mr big “As you can imagine, the numbers for Los Angeles are staggering. It would take an annual household income of $97,160 just to get the keys to a median-priced rental home in this market. Keep in mind that this kind of income would nearly put you in the top one-fifth of income earners in the country.” this is from LA weekly 4 years ago and the city has only gotten more expensive.. we don’t care hm rent you pay w your 30 roommates lmao 40k in LA is close to nothing
mr big yeah we never said you can’t survive off a low income lmao simply that 6 figures in LA isn’t what it is in other cities.. reading is very useful bro
Annyonomus 777 I was referring to the “higher ups” with an immature comment like that you likely work near the bottom of the barrel, with the peasants.
I like the way that when he was told that it would be over $20,000 for that one car, he had a big smile on his face, like yeah see all the money I saved!
I'm pretty sure the same thing is happening in Texas by the same people at your expense (tax payer) unless of cause you don't pay tax and live off benefits
Answers like that or what's the part of the problem just because there are government official or some kind of manager does not automatically exempt them from doing things they require normal citizens to do
He saves his own life by not paying the 20K or more he owes because if he does pay all those parking fees, he would have died from a heart attack. And who wouldn't?
This guy is absolutely incredible and an excellent example of what happens when managers are unsupervised. He needs to be fired, and the fees added up, adjusted for interest and cut out of his pension.
Wow he had such a beautiful smile when asked that question and didn't lie about it, he should run for some kind of public office, and if he lied then it would be ok.
I was an excavator on the Arco Towers Project in 1968-70. At that time a parking lot existed on the north/west corner of 3rd and Flower. The cost to park there was 0.35 cents per 24 hours.
Bob M if I had that kind of perk, I wouldn’t tell anyone. Especially this “reporter”, make him look like an idiot after he wastes his time doing such an important investigation.
Black Tooth I would never want to live in Los Angeles. The city is broke and has so many problems. You indicated that LA makes so much money that Flores should be left alone to cheat the city out of significant parking fees he did not pay. Perhaps I did not understand. How can you call a report BS if you will not read it? Are their budget reports that indicate that the city is making profits? LA is horribly mismanaged. People like Flores are being paid fat salaries for doing a job that thousands of others would be able to do and be happy with half what he earns.
A Los Angeles city employee who misused his position to get free parking at a downtown lot for years is being slapped with a fine of more than $16,000. The Ethics Commission voted Tuesday to impose the fine on Jose Flores, a parking manager who had improperly kept three vehicles at the city-operated Pershing Square garage without paying. Under city rules, Flores was allowed to keep his personal vehicle at the lot while he was working, but he parked his cars there overnight and on weekends, using his employee keycard to override the payment system.
This is not a privately owned restaurant that throws away a ton of food that it doesn't sell every day. This is a local government which is supposed to be accountable to the citizens. He's a public employee.
New American dictionary says "investigate" means: "To keep quiet about until social outrage passes, then shake hands and laugh about it at the office".
Everybody has some sort of perk at their job that they take advantage of. It may be stealing office supplies or even using the copier for personal use. It irritates me when people act all high and mighty just because someone else has a better perk than they do. Envious and bitter would be the best way to describe those people!
He deserves to pay the city. The government charges a lot because of limited parking in city. And he owned 3+ cars, so all he was doing was stealing money
Beecher Adams I agree he has to pay but the total money this news Report is misleading because a parking spot 8 years ago wasn’t $250. Honestly it’s a perk of the Job.
Darwin Rodas no it’s not. That’s like saying I can eat for free because I work at a restaurant or I can get free gas for my vehicle because I work at a gas station are you really that stupid
What’s the point of being a city parking manager if you can’t get free parking? That’s like being the ceo of six flags and being expected to buy your own tickets to the park.
There’s nothing more offensive then “we’ll investigate” hello the tv investigators did the job for you already! That’s just a big F U to everyone’s face!
Mr Flores is smart man, good city job, with really good benefits, sound a lot like a lot of city employees, and government officials you just gotta know who's, who's ........
$250 per month for city parking lot. WOW!! That IS CHEAP!!!!!! Come to Australia cities and you'll know what Parking Fee really means. Arms and legs won't be enough.
This guy makes me sick. Once again nothing is going to be done. Why? Fire him and set an example. And all he does is laugh. Another Govt job. please follow up on this.
Those are model cars to show people how park. If he gets a good lawyer he can sue to get paid for using his cars to encourage people to park at the garage.
Its Los Angelos guys... 100k doesn't go as far as it does in other areas. Every job has perks that they dont offer to the general public. Same as his job, those perks are at someone else expense..shareholders, customers, etc. Did we forget about executives at corporations getting bonuses with bailout money? I wouldnt think him having 3 parking spaces is so unreasonable its causing undo harm. I mean have we considered that city government is filled same perks. Detroit mayor doing 70k in upgrades to his SUV. Mayoral staff in one city taking trips to Africa with business class tickets that are 3x as expensive. I just have no clue why this is a news story.
