A lot of people have been asking me how I poof up my hair like Mana's.
Although I have been writing a lot of explanations on how to do it, I think it is easiest to watch and learn from a video.
In no way is this tutorial professional or the ONLY method to go about making your hair like Mana's. However, this is what works best for me. I know I am not perfect, but I try to do the best I can. :)
I hope this gives people who want to learn an idea of how to tease hair like Mana's Moi dix Mois style.
The only product I use is V05 hairspray. Everything else is just a comb, brush, and blow dryer.
The process of doing this can take several hours, especially if you are new to styling your hair in this way. Don't give up hope if you can't do it in your first try! It takes a lot of patience and effort.

Very nice! I used to do Mana cosplay back when I was 17(25 now omg I feel old). Although a fact so many people fail to realize, half the time you see Mana's hair and think "omg how did he do that?!", it's a hairpiece. He is notorious for fake hair, so don't rule that option out if your hair isn't thick enough or it's too curly... BTW awesome cosplay!!

Yes, 5-6 hours with your hair like that is definitely possible! I went to a convention with my hair up like that and it stayed up the entire day.(^^)

I started cracking up when you turned the hairdryer on for some reason...but you did an amazing job. I wish I had the patience to style my hair, but I am too lazy and always leave it straight. haha you were so dramatic looking when you whipped out your mini mirror to check the back. I love it! OMG O.O That was just amazing! I can't believe the only product you had to use was hairspray. I've always wanted to try this style of Mana's, but never bothered, figuring he probably used a dozen magical Japanese hair products to get his hair that huge and gravity-defying. You've just changed all of that for me - thanks!

oh, I must say that was very nicely done :) Seen alot of other uploaded videos with people who are trying to learn others how to style your hair as Mana's. And the result isn't very good. My hopes weren't very high (excuse me if I sound like I'm better than anyone or something, that's not my intention either) when I clicked this video, but as stated above, I'm very fascinated that you can re-create it as good as you actually do, kudos to you :D

I honestly couldn't tell you, because I have no idea. ): I've gone to a hair dresser before and asked for Mana style hair, but I've only had bad experiences with it. If your uncle can do it, then thats great! My guess is that it might take about an hour to get it done, as it only takes me an hour or less now days to do my hair this way (after having lots of experience with it).

which is why you go through careful procedures when washing your hair and taking all the teasing out. I've been doing this for a while and my hair is still perfectly healthy. ;D

cutting your hair in layers is REALLY helpful. I try to keep my hair in shorter layers but still keep the bottom few layers a little bit longer.

LOL You're right, it can be extremely damaging to your hair. There are times when I do it a few days in a row for particular occasions, but if I am doing it a lot in a short period of time I try to make sure I limit myself and after that time period I wont do Mana cosplays involving teasing my hair like this for a long time afterwards (at least a month or two). So far its worked and my hair is extremely healthy. :D

It doesn't particularly matter, but I personally find that V05 holds a lot better than the yellow freeze stuff (just from experience because yellow freeze has a tenancy to become sticky and disgusting). V05 is also preferred amongst a lot of jrock bands, which is why I started using it in the first place. XD

omfg, really good! i cant really use lot of hairspray like how you do though (it makes my hair go unstraught so fast, and looks like a pouffy fluffy sheepy mess lol) i think i will try a bit of your tech so i can get my hair to stand up REALLY tall too (cuz i just tease it for a little volume ha ha :3 )

Thanks!! Actually his hair is a couple inches shorter than mine, but he uses extensions. I didn't really think extensions were needed for this video as it was more about poofing it up than anything else. XD Thats a shame your hair couldn't take the teasing though. I don't do it so much anymore these days myself. :x

yes, definitely straighten it first. hmmm, from my experience gel doesn't work so well. Gel generally weights down hair a lot more than hairspray and so if you used gel I'm not sure how long it would hold. ): Your best bet is to stay with hairspray.(^^)

Yes, you should be able to do it with very long hair. However, it might take a lot more effort. Its ideal to have layered hair for this (^^)

Your vid is really helpful! Good job! ^^ The only thing is, I have very much hair, and very thick hair. My hair just falls bakc down even if I use like 2 whole hairspray.. but I didn't try the blow dryer so maybe, there's hope.. (I don't really have that much hair.. it's just very thick)
