect.

Firstly I'd like to acknowledge the excellent narrative. My comment actually concerns the term man eater, this is but crude sensationalism. Large predators do not think of humans as a tasty meal. It's a man-made environment that is the cause for these animal attacks. To the animal, man is a slow easy catch that posses no threat, a natural assurance for survival. Consuming meat is their purpose on this planet, we share. We who consume far greater amounts of animal meat. If you don't want to be eaten give them their space. Venturing into their territory is a risk taken by choice.

Anderson talks about animals who have turned to man-eating becoming cowardly and only attacking vulnerable and solo humans. I'm a little surprised because he obviously must have heard about the Tsavo Lions or even the Rudraprayag Leopard closer to his home. Those animals attacked and carried away people despite them being in relative safety of numbers.

It’s extremely hard to believe that that pack of dogs killed that tiger, I know that many probably could I do t doubt that but a tiger could easily hop up a tree and wait for the dogs to get bored and leave or on a rock or anything a tiger could climb

Damn fools hunting a bear 🐻 in a cave with bee nests all over! Serves them right getting stung many times. As Anderson stated, that bear was justified in defending her young. Good that she escaped the vengeful fools.

This story was slightly unnerving. Tigers are smart so this is just as believable as other tales of big cats turning to hunting man. There's something deeply unsettling about picturing an animal reducing a human being to fragments of skin and bones. And yet, they are not doing anything unnatural. It's logical for them as flesh eaters to turn to killing humans when their normal food supply is cut 📴 or when they have been incapacitated by man himself.
