People also tend to forgot Ronaldo’s new born baby died!!! That severely dented his performances in his final year at Utd you could tell he was struggling mentally in that period but no one wants to give Him grace for playing for the club in such a horrible time in his personal life
They totally didn't care about it and said he lied about his new born daughter's sickness during pre season. Liverpool and Arsenal gave more support to Ronaldo during that hard time more than United.
Ah here we go again, Ronaldo and his fangirls thinking that everything and everybody is against him. Grow tf up. Guy was 36 and supposed to be a role model but he had petulant whines on the pitch, whining at team mates, slapping fans phones out of their hands, walking out on his team after they was WINNING because he felt like he was more important than he was, refusing to play, did his own pre season and came back and expected game time because of his name in football and whenever we lost he'd never clap the fans he'd just walk down to the tunnel instead and never do interviews. Ronaldo was toxic and his fangirls will always find any excuses for his petulant diva-ish attitude. Guy was rightfully benched for club and country.
@@DboyRed SPOT ON. And you didn't even mention his diva interview with renowned snake and arsenal supporter, Piers Morgan. Only his fanboys love him. Everybody else has seen what we can see.
Some disrespectful comments from a bunch of know-it-alls on this. Mike Phelan comes across as a thoughtful, respectful and actually pretty perceptive guy, which makes sense given his success.
@@enradso1the guy’s a freelance coach / consultant. Normal to promote that through a range of activities including branding of stuff. I’m guessing you’ve never run a business.
Ronaldo lost one of the twin babies (on the day they were born) and the other baby got sick...for a period of time he was not well and he needed more understanding.
@@noone6953 I don't think he came back for the team. I think Ronaldo wanted to win a premier league again as his last dance and when that was not happening, he exposed his dark side.
Let’s not forget this tho Ronaldo came back and he carried us and then got treated like absolute shit ten Haag the disrespect he gave Ronaldo was insane amazing first season and benches him for the second season on paper we had one of the best squads it’s embarrassing
@@alexvaldez7050 that means nothing, most of the best managers weren’t the best players. Messi became the best ever under guardiola who was not a top player in his own right. Cristiano was also not in his prime when he came back to united, so he didn’t really have the right to be questioning the managers authority
I'm watching this now, 1 day before the Euro final. Ronaldo unfortunately did not score, but Portugal were not quite playing at their best. Most of us football fans were upset to see they never made it the semi finals after losing on penaltys. Majority players probably get to play 2/3 tournaments of euros & world cups. Ronaldo played his 6th one. That alone is a unbelievable achievement to what his done in football. He has generations of fans from all ages.
Mark my words Anyone that disrespects Cristiano knows nothing about football or they are intentionally acting stupid. He was, he is and he will be the most disciplined player that ever kicked the ball and I mean by far.
Tbh manchester united has destroyed dozens of players in the last 14 years like di maria , lukaku, pogba , sancho and i can name a dozen more And after this all they have done is blaming the players 😂😂 it doesn't even make any sense The only thing manchester united management does is blame shifting and with this type of attitude you cant win anything 💯 Realize your mistakes , admit them and make changes in the management 💯
People tend to forget what Cristiano Ronaldo had done over the years. This guy ETH comes in and says positive things about Ronald and doesn’t really do into actions what he says and in reality really doesn’t respect Ronaldo. It affected Ronaldo. It affected everything. And new comer fans coming in saying this and that as if they were right, but no they, are not. Suddenly everyone was hating on him hard. Everyone was riding the Ronaldo Blame Bus. Even club legends. For some reason put the blame on him. I don’t even know why. ETH did all that.
He tried to leave the club behind their backs whilst on compassionate leave. Even fell out with Jorge Mendes, his absolute PR guru, as well over it. Then he underperformed when he came back and didn't start every game. Wtf was Ten Hag supposed to do? Keep playing him? Ten Hags been abused left right and centre by Ronaldo fanboys in the aftermath of his selfish behaviour on top of all the pressure of managing United already. Anyone give a shit about his wellbeing?
@@SW-fn7clAs I always said. Ronaldo as a huge Ego! He came back. He trained hard. He worked hard. And don’t tell me he doesn’t. How can he perform if ETH can’t manage him well he’s old. He’s just months left in his contract and ETH has no striker. He says things about Ronaldon in the press. Positive ones. And he can’t even use Ronaldo. It’s not just being a Ronaldo Fan. I’m a United fan as well. Since Ronaldo came back all of you said it’s not a good thing. Why’s he back. He was brought back because United need something to show that they can still attract players. Top quality players. During Ole’s time was hard. We’re in a Pandemic. And that was the only time United could win the league. The only time. Cause there are no fans in the stand. Less pressure. We got into 3rd. It was good but not good enough. The following season came Ronaldo Varane. Just for short term. Ole was I think an experiment. It wasn’t doing really good. Then the team wasn’t doin really good as well. Way before Ronaldo came back. Ronaldo came back and he was even our top scorer. Ole was sacked, I don’t know for some reason why they chose Ragnick. Wemre 6th that season. All of the team is under performing. Even until now. And for some reason Ronaldo was pin pointed by everyone. I don’t know why. The thing with te interview was unnecessary but at least we all know the real condition of the club behind the scenes. And English Cup is not a major trophy. Yeah! We knocked oud Liverpool, but we’re lucky enough to survive Coventry. And TBH. That was an inch of an Offside. And that’s thanks to VAR. Injuries and performance was affected because there is really no good man management. No good transfers. Why would you buy a under performing midfielder, Mount, buy a mess of a Goalkeeper, Onana, and an experiment of a striker, Rasmus. And rbring in Evans and loaned in Amarabat and nit use him properly. I don’t know how he manages the team but tbh, without Rashford and Martinez’s form in his 1st season, we wouldn’t be even be 3rd that time. Martinez got injured because he was playing every minute the moment he came to United. He was injured by thr end of his 1st season and his replacement for that is Evans. Now that Rashford’s form has gone, and I don’t know why. The team is a mess. Everything was in shambles. Chelsea even overtook. They are playing for 10th the entire season while we are playing for 6th. But in the end we came down 8th and they came up 6th. We are lucky enough to win the FA Cup that’s why we are in the Europa League. That game was nice. They are playing to survive. And still blame Ronaldo and nit look at the real picture. But i always said to myself. Who would replace ETH. Noone would like to manage United. Ancelotti, Pep, even Unai Emery would not manage this team. Maybe this 3rd time is gonna be his year. I hope. And you still think that we don’t give ETH a chance. We criticize because what we are seeing is not good, yeah sometimes there ist but it really wasn’t good enough. It’s all based on truth. Not false ones. I watched United and it wasn’t really pleasant to look at. And he keeps on saying he is playing a beautiful game. Maybe he’s playing a computer game or something. I don’t know. But he needs to deliver this season. A consistent one. We don’t need to to win the league. A semi or finals in the FA Cup, and a consistent 3rd or 2nd, not a 20 gap point but at least 10. A consistent season. That’s what we are all asking for. We waited for a decade, we can wait again. Before SAF we’ve waited for so long, We can wait again. That’s how we are as fans.
@janrodneysantos9894 bloody hell mate that was a long read 😅 I'm a united fan as well, and you're right the last couple of years has been poor, and I don't know if Ten Hag is the man, but Ronaldo was another signing that was a mistake, even Ole said the same thing. It was a symptom of how brainless our transfer policy is. In that summer United needed defenders and midfielders. The front 4 was actually operating very well. Bruno was banging the goals in and creating. Greenwood and Rashford were chipping in and giving width, and Cavani was playing excellently as a target man and linking up with the other 3 and presssing high up the pitch to win the ball back. The attack was functioning well! The mid and defence areas were the issues. The club begged Cavani to stay on the January, then at the last second of August signed Ronaldo and told Cavani he was now surplus to requirements. What an absolute joke. And all that did was unbalance the whole attack and we suffered for it. I said at the time of his signing that he'll score some goals(less than Bruno the previous season though) it will ruin our attack and it will all end in tears as the clubs a shitshow and he is one of the best players of all time, but also a petulant child. I'm not a genius it was just obviously going to happen. If anything Ten Hag was too respectful towards him. If United won the League Cup and FA Cup beating City and Liverpool in the process with Ronaldo in the team, the fanboys tunes would be very different.
@@SW-fn7cl my point is. Blaming him is not the correct thing. He is a club legend. And it’s ruin now. Because of his superstar status he is the main focus, turning him into the villain. And everybody didn’t see it that way. He was not a good signing but he is a good signing. It’s both good and bad. You have to think of everything. Everyone was so happy he came back until ETH threw him out. Then suddenly ETH is a genius. Manchester United needed him. To show force. Heck ETH couldn’t sign Gakpo. He wanted him so much Gakpo ended up with Klopp. United has no pull from the best young players because of the team’s inconsistency and the club’s instability. That’s why we need short term players to develop the team to be consistent so that we can show everyone that we are still a force to be reckon with. Everyone thinks that when Ronaldo came he’s gonna be the solution or he’s gonna be the issue. Then it became the latter. Everyone started hating on him. Everyone rode the bus. Even club legend specially Neville. It affected his performance and confidence and more. He never wanted that to happen. He was professional about everything. And we all know that. All the fingers was on him. It’s just because of his superstar status. Up until now in the Euros. As if Ronaldo doesn’t try and doesn’t give 100%. Everyone’s just using him to get attention or views or likes in the social media. Even pundits. Nobody cares of the things he has done.
My idol Ronaldo, not because he played well, but because he grilled himself to be on the top. He still inspires me, I am 38, following him and I am leading a healthy life😊
He literally was protecting the Glazer's refusing to call them out. We got worse oth times he became assistant manager. Once under Fergie when our level dropped in 2010 and then again with Ole.
@@DjsonleyYou know nothing.. Phelan was assistant manager from 08 to 2013.. 3 league titles, the two they didn’t win were by one point and GD, Champions League win, 3 Champions League finals, 2 league cups, club World Cup.. One of United’s most successful periods in history ffs. In Ole’s two full seasons as manager, with Phelan as assistant they finished 3rd and 2nd in the league and reached multiple quarter finals, semi finals and finals.. Best period post Fergie until Ten Hag.
From a distance I think manchester united doesn't need a manager, they should just let the reporters manage. They should just fire all of the managers and hire reporters to run the team because that's what the owners are doing. It's not a challenge. The people of england are mentally challenged. The reporters are mentally challenged. They signed him because the reporters are dumb and they needed someone to help the easiest stories possible. That's exactly what happened. Every weeks cover story "Is this the End of Ronaldo?" They just had to change the date and hit print. That's the problem with all sports. They don't want team managers. They want fantasy sports people and reporters managing sports.
Ronaldo returning to Manchester United was euphoria for us at the time but in reality we never needed him. We should have addressed the midfield with McTominay and Fred stinking up every game. While he did finish 3rd in the golden boot race, impressive for a 37 year old mind you, we went on to suffer our worst ever season. While I do acknowledge Ronaldo should have never returned to Manchester United, I don't blame him for Ole's downfall when there were multiple factors on why Ole got sacked in the end.
Yeah right you don’t need goals ! Just people running back and fourth and pressing and passing and dribbling and training hard ! But putting in the back of the net, who needs that ?😂
@@Leo-Bassment We had Greenwood, Martial, Cavani, in form Bruno Fernandes and Rashford at the time and they were scoring goals. All I said Ronaldo came back at the wrong time and Ole should have addressed the midfield that wasn't good enough for the Premier League title charge. The attack was never the problem, the midfield was the problem and still is today.
If the whole squad followed Ronaldo's footsteps in training, Utd would be a totally different squad now. ten Hag is too inexperienced to understand that and now we are seeing the 3rd season of dreadful football again!
ETH is good at playing blame game and never really knows how to manage big players! He’s got problems with players who’ve never had problems with other coaches they’ve played with. Not just one player had problems with ETH and that speaks for itself :)
In brief, CR7's standard was ways ahead of MUFC. The club and the people couldn't match with it. When it comes to action, they decided to sacrifice the top professional to make the group works, it is fine, but this is not the Red Devils that the manager & players robotically say: "we give everything to fight"
The title and image used for this video is just clickbait lol trying to make it seem like he said what’s on the picture regarding his recent situation at Man United is beyond low. The phrase used on the image was used to describe a young Cristiano entering United for the first time. …..anything for clicks tho 👎
@@markflynn2669historically Man U was a pejorative term for United, younger people don’t really know about it so it doesn’t hold up anymore. But old heads still remember when it was an insult.
At Man United, nobody cares if they win or lose at this point, the inconsistency is wild. Since the major big names left this new generation is finito. They get paid at the end of every week for existing

#2 in the league then added what looked like our best transfer window in decades of one of the best young talents in the world of Sancho, one of the best defenders in the world in Varane and still close to his prime club legend Ronaldo to lead the line - what could go wrong? 20/20 hindsight what a disaster that was. CR7 is probably my second favorite player of all time and United is my team so it hurt me to my core to watch this unfold but both sides were wrong here! Ronaldo had a family tragedy that led to him not participating in preseason and he was not sharp or match fit but he still expected to start and play every minute. Despite that ETH knew the value in what he had and still tried to work him in but good grief he was missing sitters and killing us! Ronaldo attitude was terrible - so how are you supposed to coach up Rashford, Sancho, Martial etc when one of the best players of all time is sulking around, second guessing the coach and not working the system? Also don't forget he wanted to leave the minute we didn't qualify for Champions League and we couldn't get anyone to agree to sign him. Also remember that Ole said he was difficult to work with too - you can see he's hard to be around with Portugal as well just watch the games. Also how is "not even a coach" Ragnick doing right now? All that being said, he is STILL a great player and gives 100% on the pitch and in training. We should have never signed him back in the first place.
For Ole, it was really out of his league. It was COVID. For me he was an experiment. He wanted Ronaldo. On his final days as a manager, everything went sour. Ronaldo was his performer, was his star player before that. Suddenly everything dropped. Ole is not ready to manage a very huge club like Manchester United with players with huge egos. It’s a different surrounding from Malmo and a very different League from Sweden. I don’t know why they tend to put blame on Ronaldo, from the higher ups to the players. They all failed. If Ole went on ETH on Ronaldo then he would have been the Hero. Ronaldo became the escape goat of the Club’s failure. That’s why they hated him so much for telling the truth during that Interview. Machester United got Ronaldo for 2 years. They needed to bring up the face of Manchester United. They got him. They needed someone to managed that and Manchester United did’t get one. Conte was waiting for that call up. They didn’t made it. Conte went to Tottenham then after that they fired Ole and replaced with whom? A sporting director to manage the games. How on earth would you survive. That’s the reality. ETH rode that Ronaldo blame Bus and made him a Hero. But it wasn’t really Ronaldo who was the issue. Ronaldo is there for only 2 years. In his 1st year he was our top scorer. ETH came he threw Ronaldo of the Bus and replaced him with what? Weghorst? Nothing! Rashford saved ETH’s 1st season in charge. Because of Rashford’s form we came into 3rd place. Then suddenly ETH’s a genius. When Rashford’s form ran out and ETH has noone to put the blame on, what happened. Everything fumbled. The FA cup was his luck again. His savior. And now he’s a genius again. Everyone is starting to threw this guy out then suddenly because Man City can’t produce, suddenly he’s a genius again. It seems to me ETH’s form of management is based on luck. That’s why next season has to be solid. It has to be. He’s given again another chance. And if it fails, then it’s not Ronaldo, it’s him!
@@janrodneysantos9894 bro you gonna act like Ronaldo has NO blame here? Like walking out on your team multiple times during games is ok? Yes I agree with most of what he told Piers about the club and I hope Ineos can fix this but don't act like he's some saint here. Also you do realize Ralf Ragnick has been a very successful coach for a lot more of his career than he has been a sporting director?
@@rwalker0130 egos are egos! I hate players for that. And Ronaldo has a caery huge one. The team has been very poor before that. And Ronaldo has been wanting to stay at top, always. That’s why playing in the Champions League is very important to him. That’s has been the goal ever since. And knowing that he won’t be playing and noone’s buying him. He stayed. Stayed very professional as usual. Trained very hard. Worked very hard. ETH came. Saying positives. Every interview. But the actions are very opposite. And FYI. The team has been very poor before Ole even before Ronaldo. He was brought in to help the face of the club, to motivate and improve the players, not just the team but the club as well. And it’s only gor 2 years. The most 3. So you can’t really blame him. Yeah! He has faults and mistakes. But you can’t ever do that to a Club Legend. ETH did all that. Damaged that. For 6 months. It affected everything. And as for Ragnick. He was way better as a Sporting Director than a manager. I’m not saying he’s not a good manager but he’s not really fit for it. He was known for he’s work at Dortmund 1st as a manager, for a short sting then move to the Sporting Director Role and there he did very well. He’s no Jurgen Klopp, Pep or even Unai Emery. These managers are successful. They are not Sporting Directors, but managers. There’s a huge difference between the 2. Both have different duties and both are very important.
@@janrodneysantos9894 jeez man stop acting like I or most people are blaming Ronaldo for all our problems ffs. Yeah, some dummies do that but any smart person knows that is not true. He was a part of the problem though people need to stop acting like he was a saint
Yep yep Glazers can’t be blame really. When you’re at the highest peak, then all sorts of components, managers players coaches etc just changed, you can’t sustain it all no matter how much money you throw. People always says they dont invest as much so and so buying wrong players, though it’s the very same fans and pundits who praised the player they bought till all tits went up. Even Pep struggled for few years before he got what he wanted even that cost billions. United they stick with someone longer.
So who would be the best? No other player has played in the top leagues against top opposition for that long and beaten all the major records in the history of the sport while at that level. You can even look internationally and in the 58 years prior to Ronaldo, Portugal had only qualified for the Euro 3x and the WC 2x. They have qualified and been contenders ever since he joined.

I know what CR7 achieved during his first stint at Man Utd was special but we all need to remember that he did do plenty wrong as well and Phelan chose to highlight only the positives. The guy was obsessed with step overs and not crossing the ball to Van Nistleroy.
@@SevenPikachu Numbers? Pre knee injury that would come back time and time again, Ronaldo had 44 goals in 47 apps at Cruzeiro, 54 goals in 57 apps at PSV, 47 goals in 49 apps at Barcelona. All before his 21st birthday. Cristiano was a winger and therefore didn't do much scoring at Lisbon and it took him a few at United to get going in a more forward role. It's not just numbers however, Prime Ronaldo was unplayable. Ronaldo played in Italy's golden era of football. The defenders were some of the best to ever play. Maldini, Nesta, Cannovaro, Thuram, etc. He regularly embarrassed them. Straight up destroyed them. No high lines and playing out from the back. He's called Il Fenomeno for a reason, and anyone old enough to have watched 90s football and Ronaldo in his prime will say roughly the same, as my whole generation fell in love with the Nike adverts with Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, etc with smiles on their faces. It's nostalgia, it's against the numbers, but then again views are subjective so you're just as right since Cristiano won five champions league titles with two clubs, five ballon d'ors. Just don't dismiss Ronaldo due to numbers. Dude pre-injuries was a machine and likely without knee problems would have continued with the insanity of 44/47, 54/57 and 47/49 goals/games.
I assume he doesn’t want that kind of life. These right-hands usually dip and take a managers role once they feel ready. Mick hasn’t moved for 20+ year, probably more than capable, just doesn’t want it
I heard the lockerroom was bullying ronaldo because he had pink or red toenails and because he had a picture of badr hari in a speedo hanging in his locker. Teammates were afraid to take a shower with him. That's weird af 👀
He is entertaining to listen to, but his rose-tinted glasses are tainting the truth of the second Ronaldo era. He said that things didn’t work out for CR7 and he left. There was an awful lot more to that situation, particularly the way in which Ronaldo orchestrated his exit. Totally disrespectful.

Ronaldo chose to leave United, not once but twice. I'm a United fan not a fan of a player who plays somewhere else. If Ronaldo had high standards, why did he go play in Saudi? He wanted to leave because the coach was not going to take his ego. In the end he's ego was too big. He still thought he was great at 36. At his age, he expects the team to play for him. Not a team player, Ronaldo only cares about Ronaldo.

@@crem44 Ronaldo did his interview because he knew they will terminate his contract. If he loved the club so much he would not have left the club early in the season and leave them short of a striker. Criticizing the club is what most United fans was doing at the time, most fans agreed what he said about the club. He also said he would not go to Saudi because he wanted to play at the highest level in the interview, little knowing that no club was going to take a drama queen and pay him half a million pounds a week because they knew he was not as good as what he thought he was.
