Fair decks: let’s play a land every turn and then use those lands to play cards that help us win the game and/or prevent our opponent from winning the game. Manaless dredge: let’s dump a bunch of crap in my graveyard and then get 89 power on the field on turn one with no lands. Oh your opening hand has a leyline of the void okay let’s go to game 2.
So now I've seen in at least two vids from you where you misclick while holding priority. I'm pretty sure what you're supposed to do is hold control before you click on the card and pay for cost and everything and hold control the entire time.
I think it's fine to mulligan if you have no dredgers since you're very unlikely to draw & discard one turn 1 but if you mulligan you have a better chance of having one to discard by the end of turn 2 Discard spells when you have no dredgers are not giving you an extra turn, they're just choosing what you discard
If you have no dredgers and the rest of your hand is garbage then yeah mulligan. For example 2 bridge 2 narco 2 creeping chill 1 flayer is not too hot and is a mulligan. But a hand with some redraws (street wraith) and phantasmagorian will give you an explosive start when you hit the dredger so it's a keep
Running only 13 Dredgers seems pretty self-destructive, not counting Street Wraith you only have a dredgers in your opening hand 83,7% of the time, as opposed to 88,2% when running 15 or 90% with 16. Chancellor is also fairly useless without DRS in the format, you have the Forces+Shoals for the beatable hate cards.
What do you play instead of chancellor? I like it still, works against thoughtseixe and generally slows down opponents game plan. Also a good card to reanimate against some decks, especially combo decks which are usually pita.
Also not having Unmask in the main deck is questionable. It’s a way to preform hand disruption because of the alt casting cost, and allows for mulligans since you can discard from your own hand with it.
@@ZakanaHachihaCBC Unmask got considerably worse since Probe ban since you're all that less likely to have a cycler t1 after Unmask, and if any permission is pointed at Unmask you just double time walked yourself. Against hate cards it's fairly useless since Cage, Rip and Containment Priest come down before your second turn (assuming you want to cleanup t1)
Jolssoni that makes sense. I haven’t played the deck in a while since I’ve built my Eldrazi deck, and Eldrazi is just better so I’ve been focusing on it more.
@@HiddenGhost00 flayer of the hatebound is more consistent. flame kin and lotleth giant either need alot of creatures on the battlefield or graveyard. flayer deals the enough damage of damage in the most amount of scenarios. the only scetchy stuff is contagon over noxiuse shoal.
They usually don't play unmask in main because if you get fow'd (or dazed etc if on the draw) you double timewalk yourself. If you get LEDs you might as well play LED dredge although manaless has it's advantages. LEDs would just be an awkward discard outlet
@@MK-13337 oh i thought unmask was a discard cost i didnt realize u had to target yourself to put something in the grave and didnt realize there was a specific led build ill look into it
For the record, m1. I feel like you sideboarded a bit too much which diluted your engine. Cabal therapy is huge in this matchup as it's almost a pure race. LED dredge is currently in the metagame.....I play a lot of dredge
@@JonathanHecht Rider is there because it can be pitched to Disrupting Shoal to stop Rest in Peace. Also, some people play "Fearless Dredge", which runs no anti-hate cards (like FoW and Disrupting Shoal). Basically, the idea is to focus on comboing fast and hoping they don't have hate.
Thibault La Batide_Alanore Lotleth Giant and Izami thousand eyes. Also not having any of the Haste enablers to kill with the Zombies you end up making with Bridge. Progenitus and Dakmore Salvage in the Board are also useful.
Chantal Beck yes, I am aware. You have Progenitus in the board incase you can’t get the haste enabler or kill with Flayer of the Hatebound. You have Progenitus so that after you turn over your library and make a horde of 2/2 zombie tokens, you get to have an extra turn to attack with everything.
4c Loam and Lands are 2 different decks though. I mean the one that plays exploration, mana bond, etc. whereas 4c Loam has Knights and Chalices mainboard.
Honestly, this deck looks a little on the out dated side. No Progenitus or Dakmore in the Board, no Lotlith Giant or Izami thousand eyes as main deck alt wins, and no haste enabler like Samut or Flamekin Zealot to take advantage of the Bridges. Unmask is amazing as it’s hand disruption you can cast, and because it’s any player, mulligans become options.
@@ZakanaHachihaCBC yes but that is never relevant, the flayer is better because it also can do more when you cant mill your whole library, andrea is playing my exact 75 that I got 2nd at the challenge with and I have tested extensively. Flayer is better because you can reainimate it when you have very few cards in your graveyard and create wins, where lotleth only wins if you mill most of your graveyard
Knobhead it’s in the deck because it helps to race against more aggressive decks through the life gain while also getting you closer to your goal: killing your opponent. It’s a free lightning helix
Mana dredge in legacy works with rainbow lands like city of brass and casts stuff like faithless looting and breakthrough. Cephalid coliseum is also big.
