As much as I would want him to join the club, we shouldn't have someone who's heart isn't set on us. He's a good player, but we will be lamenting because of player power. The way he and his agent are moving are red flags.

I don’t understand your question about player power in this situation? He has a contract with a year left. He can just stay for that year as is his right. He doesn’t need to go on strike.

He might be a free agent next summer, but Lille will still get compensation out of it with him being under 23. They take into account previous offers too, so Lille will still get a decent fee next summer if Yoro stands his ground, but they won't get any higher than we've offered.

Players under contract need to agree to any change to that contract. They cannot be forced to leave if they do not agree to it. A club can make life uncomfortable, just as a player who wants to leave can make things uncomfortable, but any transfer involves ageement from both clubs and the player. Any of the three can say no.

My guess is that united have a deal with De ligt & are using that deal as a reference for other center backs. Effectively Brainthwaite is worth 10mil or so more than De ligt & yoro is worth samr money but more potential upside so is preferred over De ligt

Player has the power here because he can refuse to sign the contract. Transfers are a transfer of the player... but also the contract. Lille can transfer him and collect the 50m but United won't do that unless there is language in the transfer agreement that Yoro signs a new 5 year deal.
