Big anticlimax. Why is it when we are on the cusp of something good we bottle it.? Three very soft goals badly defended and keeper should have saved at least one . Pope needs come in if he's fit . Only standouts were Bruno and Hall.😢
Lack of squad depth showing us up there. 5 or 6 of that team are top quality. The others aren't quite good enough. Either not there yet like Anderson or end of career like Trips. Hope we buy well this Summer.
I can't say if we had that penalty we would have won, or even drawn because nobody knows how Man Utd would have reacted to going a goal behind. But the fact that VAR teams get these decisions wrong, week in and week out, yes sometimes in our favour and sometimes against us, is just plain wrong. If you're 4-0 up and don't get a penalty it might not be the end of the world. But last night was a huge game for both teams and mistakes like this should not be happening. The first step is to stop using refs within the VAR team, too many mates working together for me. They should be two totally independent bodies. There should also be a VAR report after every game explaining every major decision. What did they see in that tackle, how did they see it and which rule did they use to support their decision?
The fact is, we are not as good as many of our deluded fans think we are. Too many Championship players in the squad, with a manager who has fallen short, and once again has shown that he is not the man to take us to the next step. Hopefully he will be England manager by th3 end of the summer. As for Isai and Bruno, at least one of the will leave, they both need CL football, not the Mickey Mouse Conference cup.
