Not true at all. Free to play games all have in game purchases, regardless if it’s mobile/pc/console. Something has to pay for the competitive scene and the workers.

Players are leaving, so revenue is going down. They are either just too oblivious, or more likely, are aware that the game is dying, but are still trying to milk the remaining players.
They’ve literally been doing this for years lol people are upset now but I guarantee in a week or two all the outrage is going to disappear when apex announces the next event (it’s going to be a recycled gamemode with a brand new limited skins)

I live in Canada its $13 for 1000 apex coins, and $9.99 USD is 13 something CAD so I basically have to buy apex coins every single time I want the battle pass. In 10 seasons if I buy both battle pass I'm spending 260 dollars rather then 13 dollars one time that I can re-use over and over again. This is bull. I'm seriously about to start an Apex boycott, if you buy this you are part of the problem. Fuck EA.

I just bought my first ever pass for this current season and was so excited when I realized I would be able to keep getting a new battle pass with the coins I received! Yeah. Now I’m just never going to play again. Feels dank.
When buying the Battlepass before it specifically said that u could receive the coins back so u could buy the next pass for free(if u completed the battlepass). I think they can get legally attacked on this. They cant change this halfway now.
Disney Speedstorm did a similar thing, but nothing is going to happen legally-speaking. Something Speedstorm did that Apex might want to adopt, just in case, is a period of time where you could convert your credits into season pass tokens. So if you have 10,000 Apex Coins built up, make it so you can buy ... 10? battle pass tokens. And then they can say "SEE? You CAN use the coins you saved up for the battle pass!" and then change the wording behind the scenes. Apex Legends is much bigger than Speedstorm, so maybe something litigious really may happen in this case. It's also an American company as opposed to being based in Europe. And that makes things more likely to be illegal here.

It's not "causing controversy". The controversial part is EA's decision. I'm equally glad he speaks up and more creators should, this just isn't creating controversy by the creator, it's standing up against disgusting corporate greed.
If you do the challenges you can finish it quick, but this season, they extended some of the challenges and made them more grindy. Like it used to be 5K damage on x legends, but this season its 10K damage lol. Play Lifeline 2 games for dailies turned into 4 games.
I don't want to go straight doomer but this really does feel like a bad sign. The gacha and wow comparisons are too strong to ignore they are clearly going all in on whales and it feels like a desperate last move.
Naw the sad thing is if this catches on, Respawn is already looking into monthly battlepass subscriptions, they have been doing surveys asking about it recently.
I got detached from any sense of fomo when my account got perma banned for typing "shut the fuck up" to a guy yelling the n-word into the mic and I lost everything going back to pre season 1. I'm on a permanent alt account now and never buying a battle pass lol
if the majority have been using the coins to perpetually buy the BP for free, then not buying it won’t result in any difference. So you won’t be really making an impact really. But we can try I guess. So him saying he won’t “buy” it again….was he spending money on BP anyway besides the first one he bought with cash?
But now less people will play because they refuse to buy the BP to grind so they will have less incentive to play over the entire season…so that’s the problem. It will wreck the player count

I've literally only been playing to complete the daily and weekly challenges to level up on the battle pass until everything was unlocked, and if I finished way before the season was over, I wouldn't touch the game again until the start of the next season. TLDR : Im whining about a game Apex was literally my perfect game 🥺😭 through everything id still recommend the game to any body that hasnt played it, i continued to force myself to enjoy the game an focus on the beautiful gunplay an movement system, i preached apex would be "good soon" for season after season, but season after season, they just fuck it some way or another. Respawn or EA (maybe both) just dont care. The game has so much potential to be great, i just can't beleive it.

I only paid for my first Battle Pass. The rest I bought with in-game currency made from that same battle pass. I will continue playing the game because I enjoy it, but I won't be paying for a battle pass again and definitely not every half season. It's not mandatory to have it anyway so in that sense it's not a big deal to me.
I’m in between causal an binge playing apex an I’m barely on LV 81 on the BP for season 21. So to get 60 LV for the free BP let alone the premium BP you have consistently play in order to get your money’s worth
Mande please continue to encourage other streamers to discourage their audience from buying this or any other apex items until EA does something beneficial for its users. They only thing they care about is money so we have to hit them where it hurts and you’re in a position to make a difference.
Bought every battle pass from season 1 until this current season i decided not to buy because of the cheater problem. Looks like im not buying next season either.
all legends unlocked with premium plus is not a selling point. any player who plays daily, will have soo many legend tokens they can buy any upcoming legend, for example I have unlocked all the legends and still have 100k legend tokens.
Okay, and with that in mind i know you have the brainpower to deduce the situation a little more. To save time I'll just tell you though, it's obviously geared towards newer players.

I’m calling it right now. Every free to play will turn to this. But the ultimate thing is. What will the purpose of the coins be other than packs? Is the content “worth” it? Will heirlooms be cheaper to get? Will skins/events/heirlooms/etc. be cheaper to offset the cost for real money? I feel like these are the questions that need to be asked.

If we really want to put the emphasis on how fed up we are; we ALL put our skins back to default - characters, weapons, no charms. Revert back to the old days of APEX.

Y’all tripping, you get double crafting material from the BP to CHOOSE any legendary skin you want, not only that but it’s only 60 levels which is almost half of the old ones, so it’ll be easier to grind out. AND you get more apex packs, meaning higher chances of an heirloom. People just wanna have a negative perspective 24/7. PLUS PLAYABLE LEGENDS? That’s big for new players or people who don’t have every legend unlocked
People are already playing less because of the rampant cheater problem, and they do this. They are just salting the wound. There is a 0% chance that I buy this pass. Aside from 2 skins all the BP stuff has been lame. It was lame, but at least it was self sustaining after you bought it once.
idk why people keep spending money on apex - i mean dont get me wrong i love the game but... after algs issues and them introducing new currencies... they surely wont change anything to the better with even more money.
The only motivation for playing casually through a season was to get the battle pass stuff. Now that it's gone, the only reason to play is for fun. No-life grinding is the only way to reach high ranks, so playing the game in a normal pace doesn't have any rewards anymore.

Thank you Mande, I wish more streamers would take a stance like this and fight back against corporate greed, people in general should vote with their wallets, if their favorite streamers are buying it anyway then they tend to follow suit and then EA/Respawn continue their path of greed and eventually run this game into the ground.

One I've prestige 2 times now so 1000 levels and not single heirloom when they said ur suppose to get one every 500 levels what they are which was false. It's gone to trash

I can remember a video i´ve seen where a dev said they´re making Apex for the ages. He claimed that they want to support the game for 20+ years or something, so you could play with your son one day and all this talk... Yeah, nah, i think neither of these things are going to happend.
