idk, i really appreciate devs saying "we think this thing we sold u was poorly designed in hindsight, we're gonna try to make it more interesting" instead of just silently moving on to sell u another thing. plus that would leave the game bloated w/a bunch of pets they saw as boring u can disagree w/the changes but at least they prioritize the game being fun over milking as many dollars as possible short-term

@@jythmivena6617 Isaac changed in fits and Bursts (years between updates) and the way it worked made the game unplayable. I would argue SAP expanding its content is different

@@depalodor not technically. but NLs main reason for stopping Isaac was that due to the sheer amount of items (most of which were bad or useless) it became harder and harder to have a enjoyable run.

@@loganzoromski6126 I think I can agree with that. After reading your comment I immediately booted up SAP for this new weekly and after going through the roster for it, I can see why. The goldfish was fun in that you could have a goofy little interaction to make animals cheaper. Now, it just sits there accumulating gold and being completely uninteractive. The alpaca got nerfed for some unknown reason despite it being just plain fun and not really overpowered when you magically shat out level two tier 6's consistently. Cat food builds in my opinion were in that same vein where you could hope and pray it got you out of a jam if you survived long enough, and even then, wouldn't really save you from unluck or your poor decisions. Now, it's just outright bad with one trigger.

icons were fucked since star pack when lots of animals had weird styles that didn't mesh with the old ones. just came back to the game and i like that there's now a standard consistent style they settled on for all pets moving forward.

its not even an competitive game, having it kinda imbalanced is fine because people invested in the game will impose challenges or find different strategies beyond easy metas to get 10 pieces and badges so the balancing is kinda weird

I think they could balance much better by just making stat changes to the outlier pets instead of ability changes, and doing that more often than every 3 months.

it's a casino battler.. some of the pets should be overpowered relative to others. like how rare tcg cards are better than commons. u want to get lucky and get rares

tbh, i feel like the devs were trying to make a meta with a lower power level across the board, where you don't e.g. see at least one 50/50 on every team after turn 13 and if they did it well, then once people get used to the changes, the previously weak pets will be fun to use, since they no longer have to compete with things like a bison or a heavily-scaled tier 1 pet

They literally did everything you asked. They redid owl and worm to work with jerboa, added a new synergy with perks and also introduced new synergies with toys. They moved porcupine down to tier 3 and it's much better now. They changed the rhino to work on faint so it's ability actually does something and made it so that hedgehogs and blowfish can win in the late game with the wolverine. They made the frigatebird useful as an anti bat instead of a dogshit scaler. Sure maybe one or two overbearingly strong pets got tweaks but they're still really good overall. Unless there's other "fun pets" that got utterly butchered that I didn't know about, all your points were addressed. Especially once you consider that nerfing OP units helps weaker units be useful.

They definitely need to format their patch notes page better like how dota does it. Still a lot to read but their patch note format is really unpleasant

it literally reworked like every pet in the puppy pack, the lvl 2 level up was removed because they offer you 2 pets on level up now
